The Most Under appreciated Band in the History of Rock N Roll.!!
That's cause Phil was such an ass to everyone
@@cynthiamclellan6745 Did you know him then or just researched it? Many front men in great bands were hard to get along with and were considered assholes, but that's separate from their music so I doubt that was a major factor? and besides I'm not so sure they are "underrated" or under appreciated. not even sure how that's quantifiable? They're in my top 5 of rock bands
Budgie
Without a doubt , this is the best lineup , they were all at the top of their game 👍
It was general admission crowd of 2000 maybe. Couldn't have asked for a better venue. We arrived just after the opening band and were able to maneuver and get spots right next to the stage I was front row right next to the amp on the right side I was 10 feet from Michael Schenker. The greatest night of my entire life bar none!! I think I read somewhere this was bootleg video. When I first discovered this here on UA-cam I was ecstatic since then I probably watched it several hundred times. Every time I do I get so emotional because it was so historic it was epic!
I was @ this show too and the Monday show.
Who opened?
that's why I refuse to pay outrageous ticket prices for huge stadium concerts nowadays, where you are designated spots within the pit... it's all or nothing for me... rock concerts used to be you choose how close to the stage you were willing to go
I saw them 3 times on this tour.
They were on top of their game.
Yeah! I was there for that show too. Dream concert as I was too young to go see them in the 70’s.
The sound that Michael Schenker got out of that V was incredible. Love this band and always will!!!
In 1976 I was a teenage girl attending a Catholic girls’ high school. I was bored during a babysitting gig and until then had only listened to Top 40 AM radio. The couple I was sitting for had a tendency to stay out quite late, and in order to stay awake, I played with their Marantz stereo and experimented with FM. It was then that I discovered, among other bands, UFO. Fast forward 30+ years and my husband and I ended up sitting on their tour bus in San Francisco, sipping wine and chatting. What joy, with a legendary band. ❤️
Very very cool. Was Phil a gentleman?
Too cool 😅
So 30+ years later of 1976 was 2006+ ?
Sound quality not the best, but the greatest lineup of the greatest band ever,R.I.P,Pete and Paul
No doubt!
@@snakepitguy No doubt about your no doubt!!
And Now Phil.❤R.I.P..
@@user-gf2nd2ig1y WHAT?
@@user-gf2nd2ig1y and now phil what?
The most appreciated and most influential band in the History of heavy metal!!
Not Metal. Heavy/Hard Rock.
Seems the "thing to say about them" and yeah not really metal
Schneker on top of his game for sure here . Along with the rest of the band.
Most underrated rock band in history. Love that lead in out in the street so much.
Regardless of how great MS lead is on Rock Bottom of the Strangers Album…. His Solo on Rock Bottom off this DVD really encapsulates in a nut shell his electric guitar capabilities. Now I’m a 58 year old guitarist that has been following MS since i was a teenager and he is one of my top guitarist of all time and always will be. The Solo tho on Rock Bottom caught me a little by surprise for he is just firing on all cylinders that night! Thanks for posting 🎸!!
Inderdaad, heb hetzelfde. Hij is helemaal los daar. Mooie timing, vibrato, snelle licks…….ben erg blij met deze post!
Most underrated band of the 70’s
Because they were on Chrysalis Records -- home of the awesome Robin Trower and The Babys, neither of who got the fame they deserved.
That is interesting to hear. Will research this.
Secret weapon, Paul Raymond.
Recently learned Paul Chapman was in Savoy Brown.
I was front row, right in front of Schenker at this show! Thank you so much for posting this!
I saw this tour in England and couldn't believe how close they played/sounded it to the original strangers live album. Schenker is on fire. Never to be replaced band of legends.
This should have 20 million views ! Excellent for a bootleg from 95! Schenker was perfect on the entire set
Schenker is always perfect. Seen him many times, with his own band MSG. Saw him live in London Walk On Water tour 1995, with UFO. Schenker is the best melodic talented rock guitarist currently, & iv seen live many including Alex Lifeson, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Gary Moore, & Matthias Jabs, all superb guitarists in their own right.
Schenker however, is superlative.
This is the classic UFO Strangers In The Night line up, it doesn’t get better. Sadly, Paul Raymond & Pete Way have passed on. Phil Mogg is in his ‘70s & had a heart attack in recent years, & disbanded the Vinnie Moore guitarist UFO 2-3 years ago.
Laurence Archer was the only guitar player who correctly reproduced Schenker, & he only did one album & tour, High Stakes & Dangerous Men in 1992, which is a superb recording, including the awesome live cut Lights Out In Tokyo.
I traveled to windy city to see this tour and even though I hated Chicago I loved the concert and the crowd was rocking. It's ashame that
the reunion tour wasn't a bigger success because the Walk on Water album is a classic and UFO deserved to be much bigger in USA!
I was also at this show! man, what an outstanding concert that was! I ended up going to this show by myself as it was on a week night and all my friends had to work and did not want to go. I had the week off. Showed up to the Vic without a ticket, bought a ticket from a scalper and treated myself to one of the best concerts I ever saw!
Come on - you had no friends
tickets werea breeze to get BUT do you remember WHY the fans were all on that stage ?
What a rock and roll show. The band and crowd were on fire.
I was here. The whole band made themselves available after the show, for free, for autographs near the front lobby. The only thing I could think to tell Schenker was that his solo in Time On My Hands turned me into a guitar student at 12 years old. He looked a bit blank and then remembered the solo while staring down signing my CD and beamed..."AH, that was a pretty one!". I agreed.
That solo always runs through my head!
Saw this in the UK - there is something so special about this line up - it is pure musical magic. The best!
Thank you Thank you. Just found this my Gratitude.
I was at this show!!! It was surreal to get to see Schenker play all of my favorites with UFO!!! I still have the ticket stub……27 years later. I was then lucky to attend an MSG show at House of Blues Chicago where I was able to meet Michael at the “meet & greet” after the show (RARE). He was very nice and I was able to get a couple of things signed! 😎👍🏻
Lucky you, I was fortunate to see ufo ,sadly without Michael, but saw him with MSG and temple of rock. GOAT in my opinion.

I was at the house of blues for Micheal. Arcade in st Charles too. And saw him in garden City Michigan. Was like a hundred people for him there at the most. I got to strand nearly right in front of him.
I was at both of those shows too. Also did the meet and greet. Frikkin' awesome!
One of thee great English rock bands and Schenkers best work!!!
'STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT' is a classic
Don't usually watch fan recordings... but obviously this one is a treat.
Thanks for sharing
Saw them years ago in Santa Cruz,me and my girlfriend at the time, and close friends. Great show. Played some of their tunes in our band. Wonder how they are doing these days? Oh ,ya ,met them at a record signing the day before at a record store in San Jose. Nice guys. Thank you UFO for great rockn music
Michael Schenker is Magical! The reason for a kid who watches this to pick up a guitar and start playing!
Was lucky enough to have seen them at the Limelight in NYC that year, it was a magical time to see most of the original lineup!
This is incredible. Brings back a lot of my high school UFO LP memories. Shenker will always be King. Great songs. Thanks for this upload.
They were an important part of my high school days also. I remember when I bought Strangers.
remember they had to use my friends bandmtes equipment due to stuck semi of their equipment in snowstorm in utah many years ago at the terrace venue was an awesome show!
Yes this was one of the best shows I saw UFO do in the 30 years they came through Chicago. Saw them at SuperBowl of Rock ‘77 again in ‘78 at Randhurst ice arena and also “78 at the Amphitheater when they recorded Starngers live. This show was so up close and intimate it was like a personal concert just for you! Greatest band ever!
Randhurst Ice Arena! I grew up in Arlington Heights-went to Hersey High from 76-80.

Whoever witnessed this live, experienced a one of a kind performance. Speaking from a musicians point of view, the band is incredibly tight here. Every instrument is right in the pocket and Phil sounds great. Michael was at the very top of his game as a player at this stage in his career, and he plays every part just how it sounds on Strangers in the Night. He is on fire in the solo to rock bottom with some small changes, and he cannot play like that anymore. This was also before Michael changed his guitar tone, and he also plays more legato now, which I do not like as much.
Agree with you . Schenker was magical . Then something changed . Saw them the first time when they opened for Foreigner and I couldn't believe how great UFO was . That made me a fan .
This is SO great. Thanks for posting this. What a great band. Glad they settled their differences and did WOW. Most underrated band EVER. Schenker was and always will be a monster guitarist. Shame on Phil for his hate on MS
He's the only reason the band got where it was. Great vocalist though
I love Phil Moog as a person and a singer but, I'd bet none of you heard him miss the opening 20:50 verse in Natural Thing. Shit Happens, but he killed the rest of it. An underated singer who got zero air play. Legends of Rock.
I did notice that something was a little off but I was still kicking myself at that moment for not being at this concert.
Should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. A long time ago
Wow! What a treat. I was lucky enough to see UFO with Michael Schenker (1978, Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX); Paul Chapman (1979, Austin Opry House) and Vinnie Moore (201?, Ameristar Casino, St Charles MO). Schenker than, and in this video, is top of his game. Vinnie Moore is fantastic in songs of the Vinnie Moore era. What a band! Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the upload! Michael flows like water here... clarity, control and fire too! The whole band sounds great !!
Simon does a great job keeping it all together.❤
This is an absolute gem!💎
I was there for 2 of the 4 performances. Stopped in 1000 Liquors a few months later and the guy behind the counter told me they burst in there one night, all of them quite hammered at the time, proceeded to grab a case of this, some bottles of wine of that, some whiskey as well, didn't even wait at the counter for a ring up, they just threw a $100 on the counter, told him to keep the change, and they walked out as fast as the walked in. The guy rang everything up at the cash machine and the total came out to $98 and some change!! Funny shit!
Chicago loves Michael...always have. Saw this show in LA. Was like watching them do Strangers! Michael was on FIRE!!
Was the sacramento show
At the Boardwalk?
That UFO line up was the best..it's great to see Pete and Paul RIP. 🎶🎵🎸great band saw them many times in 70s..love em.
I was at this show. It was awesome to see them in such a small venue. I'll never forget there was a long line for the men's room, but the ladies room was wide open.
I saw them in February 2020 at the Rialto Theater in Joliet, IL on their 50th anniversary tour right before the world shut down due to the pandemic. What a great show.
Michael is the best I ever seen and heard. He always amazes me with his playing from different era`s. One can say that today he is at his best. He is the one and lonely because their is no one that creates and plays like him, period.
I liked him much better in his UFO days .. Now the magic is no longer there for me anyway .
Saw them many times in the 70's. This seems just as good as any of those shows. They still had it here.
Schenker is on fire here - genius level playing
Platinum performance, best band comeback & walk on water best studio album by UFO !
Robbie, I can't tell you just how much you have made my year by posting this video!! When I saw that it was the Chicago concert at the Vic theater, it not only surprised the shit out of me, it brought tears to my eyes because of my private, personal memories of the night!!
My very first concert was UFO at the Amphitheater in Chicago in, what I believe was, 1978 or 1979. Obviously, it was 1 or 2 years after the, "Strangers in the Night" live album had come out. Judas Priest was the opening band but it just so happened to be the tour that Schenker quit the band on. So many of us at the concert were so disappointed because, if I remember correctly, he quit right before the Chicago concert! Because we were too young to drive, my buddy's father had to drive us to the concert. We were so embarrassed by this that we had him drop us off a block from the Amphitheater so no one would see that "daddy" drove us. LOL
So. UFO at the Amphitheater was my very first concert AND this UFO concert at the Vic theater was the very last concert that I would ever attend!! How fitting! Again, Robbie, thanks so very much for bringing back the memories of some of the best times of my life!!
I agree. Highly underrated. Saw them late 70's -80. At 68 years old stil my favorite band next to Aerosmith. Saw 3 times.
I got to play with Simon in a UFO Tribute in LA around 2006ish at a place called The Joint...what an honor that was!!! It's so awesome to play when you have a great drummer in the mix! He was very kind as well
Schenker plays incredible ✌🏼
These guys changed metal period ❤
You are so lucky to see this show. Great mix
Saw this tour in Old Bridge, NJ 8/95. One of the best I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of shows. Andy Parker was missed but Simon did a stellar job.
They ended up playing 5 nights in Chicago here. I spent 2 hours on the phone to get tickets. I'd have to find my stub to see what exact date I was at. Loudest crowd of over 30 somethings one could imagine.
Saw the same show 9/11/1995 at Blind Mellons bar in Buffalo NY. UFO always puts on a great show.
Damn that was AWESOME
Forget how much I loved this band
A great show, but not the "Classic Lineup" which recorded Strangers In The Night, Andy Parker didn't tour, so it's Simon Wright on drums, who did a great job filling in.
That's not Andy?
@Bobo Clown No, it's not Andy, he was working with his family's business at the time, and didn't want to take on the rigors of touring. Plus he said while things were really good in the studio, he was nervous about touring with Michael, and Michael quitting mid-tour.
You are correct, no Andy
Schenker on top form much better than he is now even though he recons he's better now... My ears don't lie to me..
You are correct .
you can feel the energy on this.. great post thanks
Awesome tour awesome album! Saw them in Santa Ana calif - then Ventura Calif and in my home city of San Diego . 3 awesome shows . Schenker is amazing !
a GREAT mans band in a world of SNOWFLAKES
I played at the Vic theater I also played at the Aragon Ballroom Chicago has the best crowds the best audience bands love to come here but now they all decide they're going to play at the stadium I won't go to the stadium long live UFO
Almost original live lineup! That was Simon Wright on the drums for this tour ..Andy Parker played on the Walk on Water album but didn’t tour..Simon did an excellent job behind the kit..Seen them in Seattle at the Ballard Firehouse during this tour when it was still a Rock n Roll town..Excellent footage here and thanks for posting
I just discovered this video, and I am blown away. Always loved them. Saw them in '82, 2016, 2017 & 2019.
This is unbelievable. Blood fantastic. Love these for years
59:53 I own Paul's blue SG standard, and this is the first time I've seen him playing it live, he always used an upside down right handed firebird when I used to go see UFO, thanks for this upload it made my day :o)
I only seen them in concert once and it was at the Amphitheater in Chicago back in 1982 with a group called Saxon that came out first and then UFO 🛸 Started playing and It Was A Great Show but the only bad memory I have from this Concert was that the following day I had ringing in my ears 👂 and I’ve had it ever since that Concert over 42 years ago. I Wish The Rock n Roll Stations Would Play There Music Like They Use To Back In The Day !!!!!! You have a better chance of Hearing them on Sirius XM radio and even that is few and Far between 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Straight 🔥 Schenker was on his A game this night
An absolute masterclass in rock music.
We covered "Too Hot to Handle" in my first band. People didn't know it but loved it anyway.
Paul Raymond and Pete Way, RIP, Phil and Michael....still jammin!!
The greatest !!! Saw em this tour at the palace in Hollywood
They are still a great band
Just perfect! I was at this show. Almost didn't seem real. Incredible I got to see this.
I saw this tour in San Diego, CA in Oct, 19, 1995 at The New Bachanal... one of the best concerts I saw in the last 40+ years.
Какой классный концерт! Первый раз вижу! Все отлично! Шенкер 🔥🔥🔥
SCHENKER IS GOD!!!
international amphitheater chicago, 1980, awesome. best show ever
Oh my God I was at that show too. That old amphitheater!
@@laurapauga8221 it was an unwritten law in those days to be at every cool show, because there werent that many. everybody came thru once a year and you just went. everybody at your school that was cool would be there at the show, bathroom lines and merch boths were where everybody saw each other, even though it was in chicago, you were around friends. not like today.
International Amphitheater, Chicago, 13th of October 1978 was the best concert ever, the first night of recording for the Strangers In The Night album.
I believe I saw that show. The Paul Chapman era started so strong...first 2 albums rocked.
I went to two of the 5 shows there that week. I believe I was at this one. So cool to relive this!
Yeah, I saw this tour in October 1995 in Las Vegas Nevada. They opened with Venus from walk on water a very awesome show for sure
Saw UFO/SAXON ,Maybe 7 years ago,Vinnie Moore on guitar, Great show,Both Bands.😎.St, Charles Illinois
i WAS SO PO'D THAT I COULDN'T SEE THAT TOUR. THEY DIDN'T COME TO THIS PATHETIC NON ROCK N ROLL CITY.
I saw that tour at Penn's Peak in Pa. Eddie Trunk was hosting it. Got to hang with Vinnie Moore who knew my cousins and Rob DeLuca too. Great guys. Phil, Andy and Paul were busy signing VIP stuff ( gotta make the $$) but did take the time to stop by and say hello. I made a joke to Andy and he laughed about the bus... I tried not to be a fanboy but it was tough. What a magical night!!! 😊😊😊😊
RIP Andy Pete and Paul 🎵🎶🎸
Ummm… Andy isn’t dead?
Saw this tour a few nights later in Cincinnati at Bogarts August of 95. Best concert ever.
This is the definitive video of this tour! I saw it at A.L. Gators in S. Pasadena, Maryland outside of Baltimore. Seems like almost all my guitar buddies were there. It was oversold and Michael was literally in the crowd trying to play guitar. I heard he’s been hot tempered in the past but he just tried to ignore it
I saw The Michael Schenker group last year. It was fretboard gymnastics all night
WHEN BARDEN REJOINED FOR MIST OF BEAUTY TOUR I TRAVELED ALL OVER TO SEE THEM FOR A WEEK AND IT AS
INCREDIBLE. I SAW UFO MSG MANY TIMES BUT THAT TOUR WAS ONE OF THE BEST.
Anyone who saw this show in 95 like I did, lost their mind that night, and hasn't been the same since!
saw this tour in Columbus Ohio met the band got Schenkers autograph they were fantastic !!!!!!!!!
Saw Michael Schenker at the House of Blues.. Chicago, So Kewl, I made those Shows😎
Was there an official UFO live tour video released from the reformation period of the late '90s? This is rare! Great to find this.
There is no professional shot show from that reunion period unfortunately. The live album (audio only) werewolves of london is the only official live release from that era.
I know that is pathetic because the reunion tour should've been as big as KISS. BIGGER!
I am so pissed I missed this! Shenker is always a monster!
These guys are awesome
Я искала Love to love с Шенкером и Моггом вместе- очень рада, что нашла наконец! 👍👍👍
Remember standing on the rail to see them with Rush and Max Webster. Pete's bass was thunderous. Schenker amazing as usual. $7 probably. 77 I'm thinking.
Dear Thor!! WOW! This is just too much! UFO Forever!!!!!!
Fantastic! Had I known at the time I would have been there.
I was at the concert in 78.
International Amphitheatre
47 & Halstead in Chicago.
Ciry Boy & Molly Hatchet were the opening acts. One of the best live concerts I ever been to. Saw UFO again when they released "No Place To Run" after Schenker left. Just wasn't the same.
Never got to see these guy's thanks. Pete Way is UFO. He's the only guy moving around out there. Michael is like leave me alone Pete I'm trying to play here. This was a time he was trying to get his shit back together. Thanks Again 👍
10:01 was the moment all us drunk & stoned Chicagoans REALIZED that We were REALLY Seeing Michael on stage... it was Aug. HOT Humid and the AC went out at the Vic.... why you see ALL those brand new fans on stage ....
Michael was on during a lot of this. I don't know of anyone else who could do the oldish Marshall sound as well. i like the rest of the band as well but still saying...
I saw the '95 tour at a small venue, The Edge in Palo Alto Ca. It was a great show just like seeing them in '78 at the Day on the Green in Oakland except a lot closure up. Michael Schenker left UFO 1978 a few months later after a show in Palo Alto. I was fortunate to see UFO with Schenker twice (17 years apart) and a couple more times with Chapman.
