Tbh mixed voice was me naturally and i really resented it, mostly because it sounded like the feminine higher register was trapped in a “mud” which it could never escape. My voice is more agile now and quite assertive. It’s ok to be clear and not breathy as a female, it is required to have any “clout”. Just know when to soften your tone 😉

You know what’s wild. You explain the voice better than most singing instructors. Some of my fav singers control their larynx to sing stupid high notes with ease. The guy from periphery as example. His range is obscene. You’ve basically explained all the elements of mix voice and how to implement it in an easier way. Wild. Just wild

I missed it. She appeared to wish other people luck on their surgeries. I couldn't understand why. Maybe poking fun at surgeries that increase the pitch of your voice? Maybe related to the person in the short clip at the beginning?

This might be off topic but you should definitely do podcasts or audiobook narration.

i don't understand what vocal weight is any more than before watching this. you said that i can hear your 'falsetto' or 'head voice' when you're doing your 'mixed voice' but i either can not hear your falsetto, or i do not understand what that means. either way, i am no close to understanding weight as it pertains to voice.

Pure falsetto is like a mickey mouse or helium voice. It’s high but it lacks resonance and vocal weight. Singers add resonance to their head voice in order to hit higher pitches. Mixed voice is mid range and mostly in the middle, pitch wise (like around C4 to E3). Chest voice mostly uses your diaphragm and produces the lowest pitches you can go. As such, mixed voice is mix between your head voice and your chest voice. To better understand head vs mixed vs chest voice, it helps to watch a lot of videos on vocal training for singing, since that’s where those techniques are most relevant.

when raising my larynx I feel like I can't breathe like what might I be doing wrong ... this has always been an issue for me when doing voice lessons like I get so wrapped up in trying to raise my larynx it closes my throat. is there such a thing as raising it too much? I always thought it was like higher is better

I know what you mean, I think adding more air/breath can help hit that middle ground. Try doing a sliding pitching (up and down) with a lot of breathiness, it might help.

@@autistic_enbyit is an almost inescapable tie for me, i spent years working out how to lose it. It comes down to your individual physiology and the way you were conditioned to speak growing up

This is wonderful information! I am trying to learn more about vocal timbre and vocal weight and this was very helpful! I am no trans, I am AFAB but my alto voice often sounds "manly," even more so than a lot of men I sing with! Now I get more of an idea of why that is and how to change it if I wish!

Right... that's why voice actors exist and why smoking too much makes your voice gravely or how male puberty makes voices way deeper among 1000 other examples of how that's completely false. Like bruh she's literally changing her voice in the video.

I would think God would want us all to improve to the best of our abilities, so if you were born with less hearing, He would want you to try to get hearing aids. If you were born with bad eyesight, He would want you to get glasses. And if you are born trans, He would want you to get your body to match how you feel on the inside and be the happiest version of yourself you can be.
