In memory of Gavin Creel who played Claude from the revival production of Hair on Broadway and London. He died from cancer at age 48. I didn't see him in Hair, but I remember him as Bill from the Eloise movies. I do remember seeing clips of him as Claude, my favorite male hippie of the tribe. He was very handsome in character and in real life from what I have seen on UA-cam. RIP Gavin, I will meet you in heaven soon. I hope you can hear me whenever I sing this song. I will always cite your performance of this song as my favorite. Love you, Gavin!
It is nice if you didn't see the play. I had the privilege to see it in London twice. So I could not stand the movie. They had to create a story and I understand that. But ...it lacks the most important. Authenticity. The hippies in the movie had no education, they didn't behave like true hippies. And...nobody naked! That is the most important part in the play. They removed it.
I watched its musical in late 60s. I still love the songs. It brings back many memories of my student days ...... Oh, how time has passed and this songs lives forever...
Where do I go Follow the river Where do I go Follow the gulls Where is the something Where is the someone That tells me why I live and die Where do I go Follow the children Where do I go Follow their smiles Is there an answer In their sweet faces That tells me why I live and die Follow the wind song Follow the thunder Follow the neon in young lovers' eyes Down to the gutter Up to the glitter Into the city Where the truth lies Where do I go Follow my heartbeat Where do I go Follow my hand Where will they lead me And will I ever Discover why I live and die Why do I live (beads, flowers) Why do I die (freedom, happiness) Tell my why (beads, flowers) Tell me where (freedom, happiness) Tell my why (beads, flowers) Tell me why (freedom!)

I'm not native speaker, but I have been always thought "where am I going". This form "where do i go" just sounds a bit weird to me or is it normal in the USA?
It's present simple because he's asking about his whole life as in what his aim in this life is, why someone is born, lives then dies. What is the meaning of life, is there any sense in it? As opposed to asking where he is going, as in right now, walking on the pavement. Hope that clarifies.

That whole musical is a masterpiece.

I hate that they edited one of the songs I really liked.
I love the choreography of this scene
Into the city where the truth lies. One of my favorite lines ever.
I love how John Savage sings this, with the wide eyed earnestness of being young & fresh in N.Y. He was heartbreaking poignant in the Deer Hunter...
That deer hunter role had2 be such a challenge4 him... cheers
@@christopheryasus3666 Terribly underrrated, underused actor. Sooo talented.

It’s normal. It’s like asking “where am I supposed to be going” very common
