Civ 6 AI Only Timelapse: Lost Paradise

- This weirdly shaped island gave life to the 12 civilizations that will try to build a unique way to victory. Some will count on the fast fleets taking cities by surprise. On the other hand, some prefer a massive land army: slow but powerful. Being too passive and build Wonders not the best choice in domination-only battle, but rush blindly and forgetting about the economy would not do any better. The real challenge begins when the most effective strategies collide because nobody knows how to lose, but somebody has to.
I used the latest version of Civilization VI: Gathering Storm with all other DLC & Expansion Packs for this battle.

In the late Game France was like: "Wouldn´t it be fun if we stopped building a military? Ethiopia won´t attack us for sure"

I wasn't expecting it. I thought Paris had it - and it looked like they had control of the seas and then suddenly... it didn't matter
@@SamSmithNZ All France had was ironclads, they cant stand against Ethiopia’s artillery and battleships
Seemed like strategic airlifting of tanks was really the killing blow in this one. France had their ironclad army but when Ethiopia took Lisbon from behind enemy lines, and then was able to take Madrid immediately after, that was a killing blow. They had a clean land route directly to France's heartland and it cost them remarkably little to get it. If they hadn't held Madrid though, I think France could've eked out a win.
I thought it was because of surperior defence on Ethiopias side and land units vs navy. France just rushed in their units and Ethiopia having so many long range unit, they died one by one. France was shooting ducks through the end game. Also every encampments pointed against France. Pushing them further and further back for each captured city. More effort was needed to attack for France then Ethiopia.
That capture of Lisbon was definitely a defining turn, it was beautiful, Ethiopia also made a good decision to build up a strong army whilst France was taking the centre of the map

The other 2 civs only had to fight 1 civ, Spain, whilst Spain had to fight 2

It was fairly oblivious the 2 civs bordering 2 cities were going to do better than the civs bordering 3 or 5
Just like red in the middle was going to be screwed when the outsides consolidated despite having the more advanced cities.
France had it in the bag and then just decided they don't like winning
Egypt and Rome are the civilizations you can always bet on never winning in these videos sadly.

France had ironclads, not just ironclads, but IRONCLAD corps, and they still lost. Dissapointing.
ethopia tho had a huge advantage in terms of science, since they gain bonus science from faith generation, they were using battleships and tanks while france was using cavalry, garde's
and ironclads.
@@rinzzler366 Sure, I can't really see but I don't think all of the cities are on hill terrain. Even though ethiopia had the tech advantage, they had fewer units than france did. I will admit, it was hard for france to really take 100 strength cities with ironclads. Maybe should've teched for battleships

Might I suggest doing a map based on World Showcase at EPCOT? Perhaps with these 11 civs representing the countries featured there:

i kept trying to guess which color would win without understanding the game really at all, and i kept guessing the color that would die next, so i had to keep changing it until it was the last 2, and i guessed that blue would win. I have amazing luck, not good luck but it is amazing how bad it is

Would be cool if you showed tech achievements on the side. Like when an empire builds the first of a military unit or has nukes.
Imagine Inca on this map. They'd be OP because of their super early mountain tunnels.

I feel like the Spain AI made a crucial mistake going for Rome instead of pushing the top right corner, where they had control on both shores to pin Bogota. Maybe even go for Babylon first.
@@MrBlasD I agree. At that point France was too strong to be dealt swiftly, yet Rome was still between them. But if Spain goes for Babylon, and succedes, he could take out the remaining cites with ease. That would have led a 7 city vs 5 city scennario. Or just simply spain wouldnt be able to take the last cities before france attacks, in that case france just plays pokemon and takes all the cities.

France was so stupid, I loved how they just randomly decided to go all in on a navy and forgot to build ground units. Ethiopia played smart and deserved that win for sure
Cool video. Just a suggestion: Can you turn on the strategic resources icon just as the first civ discovers it? Would add a whole new level of drama for the 3rd act!
Goes to show how terrible the AI can be. Theres locations on this map where you can hold nearly an infiite number of enemies at bay with like 3 units.

Wow, I was really certain that France would win, and then they went a screwed the pooch very hard by spreading their troops too thin. What an upset!
Really thought it was neat how France clearly out ranked them in navy, but they were getting slammed by so many tanks it didn’t even matter.

Spain did much better than I was expecting. The fact 6-sky did so poorly surprised me with how nutty her archers are. Guess the AI only knows how to rush me and not each other.

What have you done to prevent cities from rebelling through little loyalty? When I create games to look at fights, most countries in the first turns lose by rebellion, and this is not the case with you.
I think he starts them with a culture-building or turns the culture win condition off.

rome completly 0 iq sending one unit at a time to austrailia and could have easily defended againt spain if they had a crossbowman and walls that were not gone from a single caravel in rome.

I've heard people say this a lot, and it's totally a matter of opinion, but why do you feel civ 5 is superior? No disrespect, just curiosity.

I personally love every installment in the franchise.
@@boallen7724 this is my personal opinion, but for me almost every new feature actually made the game worse.
The districts system and the double tech tree don't work.
There's no "wonder race" anymore, as well as there are no luxury resources trade anymore.
The impulse feature overwhelms science, and favours too much those who can do impulses.
It is almost impossible to make your cities efficients: either they lacks food, either production, either homes, either luxury or strategic resources, and if even only one of these is missing, you get completely stuck in the devepment of your city, with no workaround possible.
Basically everything depends wether you're lucky enough to spawn in an optimal place where you can do impulses and spam cities that can grow, because there's almost no penalty for your empire size, and who has the biggest empire always win with no chance for smaller ones to recover the gap.
Also the "dark and gold age" feature from the dlc is a mess, and almost randomic.
On top of that firaxis hardcoded the braindead ai, making impossible to fix it like in civ 5 with the vox populi mod.
