It's a throwdown in Bone Town. A dance of the necromance. Will Phineas Nightsoil prove himself well-rounded? Or will Gustav the Inept prove that it's hip to be square? Find out in this battle report!
This was great. I enjoyed this more than the last VO episode. I think you’re finding your feet there. That said I do miss your dulcet tones. I like the sound of your voice and Lynn’s when she’s around. But again, big step up in the VO, very funny and enjoyable as always.
What a wonderful and beautiful video you have made! Love it! You have discovered to me this “game Style” and I want to see more! Keep up these kind of video. I want to see more! 😊
Great fun and narrative game, don´t really know how played it was at the time, but seems like a great system to throw some dice with friends. Keep up the awesome job mates
Another REALLY FUN skirmish game, BRILLIANTLY scripted as always, & superbly narrated by that same very impressive & characterful (AI?) voice that you used in your last tabletop skirmish... 😂👍 Just what I needed too, to take my mind off so many dark & depressing events that are unfolding in our real world.
I have the hooded sorcerer representing Phineas Nightsoil, very lovely figure, old 3rd edition chaos sorcerer if I recall. I use him in my Malalite chaos army, but he's painted to be able to used wherever I need him.
Fun and timely battle report, well done! I must admit, as much as I enjoy the quality narrative voice, I miss you and your wife talking while playing. Any chance to mix the two formats?
Hi John. Anything’s possible. Production time is the big sticking point, since we don’t get that many views. Editing a 40 minute video with two audio tracks takes a lot longer than a 20 minute video with one audio track.
Well, this particular shoot involved a small mat, a low model count and minimal terrain, which made things a lot easier. Larger games, with a bigger mat, more figures and more terrain pieces, are much more complicated to capture. This was a three camera shoot: One for the mat, one for the dice tray and one for close-ups. We like to edit in Final Cut. All the special effects were Final Cut Motion generators. Also some rule sets are easier to shoot than others. If a game uses combat cards, battle boards or things like that, then you need to figure out how to work those elements into the video too. And lastly, these types of game play videos require a lot of editing. The handheld camera, run-and-gun style battle reports are faster and easier to produce, which is why more people go that route.
@@oldhammered thank you for all of the knowledge. I’ve got the cameras and mics needed to accomplish this. Seems I need to put extra effort and care into filming and editing. Love the content 🙏🏽
Very fun battle report! I was rooting for the ancient order of square bases, alas. The narrator adds gravitas and is perfect for Warhammer Fantasy. I enjoy the voices of you and your co host, but this is a good compromise for easing the burden of making battle reports.
I'll be honest.. Your onepagerules batreps was what caught my attention and got me hooked at the ruleset.. Well produced and easy to follow batreps.. I have enjoyed your batreps with different games ever since. But as I said, I'll be honest.. The AI voice really doesn't do it for me! To a degree where I simply loose interest in watching.. I would without any doubt prefer real voices.. Maybe the AI as intro og post batrep voice.. But not more than that..
Thank you very much for the feedback. I’ll be honest as well. Our traditional long-form battle reports take between 40-50 hours to produce and get an average of about 5,000 views, which simply isn’t sustainable. We either need to streamline production somehow, increase viewership by a factor of 10, or stop altogether. I’m not sure what else we can do.
@@oldhammered I completely respect that.. The time and effort also really shows, and the desire to improve and try out new things is also an important factor when it comes to keep up the motivation.. No matter what, I hope the best for the channel..
I certainly respect your POV. The challenge we have is our long-form battle reports are a LOT of work, and frankly not many people watch them. The question then becomes, should I put 50 hours of labor into a video that only 3,000 viewers are interested in? Granted, that might be an algorithm issue. UA-cam is a mystery.
@@oldhammered i never noticed they did not get a lot of views, they were the only battlereports i would watch and thoroughly enjoy :( Just in case you haven't heard it often enough: They were the perfect lenght, with a solid gimmick (oldhammer et al), fabulous hosts with great chemistry and chill editing, you did the community a solid service!
I’m glad you enjoyed the videos. We put a lot of work into them over years. Honestly, we thought there would be more interest. But, you know, it is what it is.
I appreciate the discourse and respect your honesty in chasing the algorithm. I’ll still watch the old GW & GW-adjacent product reviews and retrospectives you all do. Good luck trying to crack UA-cam’s code.
Thoroughly enjoying these Warhammer Fantasy Skirmish games. I'd be very happy to see more.
Yeah we need more
Square bases vs round bases, love it! Another awesome Batrep!
😂😂😂😂
Its pretty based ngl

Love it.
A absolutely, tingling, thrilling, narrative battle report, I would love to see more of them, especially warhammer, skirmish scenarios!
"They've got guts, even though they don't have any guts" ... man I love the narration of this battle ...
Thanks for this great and surprisingly enjoyable battle report of a game which I never knew existed. Please do more!
Thank you very much!

I loved this! Everything about it from the narration, to the set dressing, to the terrain was just fantastic! :)
Yes! I will watch it after i come from work. Thx and keep up the good work!
Love it! Great format, script, narration, and edits. Beautiful board too. Great job!

This is awesome! You are the best UA-cam around! Please make more videos like this and never stop
What a lovely narrative skirmish!
I want more.
love this! really dig how you package the battle report, the narration is 12/10
Love this format. Best battle report on you tube. Reminds me of the 90s white Dwarfs ❤
Great battle report! Love the narrative.
Thant brought back fun memories 😊
Thanks!

It looks like it runs a lot like mordheim.
I love these scenarios! Do more please!
Necromancer duels are oh-so flashy. Fun video! :)
Love increased production quality)
AYE.
Justice for square bases!
This was a cool game, and your voice is perfect for this type of video.
This was amazing to watch, the voice over reminded me of a old fantasy audiobook

Lovely Battle Report :3
The narration! Amazing!
This is so fun!
I agree 😂
The two most inept necromancers in the kingdom...what a lark. XD
I literally just found my old Skirmish book in the bottom of a box the other day, really excited to try and play some of the classic scenarios

I believe his official Citadel name is Slith Ironlung. Very cool old sculpt.
Great battle round base gang for life
Voice is well done. Cute game, this is the right season for it : )
Love the narration ..good fun.
Great video. I’m going to steal the “wet cookie” bit, it’s the grossest way I have ever heard a zombie described.
That was hilarious. Well done.
I would love more battle reports like this
Glorious!
Awesome and right on time for Halloween.
So fun
Fun video!
Great stuff!
"Swinging like a pair of angry drunks" got a hearty chuckle from me.
Edited to add: who did the VO? As it's excellent.
Oldhammer is going future tech. That is an AI VO.
Fun stuff.

Fall apart like wet cookies lmao
Always fun, 6th Ed Skirmish.. :)
6th edition forever!!!
Not so much action at the beginning nut towards the end there were some undead active. Nice one.
Where do you get the AI narrator? I like it.
