My Varia broke after 1.5 year of use. It turned out that Garmin not only sells the low quality products, but also offers a very poor service. So I have to find a replacement and your review came to the rescue. Thanks
Just got a "seeme" branded Magene. With latest firmware, 2 false negatives on my first ride (one of which was an obnoxious gigantic pick-up truck). Also got a cycle of false positive immediately followed by all-clear immediately followed by more false positive/all clears on one section of a road, a steep climb on a curvy road with no traffic in either direction, no idea what triggered that. Wife had an older Magene, and says latest firmware made false negatives much worse. False negatives on every single ride are pretty much unacceptable IMO, thinking of sending it back.
Yes. I've tried Garmin Varia RCT715 and also reviewed it: www.cyclistshub.com/garmin-varia-rct715-review/. It didn't end up too well but the truth is that the firmware was in its early stages.
Is anyone here using the iGPSport SR30 with a Karoo 2? The radar connects to the Karoo without any issues, but it freezes and disconnects after about 10-15 seconds. I don't experience this problem when using the iGPSport SR30 with the iOS app. Both the Karoo and the SR30 radar have the latest firmware updates.
Thank you for the review. I just picked one up on an Amazon flash deal for $99.99, hoping I'm not just throwing away 1/2 of the money I'll eventually spend on a Garmin. Interested to learn if any firmware updates have come out since you reviewed the unit??
@@cyclistshub good to know, I'll avoid any updates and test it as shipped, however reading around the all-reliable cesspool of Reddit it seems that maybe the firmware that it currently ships with is also producing many false positives.
Yeah, test it as it is. I don’t know what they did. 🥲 This is also the risk with these devices. The firmware updates can change how the product behaves. 🤷♂️ I will mention it in my future reviews.
Yes, it will show the traffic. However, the bike computer won't allow you to change the light modes like Garmin Edge. You have to switch them manually on the radar. :)
Garmin states that the Edge 520 is compatible with Garmin Varia, so I believe it will be compatible with SR30 as well because they use the same communication protocol.

Thank you, I am glad it helped you making the decision. :-)
For me its a gadget, maybe someday. But battery life is impressive. Thanks for test and video.
Yes, it's absolutelly a gadget that's not necessary. :-)
Thanks for watching!
I agree with you guys. A car will hit you whether or not you see it on radar. However, I like the situational awareness.
It's a shame, but at least there is more competition in the radar market, which should benefit everyone interested in getting one.
Yes, I agree.

Its not fit for purpose. Send it back.
I haven't gotten around to retesting the L508 yet, but if your unit is experiencing these problems, definitely return it.
Great comments, thanks 🙏
Thank you too!
Why is jonas vingegaard here
Do I remind you of Jonas? Haha, that's cool. 😂
Díky za zajímavé video !!
Ahoj Radime, já děkuji za pochvalu! 😊
@@cyclistshub I like the Radars because those EV Cars are so quiet you can’t hear them.
Good point. Where are you from? There are not so many EVs here (yet).
Nice video and presentation.
BTW have you seen one like these with an embedded camera?
Yes. I've tried Garmin Varia RCT715 and also reviewed it: www.cyclistshub.com/garmin-varia-rct715-review/.
It didn't end up too well but the truth is that the firmware was in its early stages.
Fine review! Does it work with bsc200?
Thank you. Unfortunately, BSC 200 doesn't support radars.
Does it auto turn on when paired with a a garmin bike computer and you start a ride? The Varia does. I found to my detriment that the Magene doesn't.
If I recall correctly, it doesn't.

Yes. There are new firmware updates. The last one messed it up and the radar gives more false positives.

Between Magene, IGS, Garmin and Bryton , if you had to choose just one to use, which one would you use today?
Garmin

Glad you liked it! 😊
Its compatible with Igpsport Bcs 200?
BSC200 no, BSC300 yes.
Is the speed really an issue? You guys aren't cycling on motorways?
I would say no in 95 % of cases. But some drivers have no limits. 🤷♂️
Is it compatibile with igs620?
iGS620 has BLE5.0/ANT+/WIFI, so yes, it should be.
No îs not compatibile. Igpsport not want to update firmware for radar
Can use at garmin 520?????

@@cyclistshub so can use at garmin 520 or not??
Theoretically yes, practically I don't know. I don't have the 520 to test it out. 🤷♂️
@@cyclistshub Support the gps bike computer with ANT+ protocal
Ok cool. Good to know.
Bought this coz of auto on off and very long battery long. That’s it. Doesn’t even use radar that much 😢😢
Why not? :-D
Side visibility is over-rated. It's non-sense, actually; just marketing bullshit.
It's certainly not a dealbreaker, but I feel it's important to mention it in the review. :-)
