I have like 5 different extensions that do a lot of this. Crazy that YT is so shit you need so many extensions to fix it.

Use "SponsorBlock" extension and contribute! It even skips IN VIDEO AD READS, intros, outros, filler, and more! It's the best thing EVER!

I hope these extensions continue to work as they do now, because the "new" layout UA-cam has been testing is an absolute eyesore. I would really love to talk to the person who thought it'd be a good idea to smush the description and comments together on the side of the video player.
The bigger the thumbnails the more likely people will click.

I used to use a collection of userscripts to make my youtube experience better, but now that improvedtube only runs on youtube I can switch back to that
another one I rec is unhook, that allows you to completely remove certain parts of the youtube interface than improvedtube can, helps give you a more focused experience. you can delete your sub box and/or home feed if you so please.
Been using this for a few months. Best bit is turning off comments and live chat. No more accidentally scrolling down too far and ending up in that world of insanity.

My biggest issue is that on mobile and android TV, watching a video, then coming back will often show completely different videos, so if I saw two videos I wanted to watch I'm my feed, I'd have to save one to watch later, othewise it's gone.
UA-cam back in 2009 is where it peaked. There's not much wrong with UA-cam on my computer. I have Ublock origin to block all intrusive ads, Sponsorblock to skip the annoying arts where people break the continuity of the video to waffle on about some product they love. Now if they would just bring back the likes and dislikes bar (or show it as stars like they used to), stop recommending me videos that I'm not interested in or videos that I've allready watched a billion times, remove the shorts and allow comments on UA-cam Kids videos again, that would be perfect.
For pc, I am okay with the way I setup youtube now. But on my Phone, on which I consume 90% of my UA-cam, I am getting more insane every day with all the non-skippable ads😢

That's what i use. I tried "improve youtube" but it moves the comments to the sidebar and the related videos under the video which i hate and i can't change it. With Enhancer for YT i don't have this problem.
@@whiskytangofoxtrot_ No it's available for chrome and firefox. It's one of the more badass extensions because in one of the updates the author said they blocked a "testing" feature youtube rolled out to a-b test on users.
@@whiskytangofoxtrot_ It got taken down with the after some UA-cam updates last year cause it broke.
It got updated a few months ago and it currently works and at least for chromium browsers. But if you had installed it before it was taken down and put up again you could still use it. That's how I had it on my Firefox browser for over 2 years.
It's one of those extensions that I periodically follow in case I wanna switch to a different browser.
DeArrow is also a great extension that makes clickbait titles and thumbnails into actual descriptive titles and autogenerated thumbnails.
you can already take a screenshot of a video by doing right click context menu and then pressing "Copy video frame"
A lot of what this does (not most) can be changed in UA-cam's own settings.

I'm new to this channel. This seems like a more fun and light-hearted tech channel. The cat and mouse game of getting around corporate greed is not at all distracting or take away from the quality. Or maybe I'm just dead inside.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first part of your premise! However, for unfortunate people such as myself, who live in 3rd world countries, 1080p youtube videos automatically are the stuff of dreams :D
UnHook for youtube is pretty good!! I'll give this a try for turning off the Ambient Mode!!
I was wondering, How do you make the *bookmark* folder looking gray like that, i can't seem to find how to customize it, but having it gray to blend with the rest of the page seems so much better

Is there a way to force 1080p Premium quality in videos? So far, I've not seen any extension implement that for some reason...
For me Freetube is the easy way to go. I only don't call it the definitive because it doesn't have youtube custom feed, and while it is a hit or miss I think it still would be cool to have it.
How do I get details and comments back under the video with vids on the side? This extension doesn't fix Google's new layout 😠
UA-cam already has shortcuts for changing playback speed and jumping chapters.
for a channrl or group of channels can you filter out vids older than .... some time past?

Sadly it doesn't work with the new YT layout, where the comments are small on the right

You need 1 video in your history, then you can disable it and it will work.
Anyone else notice when you enable language translation this glitches youtube comments, and you see like different username to different videos. I think they have bugs in their code database; they should look into this very annoying. But if you compare 2010 to now; youtube streaming has improved and use it daily.
Is there a way to get my playlists back to the sidebar? because now i have to press playlist to see all my playlists.
not to mention youtube redux which mimics the old youtube ui

I`ve been using enhancer for UA-cam, YT nonstop and anti-translate (hate it when they translate some random video to my language or "native" of my browser to then see some hindu guy not even speaking english...) - it does pretty much the same stuff, but it takes 3 addons. Maybe i will give it a go, because YT right now recommends 20 videos from which 6 are like 2 views from guy in indonesia about cars...
Saaaame man, i have had it with this bullshit i search for something and there are like 50 videos with 48 being some indian guy speaking gibberish

Did I mess up my recent uBlock filters for UA-cam? Or does anyone else see a large panel of recommended videos below the panel of a playing video? And the Comments and video description being squeezed of to the right side, as if that was less important than the video recommendations. This seems to have started 2 weeks ago.
Using Ublock I can remove the recommended video suggestions. But it leaves a big large empty panel. And when watching the video fullscreen it adds a horizontal scroll bar below the video. Am I nuts or does anyone else have this too?
And can this Improve UA-cam tool fix any of that?

The fact that consumers need to hunt out more (UBlock) and more (this and other) ad-ons to make the experience palatable just proves that TheirTube (because let's face it... its for their benefit now) is becoming unfit for purpose.
Who's got time for 1.5x, wish I could set default at 2x and have the option for 2.5x and 3x. I can do it in the dev panel on desktop just not on the app...

The worst for me has been the SEARCH RESULTS. Instead of getting... well, results, I get recommended videos?! Here's an example (you can try it as well): let's say I search 'blender how to create a circle.' I get only 6 results, then shorts, then a section named 'People also watched' that is unrelated to my search, then more shorts, and only then another few results. And again, a 'For you' section with random things I hate, and lastly, a few more results. And so on... Out of the first 44 'results,' only about 24 were actual results
Yeah I also get horrible skin condition and pimple popping videos in my search results for some weird reason (for example for niche searches for camera gear that I'm sure only have a handful of videos max). I'm glad I finally have a way of blocking them permanently.

Yeah, it looks cool and all, but it already happened a bunch of times where i open a video and it just doesn't auto-starts and the speed isn't setted to what i configured... Its quite annoying, tbh...
I want a new add on called I searched for, that makes it when I search for something, it will show me things that I searched for, and not 4 things I searched and a bunch of other crap that has nothing to do with what I searched for.
i already use enhanced youtube. is compatible with that or is the same thing?

UA-cam has taken more of my life than any other 21st century distraction. I’m almost complete say it should go away permanently. I’m ultimately responsible for what I do with my life, I know, but man does this algorithm really suck your soul out.

The worth of YT is rapidly draining. I'd rather monitarily support creators I like directly and just ignore the rest.
My YT recommended has become utter nonsense this year and is now nothing but news stories I don't want to hear or see for the sake of my mental health. I use the "not interested" and "don't recommend channel" constantly, and YT STILL shoves it in my face when I DON'T want to watch it.
Is there any way to apply tweaks like these in the mobile app... I really want to hide shorts as I've been wasting time a lot and can't control it. Chris and guys if y'all know anything please let me know...
revanced is still going strong, it has lots of features, just requires manual updating every couple months

Maybe use desktop shortcut to firefox with extensions (not every version of firefox allows for all extensions If I am not wrong, but definatelly one from f-dorid allow)
