Jay-Z switched up his flow on Reasonable Doubt after Nas dropped Illmatic. Before that he was still doing that Das Efx, Fu Schnickens fast rhyming scheme that he was doing with Jaz O.

Theres alot of misconceptions around Jay-z outselling Nas. First off, Illmatic(1994) outsold Reasonable doubt(1996) in first week sales, 63k to 43k. It was written(1996) nas's second album was SUPER hyped, they put mad production into that, it sold 275,000 first week. Jay'z's second album, In my lifetime volume 1(1997), only sold 138k first week. Jay-z didnt beat these numbers until his third album in 1998... Also, Nas Debut on the US billboard top 200 number 1 spot, before jay-z. Nas was number 1 on the billboards in 96, Jay-z didnt reach that till 98. (edit) Nas was the real king of New York in the 90s, ask anyone who was around. Jayz didnt start popping off heavy till the late 90s and 2000s when hiphop was dieing and shit was starting to get wack, thats why jay-z's lifetime sales are alot higher, but when shit first went down, the culture was different, and Nas was huge in the early mid 90s, even like older people liked nas caus he was intelligent and dressed lowkey gangsta with those flat hats to the side and shit, the type raekwon and mainly biggie wuld rock, those died out u rarely see anyone rocking those ever, i aint talking fitteds. Nas was the better rapper in just about everyones eyes i knew. The battle of the best mc of the 90s in NY was between biggie and Nas, not jay z.
@@1traphistory the internet now lets us see how everyone felt, but this is how the hiphop world kingdom felt lol. NYC was literally like the rome of hiphop during that era. Like, its cool you feel that way but thats not how the majority felt, and new york has alot of people. Jay z remained relevant longer, and i think Beyonce helped that also, putting his face on tabloids at the supermarket and stuff, jay z became a totally different type of icon. Nas was more about representing New york also a bit, while jay Z cared more about just talking money. Both good artists but, the question of jay z being better than nas wasnt really up for discussion pre 2005. Everyone knew Nas was better, i remember the early limewire days and people would sometimes debate it. But now you have alot of people who just, werent around during that era, take in what they see now and judge it for what it is. And thats what most people do who compare them nowadays, they dont look up actual stats or sales or anything. They just run with something they heard that reinforces what they beleive or whatever.
@@profo4544 I was around then, and you are kind of proving my point. Both had NY because they from there but Jay elevated pass Nas because of national exposure. A lot of times, especially back then NY cats had on blinders and only knew about NY shit. I’m telling you down south Juvey’s 400 Degrees was THE album at that time. When Jay jumped on that Ha remix it put him on the map down here and when he worked with UGK it only solidified him more. Nas was cool and all but street niggas down south saw him as backpacky believe it or not. If I Ruled the World was probably his first song to get radio spin down south. A few hip hop heads like myself knew about AZ and the rest but Nas should have expanded his reach. People can debate who’s better but the success of Jay compared to Nas is not debatable and I feel that was the reason
@@1traphistory Jay z never had "NY" like you think though, thats the confusion here. Theres a story about nas getting out a car in manhattan and people walking up to him and calling him the king, from the drop of illmatic to 97, some say till 2001 even, nas was the king of NY hands down, there was no discussion. Jay z never had new york on lock like that, by the time jay z blew like he did new york changed a little so did the hiphop scene, he didnt have that Who the hell is this dude factor either, alot of people knew who he was caus he would run around as a fan of biggies crew and, theres a pic of him before he blew and hes rocking a notorius shirt at the table wit nas. Nas blew out of nowhere and way earlier than jay, so by the time jay z blew up nas had mad stuff on him about how he was a clown thats why nas killed him so bad on ether, caus jay z ran around up everyones ass before he blew. But, Jay z never had new york like that, just because he has a song new york, new york doesnt mean anything. You think real heads were listening to someshit like that ? cmon dude. But yeah i jus wanna correct that, he didnt have new york like you think he did, and alot of people must think this, like he was rolling around as the king of NY, he wasnt maybe nowadays he acts like he is but when the hiphop scene was in its prime he wasnt. He also likes to try to say he started the yankee fitted, thats some BS to, WE new yorkers and new york kids started the yankee fitted, when the won there first world series in 1996 when Jeter was a rookie. Everyone and there mom had a new york yankees jerseys and fitteds on. That was the year the yankees first started there Dynasty and became what they are today.. They won in 96, 98, 99, 2000. After the first win in 96' that hat exploded. Anyone rocking one pre 96 knew what was good.

nas killed Jay with that either. And this dude is on point Jay z has stolen from alot of artist, he stole lyrics and songs from biggie, 2pac, and alot of others
Everyone listen to Camron - Swagger Jacker on UA-cam. Camron been exposed Jayz for stealing biting rhymes, it's sickening how much he took when u listen to it 4 realz
marksuave25 It is something that most rappers do....to an extent. However, when you make a living off biting beats and lyrics, then that makes the accusations by some of him being a fraud that much more credible.
MICHAEL SOWELL at what point do we give a person credit? In that song showing how cam bit a lot of songs and other artist And was accusing jay of doing it he looks like a hypocrite. But even with that being said, cam is a talented rapper, I don't really like him, but he is talented nonetheless. No one here can take that away from any of these rappers. They have talent, give them credit. Jay has talent, even if what karceno is true, something about jayz made those songs hits, where as the "originals" didn't.
This video is legendary and confirms why I never liked Gay Z. He always stole work from people and built it up on lies and betrayal. The falling out with Dame and Kanye was never incidental" or "accidental". He's a shrewd thief. Drake should learn a thing or two from his idol.
***** DOA and PSA were follow ups to a couple of Buckshot songs. Jay-Z is the reason Black Moon had to redo certain songs cause Beatminerz would make a beat and Jay would find someone else to make the same beat so he could make a twist and put it out first. Buckshot talks about this on Juan Epstein.
North Trenton New Jersey He did that to capture the west coast audience attention. To give them that I respect the west type of vibe. Plus the chorus was so simple that elderly people was singing it
First of all I've always said check Jay-z resume the streets have a completely different story about him. Then check his music resume Jay-z whole career he's been switching up he stole Jaz-O's style ,& Jaz-O made Jay-z. During the early 90's Jay-z had a different flow he had to change his flow. Jay-z has stepped on everyone else's back to get to where he is.
And other rappers that are considered great didn't have to necessarily have to do that (biting, not paying homage) to get on their own two feet. In other words, get known to the public eye. Which is the rap world.
Bro, I been debating this exactly my whole life. Jay-Z is so un-authentic, how all the people he battled he then stole from like Pac and Nas, where’s the decency? Kanye’s influence is heavily understated, he’s fake as hell. On top of all of that, he’s still not relatable, he doesn’t come close to top 5.
I knew of his thievery back when he was bitting Biggie. Kanye won't be able to leave RocNation without drawback because Jay needs him on the team, imagine if Kanye left Jay & teamed up with someone else like Lil Wayne or someone else, he could make them as prominent as this version of Jay Z is...
Honestly, on "hustler baby" (I think it was called "I just wanna Luv Y") Jay Z was syncing the hook, but Pharrel I believe was the one who sang it. Same as when Pharrel was on Mystikal's "Shake it fast." However, I could be wrong. They sound the same. However, "Gimme that stuff that sweet that nasty that gushy stuff" is a sample off an old song by Rick James "Give it to me." Whether it was sampled, I don't know.
I never fucked with Jay anyways i know he's great with the rhymes but his music doesn't move me. For one i don't like his voice and his subject matter is supposed to be interesting but he makes it boring. I'll stick to Nas & Pac.
Don't forget Bonnie and Clyde which originally was created and written by "Tupac". He than released the track years later..acting like he created the song originally. If Pac was alive he would destroy him for that
Word Jay doesn't have originality. He went from sounding like Dax Efx and Fu Schnickens pre Reasonable Doubt, to sounding like Camp-Lo on REASONABLE DOUBT, then using Sauce Money's flow on Volume 1 In My Lifetime, then using Young Chris Style on Blueprint 1, to then Jacking J Cole style and look
my only problems with Jay is that he hopped on the wave of every hot new nigga. Ja, 50, Dmx, em, kendrick, drake, TI etc. then act like he adding to their buzz. no nigga they adding to your buzz. and how he claims king of ny. biggie had the crown. him and nas battled for it and nas one. on top of that Ja, DMX and 50 all having their moments as top dog in NY.
Cam'ron got at Hov on "Let Me Know" on the low. That's why Hov never liked Cam or Dipset even when Dame signed them to Rocafella. Everyone think that song was just about Drag On "NY must stop bitin and start writin, when the fuck we start bouncin". Hov ain't even want to jump on that "Welcome to NYC" track.
He pretty much followed Elvis Presley and all those people who used to steal from those great artists. I think they say he’s the goat is because of all the awards and records sold. But to me LL and even nas should be considered ny goat. Plus the Media pushes him like Vince McMahon would push his number one wrestler who ever that may be
Speakin that truth! I didn’t even know some of these songs were stolen, i just have a bad taste from the Mystikal joint and all the post mortem Big L and Biggie bars.
Jay Z fully took me and my Girlfriend from 2Pac. LMFAO XD. Pac he same guy who said fuck Jay Z before knowing he was gonna die. Jay Z got down on 1 knee to KISS Pac`s Ring on that 1. Same Pac who said fuck Jay Z before he died lol.
Better than that trash we have now. These dudes can't even rap, it's all about hooks. This young dude was saying that Rick Ross was nice and I told him that he's all about nice hooks and beats. I tried to tell him about Redman, O.C. et al and he was lost.
"Public Service Announcement" off the Black Album: "allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is HOV, H to the O.V....." Anyone remember Digital Underground? Shock G as Humpty Hump on "Humpty Dance"? "allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is humpty, pronounce with an umpty...." You catch my drift. same damn pattern. But he's the G.O.A.T. huh? NO. LL COOL J is. LOL BTW, Shock G was one of the most creative artists that ever did it. From the beats to the concepts. DU was ahead of their time. I GOT A QUESTION!!!! Who else can put on a disguise and be 2 different people and create a whole new lane off a character? Hmmm, Hmmmm? If it won't for Digital Underground, there would be no 2Pac. Yea...I just said that.
SO by your rational that humpty CHARACTER was the 1st person in world history to say "allow me to reintroduce my self. ". LOL Don't you know that there is nothing new under the sun. Every thing has been done before the question is can you add a new variation to it. that's what makes it art. Smh lol
His a great rapper man an you be hard pressed to find a rapper who didn't sample off somebody. Thats like saying biggie Smalls bit off LL cool j because they both had a song called " going back to Cali" NAS sample OFF BIG RAKEM, slick rick, and others but because Jay is more successful he is the bad guy. Lol
Totally agree with every word on this video. Jay Z is the most overrated rapper walking. He owes everything to Dame Dash who put him in a position where he was surrounded by talented people. He cant write a song he just jumps on other peoples hot tracks and gets the credit. If he wasnt married to Beyonce he would of been forgotten ten years ago. Total garbage. Any track thats been popping has been someone elses
The blueprint was the last album of Jay z that I listened to . Reasonable doubt came out in 96 and was hot . Timing does alot and he had great timing. He was the last of the great rappers so he got all the accolades. Once he became mainstream things changed just like they do for everyone else. We're would he be now on the todum if pac was here biggie was here bigL , Big Pun . Everybody loves you when you coming up but when you make it they hate you ..
Actually bruh "Give it to me" was stolen from Omillio Sparks from State Property. He heard him spitting the hook for one of his tracks w Oschino and Hov swooped in like nah this shit is dope im using this. He's Jay-Z, so nobody argued wit him. That's why Omillio is on the hook.
unfortunately Jay Z is not the only one who steal hooks or bite lyrics. I think since he still around that's why people starting to notice more. At least the older crowd.
Factz Can I get A was Ja Rules joint, he jacked it, the New York, joint with Alisha Keys was her joint, he jacked it from her, the Excuse me Ms record hook is Jacked from a Joint on State property's 1st album called Mommy do u want me (Young Chris verse), he stole young chris whole flow (factz), that give it to me song was actually sparks joint from state property, jay said give it to me lmao, I need that lmao, Izzo record took snoop slang, fa sizzle my nizzle Iike snoop had just started saying it and Jay said lemme get that lmao and the list goes on, this is very accurate sir
Doesn't matter. If half your best bars hooks and concepts are from other rappers HE CAN'T BE THE GOAT' You cant say he was just idolizing biggie' was he just paying homage to the other 2 dozen rappers too; and there is even way more stuff he bit' check out PT 2. Nas is the GOAT its no longer up for debate' and Nas KD3 release put the nail in JayZs coffin as GOAT' Hands down. Nas now got a bigger and better catalog, more number one hit albums' Nas is GOAT no more debating it. Nas ain't a rapper Stop callin him that He is a bible book Nas is a prophet on tracks
I remember when Reasonable Doubt first hit the streets before the official release. My best friend and I are the only 2 that had it in the area I was in. I was still in like elementary/junior high school. We had the cassette and for a while and we didn't even know it was a album. We thought it was a mixtape lol.
dont think jayz got his name from jazz o.. that would be stupid.. jay was a bk dude but always came across as a harlem dude, he loved them harlem hustlers.. aye body was naming their selves with a z behind they name or adding po for alpo and Az ...thats where he get the name from..
Im a Jay fan and even i know and have seen when Jay says it himself!!!! He got his name from Jaz that was the big homie it use to be Jazzy! Actually then he flipped a bit as years went on and styles changed.Where you been at?
1. Shawn would sell his mom if it came to it. 2. Shawn was often the least talented on his own albums. 3. I prefer the sound they had around the 2000 period. It sounded modern and epic (as in the real sense of the word).
And so has other rappers They sold drugs, some rob people for a living but Jay gets the bad name because he the most successful. DMX ( who was more successful at one point) could have done the same thing but he hooked on cocaine. Red man and method man love the weed more then being successful or make money. Who gonna sponsor weed heads. Wu tang fought one another! JA RULE Was doing his thing but he want to battle a white boy off the streets and nigga who got shot nine times. Lost the battle and his career and what both 50 and slim shady both have songs out where they singing on the hook! JAY STAYED FOCUS, and for the most part made consistent hot music and good business decision. That's why he is where he is today.
Jay-Z is an above average MC but not the best. The reason why he has the wealth he has is mostly by the behind the scenes work of Dame Dash and Burke. Have you ever heard Jay-Z in interviews? Do you think he is the mastermind behind Roc a Wear and Roc a Fella Records? Was he responsible for Camron's success? Jay-Z always talk about album sales but the truth is that Def Jam was known to buy hundreds of thousands of copies of their artist's albums to inflate the album sale numbers, resulting in their artist going platinum in combination with the actual album sales. A lot of Jay-Z platinum albums actually sold around 500,000 units. You can thank Def Jam and Dame Dash for most of Jay-Z success.
Like Jay-Z has bars, but not that many, that's why he steals raps. If you peep, Jay-Z won't have 3 16s every song like a Nas, Tupac, Eminem, or Biggie would...they can spit forever and ever. A lot of Jay songs just be having a long ass hook
Jay stole jaz o style he steal big lines but everybody do that. He stole nas style. He stole young Chris style of young guns. He even calls himself young
Damn Bro! I do have to agree with you on this shit! Jayz has been stealing and biting rhymes from day one, don't get me wrong I'm not trying to step on a niggas hussel but to be called the greatest rapper of all time! I don't think so come on now lets keep it real Jayz is a "BRAND" that's what we buy into, that's just what we do as fan's we are buying the "BRAND" just like Nike! it's not all about the sneaker it's all about the million dollar nigga that's wearing them! M.J. it's the "BRAND" not the shoe trust me no the court I've put flames to a niggas ass with a pair of skipys on and old dude was Nike from head to toe! so don't get it twisted it's just a "BRAND". I'm out 6'9inc
I agree that he lost the Nas battle! But i don't agree that he bit Biggie. He was paying homage to Big. It was a way of keeping Big alive. I don't consider a rapper using other lyrics biting unless they are contemporaries who are both still living. What Jay was doing was after Biggie past away. Also, Jay Z is way too prolific to say that he spend an entire career doing this. Yes he used BG and 2 pac. But he also carved a niche for himself as a premier lyricist who was very unconventional.
Karceno4Life Correction, give it to me line. , came from Rick James. He got Excuse me miss from Luther Vandross, "Excuse me, but what your name" To me biting is taking someone's style and not give them any credit, or to take something from another rapper before he comes out with it. Thats biting. If someone if someone using obvious line from classic hip hop song and you know where it came from, then how it is biting? It's paying homage to classic hip hop shit and did when Biggie did "Biggie Biggie Biggie, can't you see, someone you world just hypnotize me" He was Bitting Slick Rick right? . LIL Kim on Quiet Storm remix using MC Lyte's line, Hot damm hoe hear we go again. That's bitting right? Or When Nas, did Street Dreams are made of these from Euthremics. Nas was biting if I world the world from Kurtis Blow right? Or when Biggie used Biz Markie's line from Going Off, "Hahahha, check out this Bizarre, rapper style used by me the Big" Or Method Man when he used Hall and Oates, M.e.t.h.o.d. HOw about when Biggie on One More Change said, "get that H Town in you, "you want that old that thing back" When Mase did "What the hell is you looking for, can't a young man make money anymore" Wasn't that LL Cool J's line? When Ghost face on Mighthy Healthy did "Shake that Body, Party that Body, that wasn't his line,
Karceno4Life Don't tell me you hating on Jay like how these niggas online be Hating on Floyd and just finding shit just to discredit him. LOL Just kidding. I respect your opinion but don't agree with you on this subject. I like Jay Z and Nas. I was actually rooting for Nas against Jay Z. But I won't accuse him for doing something that so many other rappers have done. Jay Z had done enough rhymes where he didn't use anybody lyrics and handled his business.
After watching this video I lost a lot of respect for Jay-Z why do people consider him to be the goat when he stole a lot of people rhymes he even stole Nas rhymes when he was beefing with Nas so sad and lazy it's funny how he even bit Jazzo's name I have no respect for Jay-Z
To respond to the title of the video... Duuuuhhh - "...From Sean Carter to Jay-Z damn u on Jazz dick!" Jayz has made a career of being a hack... Smart business man but he always came up off of other people. But hell, the USA has done that its whole career too... Good ish -

Because I was gon fuck Solange in the ass but Jay hated on some that's his Lil sister in law shit Solange got mad and started stolin' on the nigga but Jay my man tho we still kool
And Kerceno left out how Jay Z FIRST bit off the entire DITC crew styles, ESPECIALLY Big L! Funny how Jay Z's style has "evolved" with the company he's kept or should I say the artists he's wanted to ride on. Lord Finesse, Big L, and on and on and on...
You have a real disillusioned and contorted view of Rap. There is no such thing as "real" or "false" Rap. Rap has evolved from the 90s; you'll likely never hear that style again. You likely don't look in the right places for good lyricists. First, you need to shut out most mainstream artists; most of them are prodigal businessmen making music that'll only attract fans... whether it's good or not. You need to cut the geriatric tendencies, and move on.

@@profo4544 I didn’t mean it like he was the king of NY. I agree with you, what I meant was that he was known in NY. Y’all listened to Reasonable Doubt, everybody else was introduced to Jay by The Blueprint. We knew y’all loved Nas because of the same reason we wasn’t feeling Nas all that tuff…he was too NY. Early on specifically
I would never bite people's rhymes, lines and bars. That's just not my style. I focus on my own life and my own style.. my own lane!! I write my own shit !!
When the history books are written, it will be evident, Jay Z will never surpass Nas.
He missed his chance, nor could he accomplish it.
MrMakemusicmike fuck u clown. Jay z is trash
Big L did a freestyle on hot 97, jay z bit the shit out a big L line
😂😂😂
Ha ha ha ha haha ha
Kanye saved Jay's career he really needs to get his royality checks back.
"Give it to me" was Sparks joint from State Property and Jay took it from him. Sparks wrote that hook for that beat too.
correct
@@Karceno4Life he only had the hook
He took "Can I Get A What" from Ja Rule
@@jameshamilton5947 facts and people still 🤡 ja when he became big on that song too
You forgot to mention he took lines from Eminems "I'm Back" and used it on his song "Success"
I agree with Karceno.
"Feelin it" On RD was obviously for Camp lo, even the flow.
How tf am I just hearing about this in 2024?!?!
nas killed Jay with that either.
I had swagger jacker before Camron got on it, It was call "I'm not a writer"
Some one put out a video after that showing how camron bites a lot of lyrics. All rappers bite. Nothing wrong with it.
marksuave25
It is something that most rappers do....to an extent.
MICHAEL SOWELL look up "I don't write shit- cam'ron diss". This came out 7 years ago.
Dude is dropping gems. You are a music historian man.

This video is legendary and confirms why I never liked Gay Z. He always stole work from people and built it up on lies and betrayal. The falling out with Dame and Kanye was never incidental" or "accidental". He's a shrewd thief. Drake should learn a thing or two from his idol.
Jay-Z is always stealing but I didn't know he stole that much.
Shit Jay stole Cashmere Thoughts from Camp Lo & damn near got the Luchini from them to. Hell Ski Beats mentioned that
He stole "Feelin' it, too."
***** Yes he did because I see rather Camp Lo doing that song than Jay. Because it fitted more on their type of vibe.
North Trenton New Jersey Yes Jay was a biter not a writer.
You have a lotta knowledge about these things, keep it comin'. I spent all morning listening to your videos.
Lol even Renegade is originally Eminem and Royce Da 5'9 song
Jay pushed for the song to be his..
Jay-z used Enimem's rhymes on Success with Nas he's a straight biter I've lost a lot of respect for Jay-Z
Me too
Truth hurts, and I like a lot of Jay Zs music. Just the facts. I listen to it cuz it's catchy.
You are an honest human being!
Tupac exposed Jay Z in the mid 90's.
he had a song on the dynasty cd called" parking lot pimpin" a term we say in the bay area so yeah Jay-Z is a biter
I completely agree with you on this one Karceno! Gay-Z is a bitter and doesn't belong in anyone's top 10 MC list.
A few more ua-cam.com/video/ybEZF4Vbe3A/v-deo.html
Jay-Z stole from lil romeo ha!😂 I'm done
He probably stole from bow wow to
He'll do anything to reach number one. The world is that gullible to fall for if any of Jay-Z songs get airplay.
lol yea he killed me with that
I knew of his thievery back when he was bitting Biggie. Kanye won't be able to leave RocNation without drawback because Jay needs him on the team, imagine if Kanye left Jay & teamed up with someone else like Lil Wayne or someone else, he could make them as prominent as this version of Jay Z is...
The reason why i hated him, is for using 2pac songs and beats to be relevent, i dnt get why he is labeled a legend
Renegade was originally Eminen N Royce D 5''9, but Jay Z got the song for BluePrint.
Yes
and he still couldn't out-rap Em 😂😂
"why dont u let the late great veteran live?!" - esco
I never understood why people like Jay Z. I just dont get it. But then again people like Justin beiber, Kim Kardashian and drake.
Lol. Damn that's pretty low bro. The man does have talent tho. I like his work. He's a shitty person tho.
I agree. I don't get it either.
mooky ive never rated jay z
He did have lyrical skills back in the 90's.
Camron told the truth
I never fucked with Jay anyways i know he's great with the rhymes but his music doesn't move me. For one i don't like his voice and his subject matter is supposed to be interesting but he makes it boring. I'll stick to Nas & Pac.
Yeah me too ward
his subject matter was okay/decent early on but got progressively worse/dull. so same, he doesn't move me. annoying clown voice too
ProtectedSouls4 Same here he's a great MC but his music doesn't move me.
Prophecy95
Don't forget Bonnie and Clyde which originally was created and written by "Tupac". He than released the track years later..acting like he created the song originally. If Pac was alive he would destroy him for that
when Jay z did that song new york with alicia keys I always thought that was a rip off of Nas song America
NY state of mind -> Empire state of mind... He literally stole the title of Nas' song 😪
Pharrell produced Give it to Me and Shake it Fast... That's why they sound the same
That's part of the reason this whole video is dumb
He really didn’t produce those songs y’all idiots
he was biting young gunz flow
Young Chris
This is true! J said in so many words He will or sell his soul for money no Limit
I have more Luck than sense similar to Jay-Z...................It's better to be lucky than good in the words of Doug Morris.
One that never gets mentioned is UGK's "Touched"...Jay bit the hell out of Bun B's verse (1st verse)...
ive never been a big Jay-Z fan. I can say someone who has studied hip hop as a whole for years he is the #1 most overrated hip hop artist of all time
Every single hiphop legend called Jay-Z one of the best of all time. From Rakim to Kool G Rap. Stop hatin
+luke jones I know one who said fuck him numerous times. however he is currently no longer with us

my only problems with Jay is that he hopped on the wave of every hot new nigga.
Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, S.Dot the collection, American Gangster, Vol.2, WTT...Jay has a solid discography by any standard. Imo.
Dame Dash did say recently that all Jay had to do was rhyme. Dame was the mastermind behind the Roc.
99 problems and girls girls girls from Ice T
He pretty much followed Elvis Presley and all those people who used to steal from those great artists. I think they say he’s the goat is because of all the awards and records sold. But to me LL and even nas should be considered ny goat. Plus the Media pushes him like Vince McMahon would push his number one wrestler who ever that may be
On Point!! Nobody really knows about that rare essence hook unless they from the DMV, you did your research bruh 💯
Nas did the shit first than pac stole it
Better than that trash we have now. These dudes can't even rap, it's all about hooks. This young dude was saying that Rick Ross was nice and I told him that he's all about nice hooks and beats. I tried to tell him about Redman, O.C. et al and he was lost.
I agree with that
I actually have respect for the new era rappers like BAND CAMP boys
"Public Service Announcement" off the Black Album: "allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is HOV, H to the O.V....."
Anyone remember Digital Underground? Shock G as Humpty Hump on "Humpty Dance"? "allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is humpty, pronounce with an umpty...."
You catch my drift. same damn pattern. But he's the G.O.A.T. huh? NO. LL COOL J is. LOL
BTW, Shock G was one of the most creative artists that ever did it.
LOL
Don't you know that there is nothing new under the sun.
Every thing has been done before the question is can you add a new variation to it. that's what makes it art. Smh lol

Yea, I know...I just had to put it out there since he made an album called GOAT LMAO
Lol
abe nice LOL what are you talking about?
You must just be mad at Jay's success because everyone in the music business jacks beats and songs and Jay and Nas are both phenomenal emcees
Prodigy used the Nina Simone sample for Stronger first.....then Jay used it for that OJ joint.....Prodigy never liked Jay...R.I.P P 💯💪🏾
He actually got ah point even 2pac me and my girlfriend wit Beyonce in da words of lil Jon well okaaaay!
English. Do you speak it?
Good point, however, "Give It To Me" was taken from Rick James, and "Excuse Me Miss" was Luther Vandross.
Hip hop been sampling. Everybody sampled hooks and beats
Nas ain't a rapper
Stop callin him that
He is a bible book
Nas is a prophet on tracks
Wow, there are actually people who think Jay Z won that battle?
How Pharrell gone steal from himself he prod shake it fast & give it to me…
I remember when Reasonable Doubt first hit the streets before the official release.
+abe nice thank you bro brilliant add me on Facebook (Jay Gweedo)
Omillio came with that hook for "Give it to me"
I'm still curious on why Young Chris let his rhyme style get remixed
Swagger jacker used to be on radio late nights on hot 97 or power 105 1
F Jay Z
These Jay-Z fanboys can have the fetish mancrush on him.
Big L, Redman, Pac, Big daddy kane, rakim, AZ, Pun, nas, too short over jay any day.
Your videos got me hooked, too much info
Dynasty was trash w/ all them supersaws and shakers and shit.
Typo never had an intern work for me
I agree that he lost the Nas battle!
Then explain him biting all the other rappers. He's keeping them alive also
Karceno4Life Correction, give it to me line. , came from Rick James. He got Excuse me miss from Luther Vandross, "Excuse me, but what your name"
To me biting is taking someone's style and not give them any credit, or to take something from another rapper before he comes out with it.
Just another gay rapper busting shots at jay z lyrical catcher -2pac lol been told u this

I miss old rap. REAL rap! Before Jay-Z got mainstream. Call me old but the 90's were GREAT!
