For people that don't realise how big of a deal this was, this was the first time in over 70 years that two drivers were dead-lock tied in points heading into a final race. A whole generation lived their life without ever seeing this happen.
This special intro caught me surprised, this really felt like a huge season finale. Plus it reminded me how JoJo intros work during the final episodes and i love it

A "History Awaits" style intro would have been a cool Easter Egg for the F1 games like if you are in F1 Career Mode and you manage to go into the final round tied with a rival. Doing something like this and the game actually recalls everything from the previous rounds for a montage. That would be mega.

If you don't get it then don't comment but you know this was important when 40+ million people tuned in when usually its only 18-20 million people. It made the news and had people who had never watched the sport watching
We also had a different one in the Netherlands. And Ziggo (the broadcast company who had the rights till December 10) changed Thier logo to incorporate max his number so if became Zi33o with the 33 vaguely resembled the 2 g's. I gotta say this was a great finishing of the season (and yeah I'm dutch) but we could use this luck once
Sometimes the big main plot twist of a story was already shown early at the beginning (context: Latifi), it's just us who didn't recognize it. What a foreshadowing, F1, we never see that coming 🤣
When I saw this intro, I knew we were on an historical day in F1 history. Not sure if it was the best way to get historical, but in the end I don't really care, because I've never been so much into a F1 season (in +10 years of experience) and I still don't know if I completely realize how much this season is one of the most spectacular ever. We're about to get new F1 cars, completely new aero concepts, completely new era, so I'm really glad to be able to watch F1 all year long

This season was something else. I was cheering for Verstappen, because I wanted someone else to win the championship. Then the final race. An absolute chaotic mess. I had all hope lost until the Latifi crash. And then Masi did his thing. I was happy that Max had won, but I was sad that it ended in such controversy. But man, 2021. What a year.

I was watching it at my uni without sound (it was during class), and I was completely shocked. I didn't even think they could do anything like this, because the last few years the end of the season was not really exciting.

@@Cavi587 in my country, some exams are taken on Saturdays. PhD courses, post-degree classes and some "special" degree classes are held on Saturday because people who take those courses usually have full-time jobs. Sundays? No such thing, that's insane.
Well when you think about it if you look at the history of f1 for the past 20 years you only get a real title fight in transitional periods, excluding 07 and 08. 2016 came close, but 2021 was better. So I guess the next one might be 25 or 26 with the new regulations and RB switching to Ford, Audi coming to the sport and etc. Edit: I totally forgot 2010, 2012 and 2003, 2006 so forget what I said, lol. There is an opportunity for title fights in the following years.
i had been nervous for the whole race week, and then when the nervousness started to turn into anxiety this intro played. the amount of excitement i felt was something i had never experienced before. priceless.
I'll always remember the day of this race. As the intro said, history awaited. It's the most epic seen I've seen so far in my life, not only in f1 also in any other sport. The dimension of what happened that year is absolutely inimaginable. That championship was written by the world's best guionists.

Thank you for posting this! I'm glad I could see this, in Italy this intro was completely cut off/censored cause they don't care about the international broadcasting at all. All of the music is replaced by annoying rock songs from the 80's/90's (mainly ACDC) instead of the F1 theme in the background and it's awful.
Im a new F1 fan in 2024. I want to kill myself knowing I saw this happening on the side in 2021, knew tons of people who were huge into F1 and badgered me about it to watch it as it was happening, and ignored them. I love this sport now and I can't believe I missed this
I regret skipping until near the start of the race. This intro is really cool and summed up the season well. Also kinda showed that either way there would be a new record made. The first Dutch champion or the first 8 time world champion

Still hoping to watch the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP for the first time again
It was the respect for this competition which led F1 to create this intro. The season will be an epic to remember for years to come
after seeing that intro live I instantly forgot that all the other racers were in the race until the crash.
