    I love DCS, and I'm sick of the unfinished products. But obviously, most people have no problem with it. And if ED can keep making money on unfinished products, they will keep making them available.

    • @Runandgun13
      @Runandgun13 2 дні тому

      @jamesmcd71 the whole point of early access is just that. Or you can uninstall it and wait the few years it takes to finish it...

    • @jjsemperfi

      @@Runandgun13 That is true but early access is such a scam. Here, buy this and we'll probably finish it, at some point...maybe.

    • @Runandgun13
      @Runandgun13 17 годин тому

      @jjsemperfi it's not it's two fold, it gives you early access and it helps them squash bugs faster. This is not warthunder it takes time to develop full system aircraft.

    • @jjsemperfi
      @jjsemperfi 17 годин тому

      @@Runandgun13 That's what pre release testing is supposed to do. Yes I understand that a larger sample size (us the community) can help catch more bugs and make better tweaks however it's ridiculous when companies make their consumers the testers.

    • @jamesmcd71
      @jamesmcd71 17 годин тому +1

      @jjsemperfi you realize it's your opinion to get an early access product. No one is forcing you to spend anything on it. I don't get them anymore because I mostly do multiplayer. So I don't need all the maps. But it's a good way to get a substantial discount on the map if it's a product you can use.
      I'm just sick of the complaints.

    I’m seriously worried there’s not gonna be any servers for this map I mean look at kola and Afghanistan they came out a while ago and barely any servers other than your typical through the inferno stuff

    • @rays_n
      @rays_n 4 дні тому

      Yeah, I would only buy this map if you play mostly SP. Servers don’t wanna rotate maps most people don’t have, I personally bought Syria just to play multiplayer, if I had to buy Afghanistan, Iraq to play when I want it would kind of annoy me as at the end of the day it’s a middle eastern landscape, they obviously differ very much but fuck like he said why do we have to pay 200$ to play the Middle East .

      I agree, it looks like the only fun part of the map are the Zagros mountains but with the airfield layout that’s not viable, I wish they had thought of having the Zagros mountains as the center of the map instead

    • @longriflem14
      @longriflem14 3 дні тому

      Cause they are missing so much stuff in those maps. Just like here in Iraq. You got central and bits of NE. But it's missing a whole shit ton of Historical Stuff . Personally released it way to soon without developing more of Iraq. Same with AFG and Kola. That's why you don't see them as much is my guess.

    • @lukewilliams8835
      @lukewilliams8835 3 дні тому

      @ yeah your prolly right and that makes sense I just hope it doesn’t turn people away from getting them in the future cause I’d love a gray flag type server on Iraq or something like it

    •  3 дні тому +1

      The other point is that most people do not have enough space for those maps. I love Kola map but I do not have it installed anymore. It takes MASIVE amount of disk space. I was unable to update DCS because the update itself needs tens of GBs and there was not enough space left on my SSD. I have 500 GB SSD only for DCS btw. I will not buy another SSD just for a map who no one is playing online. But if more people are in situation like me, there will be never anyone playing it online so what will force me to buy new SSD to accomodate this map and start playing it? See the problem?
      The maps are simply too big. That is one big obstacle of having them used. You just can't have them all so you keep only those which have players online. Default Caucasus and Syria mostly. Both of them are massive terrain features like explained in the video. Even flat parts of the Syria are not that tragically flat. This is the other reason for maps not being favored. It's like flying over the water. Is Marianas played? Not that much. Because it is mostly flat. So HDD size and flat terrain is what is killing the maps.
      I get it that those maps have historical importance but are those few geeks who appreciate that pay for your bills ED? I am not sure... That may be also part why they are so expensive - to compensate fewer sales. But that is pure speculation.

    I would buy it anyway.Syria Iraq Georgia and Balkans are all i need.In my opinion somehow terrain looks more realistic in Iraq map.In Syrian map its a bit cartonish.My i only issue is lack of single player missions or a champaign.Dcs also need to implement a dynamic champaign if not a tdm with a purpose at least

    The NW Zagros mountains would be, as you say, great for Cold War era Iran Iraq War F-4 vs MiG-21 stuff except for the fact that THEY HAVEN'T SAID THEY'LL PUT ANY OF THE IRANIAN BASES IN THE MAP. Everything to the east and southeast of those mountains will be "low detail" i.e. a big bunch of nothing with no other purpose than to make the map seem big.

    The baghdad area and other cities (Rammadi etc) are big and very well done, in my opinion. So I think even though those areas are flat, there's a ton of use and value.

      I completely agree. Iraq is the central region of most real conflicts involving major DCS aircraft such as F-16, F-18 and Apache. I never understood all the haters surrounding this map and why they keep saying "Another desert map...".

    • @skeppo5586
      @skeppo5586 4 дні тому +1

      @@leonardoetc3565 Its because we have 4 ish maps already in the sandbox. Yes the history is there but if you let that dictate what maps are made for the game you end up getting only just this part of the world in the game with maps that feel the same. Variations in maps are a good thing not every map needs be in MENA just because almost every war the U.S has been in has been in MENA since like 1991. It would be better if they spent time developing a maps of the bearing strait, taiwan strait, hokkaido, korean peninsula, canadian north/arctic, northern australia, vietnam, germany/fulda gap, Florida/cuba, luzon strait, visayas, and the himalayas. All these places ive mentioned are not in the sandbox and are either once geopolitical relevant during ww2 or the coldwar and or geopolitical relevant today and they all have history of wars being fought in those territories.

      @@skeppo5586 you do realize the US wasnt the only one fighting in the middle east right? I feel like a lot of people hear or see the middle east and instantly think US. Maybe look up some history of some other countries and you might be shocked by what you find.

There might be some interesting SP campaigns for these in the future but I'm sceptical about how much these two maps from ED will actually get worked on and improved

      The whole idea is, to give us customers a chance to provide feedback, add stuff to a wishlist and/or communicate preferences, when it comes to make decisions on detailed areas and focus points, because there's a need to balance performance.
