good morning happy family I suggest you go to Pulau Payar Marine Park, not far from Pulau Langkawi to see the beauty of marine life there. I'm sure you guys like it. The price of the package may be a little expensive but for once in a lifetime, it's very worthwhile.
The last time we were in Langkawi it was during monsoon season as well. we did as much we could during the short trip but it was raining everyday and didn't get to all of the places we wanted to explore, but it was still a great experience.
The southwest monsoon that blankets the west coast of the peninsula around May to September is not usually too bad. There are breaks in the storms as the rain doesn't pour for very prolonged periods. The northeast monsoon (around Nov - March) which affects the east coast and coastal Malaysian Borneo can be more severe. By the way, last I checked french fries / chips are not part of traditional Malaysian cuisine! 😄
That is actually REALLY helpful regarding the monsoon patterns in this part of the world. Thank you. AND we did ask them to add the french fries for the kids :-) Have a lovely weekend ❤️
@@TheBackpackingFamily , glad you find it useful. It’s all a matter of geography. The peninsula has a mountain range running down its middle which acts as a natural barrier between the two monsoon systems. On the western side, the sea is a relatively narrow and shallow strait (Malacca Straits) that rests on a continental shelf and the peninsula is somewhat sheltered by the large Indonesian island of Sumatra further west.
@@krisgakakrisqu0717 , October should be fine. The northeast monsoon starts around November and lasts to about March. This monsoon also affects primarily the east coast of the peninsula and Malaysian Borneo so you should be ok visiting Penang on the west coast. Even if it does rain during a monsoon season, its only for a few hours tops and you can pretty much go about most of your day.
