Hey there guys!!! So I did my very best to discuss this incredibly complex concept concisely. Wow! That was hard for me! Lol! Please feel free to share knowledge in the comments section and help each other out! I know that there are things that I missed or just simply couldn't fit in the time frame.
I just started watching these videos and I am so ready to start the CG method. Quick question though, is your hair color free in this video? I have an apt for cut and color coming up and I am wondering if the CG method consists of no color... when I say color I mean blonde streaks in my hair, which I have been doing 10+years. Thanks!!
Jessica Morgan if you are going to follow the cgm exactly than no you can not color your hair, highlight or use styling tools because they are very damaging to the hair.
Hey Courtney! I've been searching your videos. My hair lost curl. It's been 20-35 dew point. Cold winter. My hair is fine, high porosity, low density. I don't have a damp feeling. I've been using moisture products. Ugh. High moisture or low protein ???
(I’m just gonna copy and paste this from another thread.) Super old comment, but anyway for me it’s quite simple when to tell there is too much protein in my hair. My hair will usually just not hold as much wave and sometimes it’ll feel quite dry and tangled (when I don’t have styling product in my hair, my hair can typically be brushed dry with little issue, but it can’t be brushed dry when there is too much protein). Having too much protein can make my hair poofy (not in a good way). I’ve never seen my hair with protein _buildup_ per se, but I’ve just seen the immediate effects of using products with too much protein. I hope that helps.
@@gummy5862 not true for me at all. My hair doesn't hold waves when it's too MOISTURIZED aka has too much moisture. Then I need more protein. That comment didn't help (for me anyways) because it's all opposite and the effects of too much moisture, except the tangled part. My hair does get tangled when there is too much protein. But the holding wave part is when you do want to use protein because protein gives the hair structure as in it will help with holding your natural curls or waves. So I guess I disagree with some of this comment 🤷🏼
@@palestar828 Well yea my waves don’t hold when they’re weighed down by too much moisture either. I mean my hair was almost bone straight a couple times when I used protein products (my hair is moreso straight/wavy than wavy/curly or curly). Such an incredibly helpful video Courtney. Really has helped me realise that my hair is over moisturised, and that is why it is dry, frizzy and candy floss like. All the research you have done is very much appreciated. ⭐️
I had a similar experience where I was afraid to use protein at first too! I'd watch videos or read posts and people would warn about using too much. But really that's what my fine hair needed!
BEST VIDEO EVER!! Sister, everything you said about your hair is exactly what I've experienced/discovered about my hair. I will be recommending this video to every curly/wavy person I know. I also used protein-free products for the first three months of starting CGM and was so frustrated. I was told by a CG on Instagram to try protein. Shazam! What a difference maker. My hair LOVES protein. Today I used Curl Junkie's conditioner with protein and a styler with protein and boom, curls. I also love the Curly Junkie Repair Me protein treatment. I use it about twice a month and my hair loves it. I have to use at least one product with protein each wash because I so easily get over-moisturized. You've explained everything so well. Thank you, thank you!
Thank you JESUS! You answered my prayers with this video lol I'm currently struggling with protein/moisture balance. My hair tends to get over moisturized easily and doesn't like protein too much.
Thanks for the video! :) Yes, please, a video on flash drying would be fantastic. I get flash drying on my thick coarse 2c hair when I use aloe or coconut.
Super helpful info! I just can’t tell what my hair needs....it would be awesome if you could do a part three explaining in further detail what the symptoms of each side are! Like gummy, brittle, etc. etc. I’m not sure what those terms mean exactly!
Super old comment, but anyway for me it’s quite simple when to tell there is too much protein in my hair. so...I'm an anomaly! I have thick, coarse hair and get over moisturized so easily! After much trial and error I think I've finally learned that one gelatin treatment a month, plus 6 drops of neutral protein filler in my moisturizing conditioner each time I wash my hair is a happy combination! Sometimes I use a gel with protein in it when styling. Thank you for all of your research and videos! It has helped me so much on this crazy journey!
And I knew that there would be outliers to my general statement about fine and coarse hair. I'm and really excited that you KNOW your hair!!! Seriously, that makes me so so happy! 🙌
this was SUPER helpful! My hair is definitely in moisture overload, wondering if it's actually gone to hygral fatigue.. The hairs sticking straight up is me as well, I was so confused when it happened! Going to go grab some protein ASAP ❤️ Thank you 😭
I struggle with this as well. But I have noticed that when my hair is properly moisturized (or what I believe that to be), it forms lovely lovely spiral clumps almost as soon as I start scrunching upside down. When my hair is greasy, I get a lot of "wet frizz.". I also got wet frizz once when I over-clarified, but I could physically feel that the hair was dry, even though it was wet. The wet frizz from greasy hair was different.
This is was way eye opening... I'm pretty sure... I have majorly have this. I've had issues with atenna frizz as you call it. And I never knew why. Thank you so much.
Any possibility you could do a video on seborrheic dermatitis? I remember you saying in one of your videos (yes I watch them and love them all) that your sister has it. Wondering what to she does for it and how she manages it. Thank you for another lovely video!! Best curlytuber out there!!❤️
I use a salicylic acid serum by The Ordinary (super cheap) on my scalp once a week or so and has made a difference for me! Not cleansing/exfoliating your scalp often enough and allowing product buildup is part of the problem
I have learned so much 💖. I am glad I found your channel. I now understand why I have fly aways and bendy curls. I kept thinking I needed more moisture, but I need protein. Now to figure out where to start to balance it out. Thank you!
This was so helpful. My hair is limp, but seemingly dry. The dryness has me moisturizing, but now I know it can be a sign of too little protein. And I hope some more strength can help the flat parts lift up.
Hi guys! How do I choose which part of my routine to pick for a protein treatment? Like do I go for a protein low poo, conditioner, deep conditioner or the leave in?
Your overmoisturized picture looks like my hair right now! I was starting think I needed protein, which is why I searched out this video and now after watching I am 99% sure that's what's going on. Thank you for sharing this!
Hello! Thanks for this video. I’m trying to find a balance right now. I get stringy waves that won’t clump when I use protein. I’m going to try to ease up on the protein instead of trying all the things. One suggestion, when you are mentioning products, can you say the name instead of “this”. I listen to a lot of videos instead of watching because I’m at work. 🤫 😆 you mentioned a conditioner and I didn’t catch the name and I couldn’t tell what it was on the bottle when you held it up. Love the information you share!
thank you so much. I couldn't figure out why my hair is struggling so much and kept moisturizing it. I had no idea about proteins but I can tell I need it!
Same! I couldn't realize why with all the moisture products I use- my hair still just seemed so damaged. I wish I would've known about the protein balance earlier.
Courtney, I recently bought from Whole Foods a new product to me: Alafia Repair & Restore Curl Defining Cream Gel with Baobab & Argan. I'd love to see how it would do on your hair. Seems to me I get soft ringlets from this stuff! Thanks!
Great job! You're adorable! Ty for info.?..I'm STILL struggling to get get soft, touchable hold such as what I see on u!! Sad to hear my CHI Silk Infusion probably ISNT what I've needed.... sniff sniff.?..😢😢
I over-courtneyed! The other day when I saw your damp styling video I grabbed my biosilk gel, and things did NOT work well. I was able to fix it by refreshing though! I wet my hair down with a mister bottle and added a couple pumps of cantu's wave whip to each section. That stuff made my hair clump up so nicely, and makes my hair really shiney too
I am so glad this popped up on my feed today, turns out I am over hydrated, and need proteins! I took the tip to not add protein early in the CG method so I have stayed away. The longer I do CG the longer my hair stays soaking wet after wash day. Hours to dry after diffusing on low/ low for 45 minutes. I think I hit this a bit early only 1 month into CGM, but I have not dyed my hair in 8 years, as well as I maybe used a curling iron once a year and only used a hair"frier" in the winter when I had to. SO really it was just a product and technique changes. I have super fine hair that is very dense, I have the little hairs standing up on end waiving as I type lol. So glad I have something that I can do about it, order some products with protein, and slowly work them into my routine.
Hi! I have very fine hair, but it hates protein. Even products with protein very low on the ingredient list would make it brittle and stringy instantly. So, I've avoided protein this whole past year (just had my curlversary). However, lately, I'm thinking my hair is overmoisturized. I'd like to add a rinse out product (such as cowash or conditioner)--that way the protein isn't sitting on it for several days before the next wash--just in case. lol However, while I've found some that might work, they all contain glycerin pretty high on the list. Here's the deal. No one talks about this, so I don't know if it's simply unfounded or just me. This may appeal to your science-y side. Glycerin is a solvent. In and of itself, this isn't necessarily a problem. It becomes a problem for those of us who use demi and semi permanent hair color. The glycerin "lifts" (fades) the color much faster. I found an article on naturally curly that suggests this too, but no one else talks about this potential downside to glycerin. My color does fade (even in one wash) when glycerin is high on the ingredient list. I use a demi permanent, so it should last longer than a semi, but it still fades with glycerin. I don't suppose you'd like to do some research on this? LOL When I use totally glycerin free products, my color lasts so much longer. So, how do I find a rinse out product with some protein that won't fry my hair AND has very little or NO glyxerin? To make matters more difficult, I only use cruelty free products. I thought the Neutral Protein Filler would be perfect because I could add as little as I want to my own products...but can't find information on whether it's cruelty free or not. *sigh* Love your channel! If you'd like to delve into the murky underside of glycerin that has nothing to do with dew points, I'd be grateful. Have a fabulous day!
I think I’m in hygral fatigue. 😳 I don’t know where to start! A friend recommended protein and I’ve started using a protein mask the last couple washes. I just don’t know what I’m doing!
So what about coconut oil? Is it adding to the protein in your hair or is it mimicking it? I'm still really confused about that. And if it's adding to it, can you use it as protein in your hair??? As a protein treatment? Ahhhhh!!! 😱😱😱 I'm so confused! Please answer. I'm just getting started on all of this at 35
What do you do if you have a mix of fine and coarse hair throughout? And the fine hairs are wavy and the coarse hairs are distinctly curly. I'm trying to figure out how to use that to my advantage (read: use the structure of the coarse/curly hairs to give the wavy hairs support and lift), but I'm a bit lost about how to do that.
I need super protein boosts every few washes. Mill creek biotin or keratin shampoo and conditioner have been fantastic for me. Found them on the bottom shelf at sprouts, hiding! Also b-bliss is the bestest. Use it every wash day
I honestly have no clue if Im moisturizing more than needed. My hair is very healthy thankfully and Im not recovering from heat damage or treatments/color. But I have started to introduce weekly deep conditioning, but i do use some products that have protein like blueberry bliss and a couple of my gels or creams. My hair seems to love cowashing although this last one did make a bit of my wave fall out despite it having a protein in the cowash. My hair just feels mad soft LOL I think sometimes we can overthink these things when we start out and we can make ourselves feel a bit nuts.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney ya and recently my hair has felt dryer, I was using BounceCurl for 2 weeks strait to I could properly review them on my IG MuslimCurlyGirl and I think it was protein overload for me...
How do you know when it’s too much protein? With the drama of the deva curl situation, I’ve been doing a lot of research and realized my hair is in Hygral fatigue. I’ve used a protein mask the last two times I’ve washed my hair (since I learned about my hair being in hygral fatigue). I just don’t want to use too much protein but don’t know what point is too much. Help!!!
I have started the cgm 3 weeks ago, I have very fine thin hair. I thought I needed a lot of moisturizing products and now it’s over moisturized. I have those sad curls and antenna frizz. I just ordered some protein products what do you recommend I do with them? Should I apply the for 30 mins? I also got the mop top conditioner, custard blueberry bliss leave in and bounce curl clarifying shampoo.
Are there any products that have a combination of moisture and protein? So that we don’t have to diagnose ourselves. I am new to the journey and finding it difficult to figure out what the hair needs. 🙏
So helpful thank you!! This is random, but do you know ASL?? If not, I think you could pick it up really quickly, you naturally make things VERY visual with your hands lol
I think I fell into the same trap of overmoisturizing in the process of trying to avoid protein. This is a great help, though, and I think I caught it before it did too much damage. Hopefully combined with my recent hair chop and not letting myself get overexcited about moisturizing I'll have my curls back soon. XD I did get a sample of the Curlsmith Bond Rehab Salve at my local Ulta and I think that helped, but I want something else I can use more often. Hopefully I don't overcorrect.
I had a bad experience with oplaplex and made it really dry so I tried to fix I think I got to much protein ? Every time I use a mask with proteins it gets drier ?
I just did a no product wash day......we have VERY similar hair types, 2B, sometimes 2C texture, high porosity, high density, very fine hair. I did a no product wash day, with a ton of frizz! I washed with giovanni tee tree triple treat shampoo and conditioner, and followed that up with Curls Blueberry Bliss leave in. Let it air dry. It's a hot mess. Any thoughts welcome.
these videos help so much I am just starting out I don't know if my hair is really damaged like you said the halo frizz and just really dry and frizzy it seems like. the curly and waves are there but I am trying to figure out what works best. I just ordered the blubbery bliss to see if I need more protein I also heard that if you hair is colored blonde you might need more protein correct me if I am wrong! I love you hair and videos just trying to figure out how to start my curly hair journey!
Not sure that's a fact for everyone because I have fine hair, but I'm protein sensitive too. My hair needs more moisture than protein, it goes really horrible when I use protein :(
So I guess I’ve been deep Condition way too much so it made my hair over moisture I have now been adding protein to my hair how long does it take until I get my curl pattern back
IDK but my hair does not react well to aloe vera or rice water rinses 😂. I get better results when I use products with shea butter, argan oil, etc than with coconut. I just started cgm. Protein sensitive or still under moisturized? 🤔
Hi Courtney!!! I LOVE your videos! I want you to consider doing one on the best foams/mousses for your fine hair! Your tips have inspired and helped me so much! I love your funny, sweet spirit and that you are a little bit of a science nerd like me 😆
I'm new to all of this. I occasionally use a protein enriched shampoo and my hair is nice and soft. However this morning I tried a protein enriched pre -wash treatment and after washing my hair is dry. Is that too much protein? Or does my hair not like the product? Can anyone help? Thanku
Thanks for the info Courtney- so helpful as always! :) ... I've been following CGM for 7 months now and maintaining the protein balance has been the hardest! I feel like my hair seriously can't get enough- but I'm so cautious with how much I use because I too have read horror stories... guess I might need to loosen the reigns a little.
This is where I'm at. I am about to do an aPHogee treatment but do I need to avoid products after that with protein? I have porous wavy hair with some highlights that's just try in it's natural form.
@@fayeberman9218 speaking just on their products and not the brand values, ya their products keep on changing into wonky formulas and it's super unpredictable and frustrating.
What about clarifying as to help correct or just avoiding what you have to much of in your hair to begin with instead of jumping from one extreme to the other?
@Swavy Curly Courtney I LOVE ❤️ all the help you provide us CGs, you’re such a blessing! Gorgeous Hair! I was wondering if you could either tell us the name of the product you’re holding up or hold it closer to the camera, I’m trying to read the label and all I can see is a white glare... so sorry 😅. I’ll try and figure it out from your info below the video. You’re so good to do this for us, thank you so much. God bless you abundantly 🥰. Oh...p.s. what is “slip ”?
ImNewPJ she has them all listed in the description box and links to buy them online. I have to take notes on all this stuff or I won’t remember anything so that’s how I found it. Oh and “slip” is how slick a product makes your hair - I think it’s a term used mostly in reference to detangling. Like when you are washing and your hair is “slipping” around and easy to detangle. Hope this helps you. 💜 have a good day.
What is the name of the product you showed between the Giovanni conditioner and the curls blueberry bliss leave in? It had a greenish label but I didn’t catch the name even when listening again.
I LOVE YOUUUUU❤️❤️❤️ this vid was sooo helpful I am definitely over moisturizing my hair 😢 Brb going to buy some protein stylers rn!! Seriously God bless you thank you so much for these infos💕💕
I'm fairly new to curly girl and have NO clue if my frizz is lack of moisture or protein. It's also winter in Maine so everything is DRYYYY up here. Does environment affect what your hair needs?
I could really use some advice/help with this cgm. Thank you 💕 all of a sudden my hair stopped curling this is my 3rd week into the cgm. I had been using moisturizing products, is it moisture overload? My hair was pretty healthy starting in I hardly ever used stylers and did highlights over a year ago. Got a big chop right before starting took about 12 inches off my hair. I don’t know why it isnt curling anymore. Eventhough im using the same amount of product and have tried different gels. I use Uncle funky, mop top custard or orange marmalade as curl enhancers and then top it off with a strong holding gel.
Biotin is not a protein. It is a vitamin, known to enhance hair growth, but also it might turn out it enhances growth of unwanted tissue like fibroids. Not enough studies on this yet.
Is there any way you could have a session focusing on moisture/ products that are hydrating without much protein? I have low porosity hair and it’s hard to find a good product recommendation.
I've been looking forward to this video! :) My hair has mostly seemed to really need protein but it's been awful the past few days and I'm wondering if I've overdone it. I had ordered the shirt you're wearing in this video and it is out for delivery today; yay!!!
YEAYYYY I'm so excited for your shirt!! And it is definitely possible to over do it on moisture OR protein. Just keep listening to your hair and adjusting your products as you need to!

Hi Courtney! Thank you for doing the hard work of making informative videos! I hate researching this stuff... You're videos make it fun and easy! :D Question: Do gelatin treatments wash out of your hair like egg masks? Would collagen be better to use and would it work the same?
Hi Courtney, my hair also loves protein. I use the aphogee 2 step treatment monthly. Can you compare and contrast aphogee vs the gelatin treatment you use which I will try soon? Thanks!
G-D bless you! I’m having this issue now. My hair is super soft, but does not hold a curl for nothing. I have been CGM for years! Think it’s time to try a protein masque.
True about putting egg etc. on your hair. There are limits to home remedies. Yay for science that we can make products with protein that can penetrate the hair.
Ok, I'm curious about the aloe vera. If aloe vera acts like a protein and my hair hates aloe , flash drying and making it tangled, is that because my hair doesn't like protein? Or is it something else in aloe that my hair doesn't like? I can use flaxseed gels just fine, as well as most leave-in conditioner with hydrolyzed protein (like curls blueberry bliss) but if anything has aloe in it my hair just instantly rejects it, which sucks since so many products these days have aloe in it.
No I don't think that if your hair hates aloe it will hate all protein. It's possible that it is just something in the aloe that your hair doesn't like.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Thanks! I'd really love to find out what it is about aloe that some people's hair doesn't like. There are doesn't seem to be much info out there about why it flash dries some people's hair but not others, at least none that I've been able to find.
Gosh! Love your videos. I am new to this and really confused. It seems like a lot of info, anf a lot of trial and error. Silly me, I thought I would find a product line that worked for me and be set! I guess this is a balancing act and requires a developing relationship with your hair. Where do we even begin?
Okay Courtney are you telling my that I have to go out of quarantine and get a protien mask to fix my hydral fatigue and I can not do any at home protein treatment!?
ugh everyone is all cover your head in coconut oil...then my hair feels like straw. I want to try curly girl method and been watching all your videos. It seems so much difficult to find the right products in Canada.
I have a combo of very course hair mixed with fine hair which makes it hard to know what it needs. Also, I live in a very dry climate. Is it even possible for my hair to be over moisturized considering that?
does the logic follow what happens with protein from eggs washing out to beer rinses? As someone who has made beer, I refuse to believe there is any more than trace amounts of protein in it anyway. But people are saying this! Can you science this please?
How do I fix protein overload? I'm so scared :( been using a keratin shampoo for over 3 months :( my hair is now at the falling out stage. Really bad :( I didn't know about keratin overload.
GamingWithMus do the opposite use moisturizing products and deep condition. Watch Manes by Mel. She is a hair stylist and knows her stuff. She had a video on this and she said to do the opposite.
Hi Courtney! I've been experimenting and I'm really keen to buy a protein treatment, but the Curl Junkie Repair Me! treatment is £50 here in the UK - do you have any recommended alternatives? :)
True...I haven't found much in the way of scientific studies on which proteins do what. But you might check out the science-y hair blog. She has a great article on different sizes of protein and which protein sizes are effective and which ones aren't/
I can’t remember where I saw it but basically it went over the different proteins and their sizes. Some are larger (fill bigger gaps) and some are smaller. I think that has lots to do with if a product with protein works or not. It may not be that we don’t need the protein it just isn’t a good fit for our hair. So yeah, adding that to my list of things to keep track of. 😩

And I knew that there would be outliers to my general statement about fine and coarse hair. I'm and really excited that you KNOW your hair!!! Seriously, that makes me so so happy! 🙌
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney I wouldn't know my hair as well as I do without all your videos!
Thats exactly how mine is! Im on the way to figure it out but it's hard😕😂
Karissa Seim exactly what my hair is like
this was SUPER helpful! My hair is definitely in moisture overload, wondering if it's actually gone to hygral fatigue.. The hairs sticking straight up is me as well, I was so confused when it happened! Going to go grab some protein ASAP ❤️ Thank you 😭
I feel like I confuse moisture with “being greasy”...could you explain the difference between the two???? Thank you! 💜💜💜
Hair should not have a film of oil when you touch it. When you touch it, it should feel silky or plushy.
Frizz can be frustrating! And hard to figure out what causes it. So many factors! I am glad this helped out there!
Any possibility you could do a video on seborrheic dermatitis? I remember you saying in one of your videos (yes I watch them and love them all) that your sister has it. Wondering what to she does for it and how she manages it. Thank you for another lovely video!! Best curlytuber out there!!❤️
WOW! You really do pay attention! I will try and pin her down and see if we can film a video about it!
Yes! Ever since I started CGM mine has gotten worse.
Yayy!!! Glad I’m not the only one out there struggling with it!
Yes, please! I struggle so hard with this.
Thank you for sharing this!
my hair hates pure aloe from the plant and coconut oil, my hair might hate protein but I feel like I need it, I honestly don't know what to do
Same :D
Great info Courtney, especially the info on protein “imposters”. Thank you!
Doing the lords work👌👌 your videos are so good
So helpful!! Do you think hair being protein starved can actually cause hair loss?
That stuff made my hair clump up so nicely, and makes my hair really shiney too
Yeay, I am so excited to see part 2 😍 . Part 1 was awesome, congrats ! 😘
Awww thank you CrisT!!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney Hugs and kisses from Romania ! 🤗😘
I just discovered these videos and Im loving them!!!
Really this can be super super hard to figure out when you are first starting out. I totally agree with you that we can totally over think it.
We can't see the product brand. Can you say what the brand is while doing your videos?
Are there any products that have a combination of moisture and protein? So that we don’t have to diagnose ourselves. I am new to the journey and finding it difficult to figure out what the hair needs. 🙏
So helpful thank you!! This is random, but do you know ASL?? If not, I think you could pick it up really quickly, you naturally make things VERY visual with your hands lol
Does hair feel thinner when it's over moisterised? I'm freaking out haven't slept in two days I don't know what's happening
My hair is fine , lo porosity, med density . And my hair loves mosture and hates another of protien..
Not sure that's a fact for everyone because I have fine hair, but I'm protein sensitive too. My hair needs more moisture than protein, it goes really horrible when I use protein :(
So I guess I’ve been deep Condition way too much so it made my hair over moisture I have now been adding protein to my hair how long does it take until I get my curl pattern back
Oh my goodness, I, too, was researching protein and got scared. I've been avoiding it. May have to try using it.
Thanku
Thank you for your always clear info video. BC Cream Gel causes flash drying to me as well, I don't know why (maybe aloe?)
flash drying is a protein sensitive reaction
Thanks for the info Courtney- so helpful as always! :) ... I've been following CGM for 7 months now and maintaining the protein balance has been the hardest! I feel like my hair seriously can't get enough- but I'm so cautious with how much I use because I too have read horror stories... guess I might need to loosen the reigns a little.
This is where I'm at. I am about to do an aPHogee treatment but do I need to avoid products after that with protein? I have porous wavy hair with some highlights that's just try in it's natural form.
Ahh THIS is why I miss Shea Moisture so much... my hair loved the powerful protein punch it packed! Giovanni is my next brand to try to replace 😥
Nithya J should I not be buying Shea Moisture, cause I was looking at the Manuka Honey & Yogurt line.
@@fayeberman9218 speaking just on their products and not the brand values, ya their products keep on changing into wonky formulas and it's super unpredictable and frustrating.
Nithya J gotcha, thank you
Agreed! I found a hidden silicone in the yogurt mask from them!
What about clarifying as to help correct or just avoiding what you have to much of in your hair to begin with instead of jumping from one extreme to the other?
What was the second conditioner you showed? I researched 5 times and can't figure out what product it is
@Swavy Curly Courtney I LOVE ❤️ all the help you provide us CGs, you’re such a blessing!
Jessica Compton Thank you for sharing that with me, I’m such a newbie CG. So much to learn. I appreciate all the help I can get ! 🥰
ImNewPJ I’m right there with you! It’s a bit overwhelming at times. I’m a newbie too! ♥️😊
What is the name of the product you showed between the Giovanni conditioner and the curls blueberry bliss leave in? It had a greenish label but I didn’t catch the name even when listening again.
I LOVE YOUUUUU❤️❤️❤️ this vid was sooo helpful
I am definitely over moisturizing my hair 😢
Brb going to buy some protein stylers rn!!
Seriously God bless you thank you so much for these infos💕💕
I'm fairly new to curly girl and have NO clue if my frizz is lack of moisture or protein. It's also winter in Maine so everything is DRYYYY up here. Does environment affect what your hair needs?
I mad a protein test and I figured out that my hair needs both moisture and protein the question is Do I have to balance between them?
Is there any differenece for Proteinetreatments if you have high or low porosity hair?
You should do some protein masque treatment to bring back the curls
She of offering a class I think through Instagram, check it out!
Zheng Xian , she did. It is part one. This is part two.

Would Olaplex do/be the same thing?
Ahhhh yeah, it's really really possible that your hair might need some protein!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney How often do you do a full protein treatment?
I loved this video! So helpful. Thanks, Courtney!
How long it will take for hair to recover from over moisturization ?
would you recommend the shea moisture manuka honey and yogurt line for transitioning wavy hair?
Gosh! Love your videos. I am new to this and really confused. It seems like a lot of info, anf a lot of trial and error. Silly me, I thought I would find a product line that worked for me and be set! I guess this is a balancing act and requires a developing relationship with your hair. Where do we even begin?
Could you suggest an alternative to the Repair Me?
Okay Courtney are you telling my that I have to go out of quarantine and get a protien mask to fix my hydral fatigue and I can not do any at home protein treatment!?
Order online!
ugh everyone is all cover your head in coconut oil...then my hair feels like straw.
I want to try curly girl method and been watching all your videos. It seems so much difficult to find the right products in Canada.
Manes by Mel offers a lot of products from Canada in her videos since she lives there, hope that helps!
I have a combo of very course hair mixed with fine hair which makes it hard to know what it needs. Also, I live in a very dry climate. Is it even possible for my hair to be over moisturized considering that?
It sure could happen
does the logic follow what happens with protein from eggs washing out to beer rinses?
You might try a rice water rinse! 👌🏻

Is a rice water rinse protein?
Great 👍🏻 information thank you-
Curious what people think about Olaplex!? My hair is fine and fragile (I don't color or heat style), so thinking of trying it. Not sure if it's CGF.
Look into olaplex 3
huh...your sad over hydrated picture looks like my hair...whoops.
There are so many kinds of protein. Does it matter which one I use? How do I know which one I should use?
True...I haven't found much in the way of scientific studies on which proteins do what. But you might check out the science-y hair blog. She has a great article on different sizes of protein and which protein sizes are effective and which ones aren't/
I can’t remember where I saw it but basically it went over the different proteins and their sizes. Some are larger (fill bigger gaps) and some are smaller. I think that has lots to do with if a product with protein works or not. It may not be that we don’t need the protein it just isn’t a good fit for our hair.
So yeah, adding that to my list of things to keep track of. 😩
Soooo much great information!!! Haha...cabinet of shame! We all have one, right!! Thank you, Courtney!
