Just googled Mathew Goodwin. He's now 41, perfect age to start getting himself elected (he's got 30 strong years in front of him). Without googling all can see that his name is also perfect for politics (if he ever runs, his wins will be good ones). Plus he's handsome without being overly handsome, his voice is good and clear, and his manner inspires confidence. But most of all HE'S GOT THE IDEAS WE ALL NEED.
I told my students I'm voting SDP. A few of them are doing a presentation on its history and values. I also removed all the BLM posters in the classroom and asked the class to come up with a reason for them to stay up. They have yet to get back to me.
@thewellandvalley2103 is arguable then under your logic that he has removed a potential bias from his classroom environment and not done so unilaterally, he has challenged them to come up with reasons for it to stay.
This man should be the head of the SDP, the current leader is right on so many things but he hasn't got the personality to take it forward and we don't have time.
All the little parties added together would be quite a force. The country is in extremis! Leave petty differences aside and join forces in a ‘People’s Party’. There are dozens of men and women whose faces are known to the public and admired. We must have an alternative to the ‘uni party’ run by WEF. This man has got the situation in focus. He has the intelligence and the courage to speak out loud. A cool head, a stout heart and a ready tongue - he has the gifts to take the lead. Please share!
Why can I only see Matt as a PM and not simply an author. He seriously needs to run for parliament. Please put a candidate in my constituency SDP, you'd definetly get my vote.
Waveney, but to revert back to Lowestoft at next election. You and Lib Dems likely represent what two main parties should really be reflecting the 21st century divisions of the UK. Labour and Tories are so early 20th century at the root of it all.
Think Matt hits the nail on the head regarding the Tory party. For myself I've had a bit of a political journey like most. Im moddle aged now with a young family and consistently don't recognise myself in where i work (NHS), where i shop, what I watch on TV (when i bother), and as alluded to at the beginning...in who i vote for. The sheer sense of disappointment I feel about the Tory party is beyond description in polite terms. My sense of fear about Labour getting back in under the gang they present is also indescribable. A change is required and that change is decades overdue now.
Security? This government nor the next government gives a toss about any form of security, except securing their own positions of power and well being.
Makes sense he gave a different speech here than with the Reform Party, but here, gave a lot more ideas and hints to how to better campaign (which he did not do with Reform), LETS GO SDP.
I’m a member of the SDP, but to be honest, they stand little chance of making a breakthrough unless they get some serious “heavyweights” of British Politics on board 😬 I’m trying to engage with the South West branch, but their activities appear to be “good old fashioned leaflet drops” (🙄🙄🙄), and their annual meeting (last night I believe) was held at the local LABOUR Club 😩😩😩 Can they not see how badly that might have reflected on them?? (And then they clashed with the England-SA rugby match too 🙄🙄🙄) I would absolutely vote for them if they “went national”, but at the moment almost no one has heard of them 😢
Graduates are now looking more closely at immigration. When they graduate especially in london they have rents of £2.500 per month where immigrants in socisl housing in Kensington pay £500 per month probaby paud by the taxpayer as they survive on benefits. They think London will become like American towns where theyve become ghettos. Those that contribute are moving out of these areas. The young are getting angry because its impacting on them personally. We need you in politics Matt you understand the issues unlike our politicians
It’s good to see the SDP strike a deal with the Reform party. We need cultural conservatism now more than ever! Labour have sold the working class down the river and the Conservatives aren’t really conserving anything.
Culturally right leaning, ecomically left leaning. Though the gospel is higher than the values of any political party, nevertheless, this would align, in my opinion, with the teaching of Jesus.
What is it with this chap? Every speech we see, there's an unaware photographer practising in direct camera line. Can'thave had the camera long, number of shots he's taking.
The assertion that all civil servants are privileged is a misconception because when people like Matt and others say the Civil Service they mean Whitehall Civil Servants and they mean senior management civil servants. So firstly there are many many many civil servants that do not work in Whitehall up and down the country in what would be classed as poorer cities from Plymouth up to Durham etc. The Lower grades of the civil service grades AA-HEO realistically employ and utilize people with working-class backgrounds, who would certainly be horrified at being classed as woke, their reason for striking wasn't about policy it was about their pay and conditions, why Matt does talk sense on some things he talks utter nonsense on things like this and trots off the usual Conservative talking point of blaming civil servants outright.
If the SDP have anything to do with Socialism, they are not on the right track. For the consequences of that philosophy, just look at the NHS. It's full of dedicated medical practitioners, up to their necks in a bureaucratic nightmare. And even the knowledgeable bureaucrats and politicians, if there are any, don't know how to unravel the muddle. It's why we are where we are: with the monolithic structure created by the 1945 Labour government. Compassion, politicised, so easily degenerates into tribal power struggles. Instead, keep it business like, serving the customer, and if you want 'free at the point of delivery', put it in the requirements specifications, and also who will have that available, if they are ill.
AFAIK, the SDP rejects the 'neoliberalism' that has meant just let the markets rip, and to hell with the effects on our economy and our people. It is important who makes things and where they come from, and government has a role in delivering our natural utilities and setting the rules for markets to operate in.
@@JaffaMcNeill The problem is that the NET Zero scam rules over Westminster, and Whitehall (the evidence is the continuity of the policies), so everything is subservient to it. Added to this, EU membership meant they lost the ability to govern, plan, negotiate, and bring out the best in people. They enjoyed being subservient to Brussels. And in a world where governments are overseeing a lot of technological infrastructure change, they have no knowledge of STEM subjects, of Business, of Manufacturing, of Trades, Crafts or Blue Collar existence, or English, Welsh, Scottish or NI community.
To compare the NHS of 1945 to now is an exercise in only proving how silly it is to introduce private motive into healthcare, the NHS of the Atlee government and for decades after was world-class and world-building. The NHS has been undermined over the last 20 years by successive governments all following a form of Thatcherism (Blair slightly adjusted it but it was Thatcherism). The UK and the US for that matter are still suffering from the Neo-Liberalism of Thatcher and Reagan. When proper common sense ideals were implemented by Social Democrats like Atlee, FDR etc.
What are you smoking? I had to live my best years through a back to back labour government that started this calamitous situation with illegal migrants and massive influx of unskilled workers. Mind you, they are all as bad as each other

THIS MAN FOR PRIME MINISTER
Reform all the way !!!
Nice crowd. I am a Reform member but its important and great to see a decent sane party emerge on the centre left.
Matt is one of the best men in UK politics today IMO
He isn't he is non aligned so he can still lecture at Kent university..😊
Thank you Matt - you’ve reminded me who I can vote for. I’ve been politically homeless for years.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 well said. MORE need to speak up like this man.
This man should be the head of the SDP, the current leader is right on so many things but he hasn't got the personality to take it forward and we don't have time.
Goodwin as Kent university lecturer would be barred if he stood for SDP at parliamentary level, sad but fact ..he is also closer to reform a shame
GREAT speech…if only we can hear that on every news chanel
Great speech, Matthew. I whole-heartedly agree with everything you said.

I've just joined the SDP; a Utopian vision and highly intelligent, conviction leader, plus English parliament
wish i could vote for him
He is right. He is one person. What is needed for more ordinary people to make a stance like he has.
Hope this party stands in my constituency and others in Greater Manchester
Matt is right about everything and has been for some years now. With his research he seeks and reflects the views of real people.

Perhaps John Cleese should speak out for them as the staunch supporter he is.
That's so discouraging. Sounds like they really need some shrewd people to work on marketing and organising.
My thought is you really need to get the finger out with the social media side of NationBuilder - used in Scotland, with great success, by ALBA

Superb. Everything he has identified is on the nail. . .and it's backed up by data.
Thank you for your insight. The same things are happening in New Zealand and Australia.
Liked your speech Mathew. Great to hear some truth.which the 3 other parties don’t do. But they lie through their teeth. Good luck Maththew.

Excellent point - only 50% understand what woke means, use 'political correctness' instead, 95% understand that.
And don't use culture war either
SDP don't say enough about levelling up
He supports farage now.....its the only sensible option this time.
