I had the pleasure of meeting Rod a couple of weeks ago as he was walking his dog and was delighted to find him as down to earth and friendly to speak to in real life as he is to listen to and read wherever he pops up . I told him that people like him and Douglas Murray , Jordan Peterson etc give us all hope and I also promised him my vote as he is standing as a candidate in my constituency. I haven’t forgotten Rod 😉 keep up the good work 🙏
Rod's comments on the statistical outcomes of children from single parent homes is spot on. I myself came from a single parent home where both parents were riddled with addiction. I did poorly at school and have mental health effects to this day. I managed to pick myself up and went on to get a university education and professional job. I also have a stable, loving family of my own. However, I always felt 5-10 years behind my peers, and not all from my background are as lucky as me. Many fall into addiction themselves. Well done for speaking on such topics, we need to talk about this a hell of a lot more.
Double parent households can still be a nightmare though, the same as some parents liberated from a dead weight of an ex can do a great job parenting on their own . Some prosperous parents for instance are not there for their kids due to careers, boarding school, or general lack of interest. Education and money doesn’t necessarily equate to good parenting.
@serenityinside1 Yeah, I suppose there are always outliers, but I expect the majority of single parent households struggle a lot more than two parent households. It's not just money and education, but they are two major indicators of lifetime success. Even when the single parent is well adjusted and earning a decent wage, parenting solo is still a massive challenge.
@@serenityinside1yeah, but the stats show the likely outcome. Your sort always quote some uncheckable “factoid”, with zero evidence to try to prove that fact isn’t fact. I doubt you’re serene on the inside.
Sadly there is a genetic confound here, it's difficult to separate this out. Your parents give you your environment, they also bequeath you your genes. It's tough to separate the cause of unwholesome outcomes out. There are techniques, which strongly suggest that genes weigh more than our overlords would concede.
William speaks such great sense! The wholesale selling of CRITICAL assets, industry and security of energy to "international finance capital" is a national disgrace! Giving away ... at a song...the very things that people sweat blood and tears and effort and lives over should be punished harshly and taken back into our hands.
People, especially in the media and politicians, ignoring the etymology of the two words use the word populism when they mean demagogy! - Populism: a political approach that strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups. - Demagogy: a political activity or practices that seek support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument. The first one is good, the second is sinister!
I would happily vote for their manifesto, but it's not getting out there enough on its own! Some major egos in the right wing/centre ground need swallowing and accepting an amalgamation of the smaller parties to breakthrough.
I didnt know anything about the SDP until Amy Gallagher joined the race for London Mayor. Now i've read their policies and found their UA-cam channel. This next election was going to be the first time i didnt vote - but now i can. Thank you SDP - i'm voting for YOU x
I predict that for the next election, no issue of any kind will be meaningfully discussed and the two biggest issues will be the Labour Party and the Conservative Party
So glad to see this is happening! Two of the people I enjoy listening to most. Some minor feedback: the stripes on the backdrop made my eyes go funny after a while! Can it be changed?
They're democratic socialists, I would say therefore that their name is well chosen. If what they stand for doesn't suit you then you'd be better off looking elsewhere to be honest.
I think we need a change in the way we vote . Conservatives are not blue but pink in colour and labour just make me shudder with fear at their potential incompetence. I think the remain party with disaffected Tories seem a good bet and if they don't perform ... Vote them out. I listened to Prof. Ryszard Legutko addressing the EU and Mr. Farage is not alone in being critical about the EU not being democratic and arrogant. I met Rod once with his wife and dog out for a walk. I asked him if he was that writer fellow, he groaned expecting abuse but I said I was an admirer of his writing a fan, he was in shock at my kind remark.
I don't like the term 'populism'. It smacks of appealing to the lowest common denominator. There is a certain arrogance to it. Same as I don't like the term 'reactionary' as it implies a lack of thought or even baseness.
Culture is downstream from the money power. The Culture is shifted from the top, down. Its also downstream from law. The establishment sometimes change law before the culture.
We are already watching a reaction against neoliberalism on the European continent, where the average European voter is fed up with governments that have attempted to impose a multicultural dogma and policy of open door migration on their populaces. Now a strong reaction is taking place and the Conservative/Labour parties are completely out of synch with this, which is why an increasing number of voters are turning to the smaller parties like the SDP, Reform, Reclaim whose policies are more reflective of the silent majority's values. I honestly believe that what has occurred in the Netherlands is now going to happen in the UK in the next General Election. The no. 1 electoral issue is illegal economic migration coupled with a rise in Islamism. Once this is sorted out, and it can only happen with a withdrawal from the ECHR, then everything else can follow. And this is the SDP's stated position: 'We will withdraw from the 1951 UN refugee convention, the ECHR and all other international instruments which deny UK border sovereignty'.
I would always disagree with the "silent majority" view of public disquiet about "current social, institutional and governmental fashion". My belief is that there is a majority that are unhappy, discontent and yes, silent, but they do not know why! I felt much the same until an incident i was subjected to at work opened up much of what I now know. It's a majority for sure, but one which is cowed and unknowing.
@@jumblestiltskin1365 I think it has reamained largely silent but now is reawakening following the pro-Palestinian marches in London that were the trigger to its taking action, particularly when it comes to which party to vote for at the ballot box.
@IvanKinsmanSDP I do wonder how more "triggers" we need. I'd have thought with the homegrown islamist cottage industry in killing, grooming, fraud et al. Brexit and all the discussion around that, the lessons seen on the continent etc that many many triggers have been pulled. I suppose this comes down to what Enich Powell once said of the British, that the nation has a startling propensity to ignore danger when faced with it. Words to that effect anyway and not said in a noble sort of stoic British way, but much like that of a chicken coop being surrounded by wolves.
Great show. It’d be even better if Rod let William speak a bit more. Rod has exposure (granted not as much as I’d like!) but William doesn’t have nearly enough. Can you rebalance a little?
The Liberal Democrat Party have the exact same polices as Labour and the Greens, and they are proudly the Pronoun-Police...Unless you mean the old Liberal Party which is still going...then fair one :)
You can't just continue to be content with wryly commenting on the sidelines how bad things are. Things are getting seriously bad. Time for solemn action.
I dont know if its laziness or just contempt for his audience but Liddle just lies. Anytime I have saw him on you tube, its always the same..Watched Peter Hitchins demolish him on-line for talking shit...quite funny
If you can’t vote for independent then I DO NOT CONSENT written clearly across the ballot paper will get the message through to the establishment, don’t settle for party tricks
Love reading about Rod Liddle, espically his wikipedia page: "On 5 May 2005, he was arrested for common assault against Monckton, who was 20 weeks pregnant at the time. He admitted the offence and accepted a police caution". Then 4 years later he uses his blog on the Spectator to complain that "men from the African-Caribbean community" commit too much violant crime
Ok then. I would vote for the SDP in a heartbeat but how? And most ppl I know don't even know the SDP is a thing anymore. Clouston is lovely sane, savvy but is not leader material inmo. He is too soft spoken & unconvincing. I like him but SDP need someone with more conviction, force & character. Sorry. SDP would win inmo if they had a proper campaign and pushed themselves out there more. All these podcasts are great and I like listening to you both very much. But most normies won't see this or care. It's a shame.
They really cannot drag themselves out of a faux left-right divide. Liddle has some interesting theories but mostly the usual tawdry right’s ideas or a misinterpretation of what’s going on. Interestingly, he mentions “patrician” and that is the curse. It’s either tinkering at the edges to make the worker ants a little more comfortable (whereas the Tories have reduced us to desperation and starvation, it’s difficult to protest when you need to work 60 hours a week to feed a private landlord) or “fully automated luxury communism” which is ridiculous, along with any form of communism. It’s no surprise that the economically screwed in the North East supported John Macdonald’s sensible tax and renationalisation policies- it’s the main plank of a more egalitarian economy which does not simply siphon money out of the veins of the poorest. They voted Brexit because they thought those under them are screwing them. In reality it’s those above. 19:24

Jordan Peterson has sold his soul to the Daily wire. Just a mouthpiece for the right

More please! Excellent listen.
Vote SDP or Independent 😊

Very well said - great point well phrased 👍
Two good blokes...Cheers from fly-over, deplorable Missouri!!
I would happily vote for their manifesto, but it's not getting out there enough on its own!

Keep pushing against the glass...It's cracking ;)

Hugely enjoyable and highly recommended.
PAW spotted in the wild
Call the authorities
Brilliant!!! 👏 👏 👏
In all ways children come last, the rights and feelings of women come first by a long way, nothing else comes close.

Peter Shore was right (on the common market), glad you spotted that. Think you have to change the name of the party though.
They're democratic socialists, I would say therefore that their name is well chosen. If what they stand for doesn't suit you then you'd be better off looking elsewhere to be honest.
Definitely a huge weak point 😯

If the nation state doesn't control international finance, international finance will control the nation state.
And that is far more important than any trans rights nutter
An excellent podcast! You must do more to get your message out..much more!
I enjoyed that. It's SDP for me!
Liddle is sad and knackered, it’s a shame how far he’s fallen
It took that train the year Trump got elected, I was not surprised by his win 😠😠😠
Very persuasive, and pleasant to hear some of my opinions from sensible lips. Could you try persuading the DUP?
William acts as a soundtrack with his permanent pre - interruption tattle as well as performing with his hands no doubt for the benefit of the deaf.
Quite right chaps, I'll certainly not be voting for con/lab/lib.
Very exciting thank you

😂Poor Rudolph 😂👍👏👌
I believe Rod was trying to recall Proudhon.
Durkheim!

We are moving beyond the old Left v Right paradigm to anti White v pro White.
Classical Liberalism has completely failed.

For some reason, I often confuse Rod Liddle with the American serial killer Rod Alcala.
Rod, it was Emile Durkheim....
Great show. It’d be even better if Rod let William speak a bit more. Rod has exposure (granted not as much as I’d like!) but William doesn’t have nearly enough. Can you rebalance a little?
Let Rod speak, for God’s sake!
All common sense
Durkeim
The Music @ Start? 😊
Rod's correct, Populism is a trite term.
Vote The Liberal Party or The SDP!
The Liberal Democrat Party have the exact same polices as Labour and the Greens, and they are proudly the Pronoun-Police...Unless you mean the old Liberal Party which is still going...then fair one :)
Not the Libs
That looks more like a llama wearing a reindeer's hat.
Don't talk about Rod like that 🙄
Exactly… can’t see a hat on him 🤔
You did mention domestic abuse, but the single parent argument has not really mentioned all the invisible men who dont care about their kids.
What a refined view 😅
34:44 - *No, you are not dreaming. This is reality. It did happen. It is happening...* 😱
You can't just continue to be content with wryly commenting on the sidelines how bad things are. Things are getting seriously bad. Time for solemn action.
Durkheim?
Just given birth to your fourth chin, Rod, I see. Ocean going berk

I like Rod, speaks a lot of sense but for God's sake man let your colleague get a word in now and again. Most annoying.
If you can’t vote for independent then I DO NOT CONSENT written clearly across the ballot paper will get the message through to the establishment, don’t settle for party tricks
Yeah, the two main parties under FPTP will be absolutely 💩ing themselves…
Well at least Rod Liddle can do a good Quasimodo

Yeah I'm done supporting this party. This isn't blue Labour, this is the worst of the Tories with pure fucking lies

I’m interested to know what the lies were. If there are too many to list, what are your top three, in terms of most easily debunked?
Judging by the accents and the "social democrat" I will just ignore you guys as UK communists.
Dont be daft
Ha ha haaaa ha
