  • How familiar is the music of John Williams? Rick Beato, guitarist and popular UA-cam educator, argues that Williams is the “most well-known musical artist in history [and] it’s not even close.” He claims that JW’s music is known in every corner of the world-even places where Bach and Taylor Swift aren’t. One could dispute this assertion, but you get the idea. John Williams has an incredible gift for melody, with harmony not far behind.
I decided to piece together a number of JW's most familiar themes from the past half century, and you’ll know them all instantly. I’ve left out three of his most iconic title themes: Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Superman. If you want to hear them played on a large pipe organ, I recommend recordings from Jelani Eddington and Walt Strony. This still leaves plenty of great music that needs no introduction.
It’s difficult to sustain an eight-minute medley on video, with no cuts or splices. However, I wanted to present a single continuous take, rather than a cut-and-paste job. I hope you’ll stick with it, because you probably won’t guess what’s coming next!
