That is the school is where my grandfather went to school from 1st to 8th grade. The hallways to the sides as you go in had places for them to put there lunches for later. The dividers were to separate off 1 through 4th on one side and 5th through 8th on the other side during lessons time and pulled back during rec time. It is still owned by a family that attend the church next door, and where my papaw still attends church as well. I spent many times playing in that old school house during church functions. it's a gem indeed!
Hey there CarpetBagger. I like your videos. Especially the beginning when you put the dead squirrel in the lunch box. By thoughts on squirrels is " The only good squirrel is a dead squirrel " Regards, Ody Slim They chew up my spark plug wires those little bas^@rds
This is so cool I live like 5 minutes away from this location and pass it almost every day. I have grandparents that went there as well I have always wondered what it was like inside. I also thought that nobody really came to explore locations in our little country town this was really cool to see.
History is beautiful, I always wanted to explore myself but am now paralyzed from the waist down, so I never will be able to access places like this. That's why I live ur videos cause I can see the world threw ur camera with u explaining it is awesome. Ur videos get me threw my miserable days and out of funks. Thank you.
Hey guys! After seeing this video, I decided to check it out myself. It's only about 20 miles from my current home. They have completely cleaned the surrounding area. It looks like tractors have tilled up the land. You can walk right up to it with no obstacles. It was a truly amazing experiencing this place as a photographer. Thank you so much for capturing it. I never would have known about it!
I live like 5 mins from here. I know some really cool stories about the old school from elderly folk that used it when it was still in semi-acceptable conditions. Neat video!
I went 8 years to a two room country school. It had a divider for the rooms. We had a stage that we put up for special occasions. I graduated from there. I was the valadictoran. It is still standing as far as I know. It's in Georgetown, Mo. It's just north of Sedalia, Mo. I really loved that school. Hated when they shut it down. A lot of memories.
Hey guys great video as always...would be cool to do a metal detect video on this place really love it when you do these old places stay safe and keep smiling
I lived on the back road in front of that school. So I'm probably 4 minutes away from there. It definitely is a cool place like you said. My sister shot a video for collage inside that school a little before you went in.
this is magnificent Woow this school is sooo old I love these buildings so much it reminds me of the cob and Co I filmed..looks about the same Era..very very nice find..
Pass it on the way to town. No graffiti. No vandalism. If you live around here be grateful and pray that the people moving here from the Northern slip pits don't bring their madness with them.
They should fix it up and make it a museum for people to see what it was like back then. When we have Jefferson Days, it shows how people were back then. It even tells the history of it.
There are a few more photos of the school I have taken on my photography page on Facebook 👍 just click on Albums & look for Fairview School... facebook.com/lovetennessee1/
Hi! I live in East TN and thoroughly enjoy your videos. I've always loved looking through old buildings and cemeteries. My Great Great Grandfather lived in the Sugarlands before the Park took it over. But, my Dad knows almost EVERYONE and EVERYTHING about the history of the Gatlinburg area. I've tried to get him to write a book, since he will be 76 in a few weeks. If there is anything you need to know about the old Gatlinburg, its buildings, or its people, then let me know. He loves talking about the history of the area, and it would make his day! He can look at pictures from 100 years ago and tell you who the people are in them. And who they were related to, and where they lived, and so on... So keep making these awesome videos, please? I really love watching them! And Thanks for getting out there and doing this!
The children's voice's led up to a good video, nice intro! this would have been a fantastic place to metal detect! it was a little dizzying at time's, but who could find fault with a guy that wear's a Led Zepplin tee shirt? new subscriber here!
I know that place I live around there close to there is a fire department and a dollar store I have never went in it but I have seen the place so many time while driving to my grandma's
Hey John! Great video. I don’t live to far from this location. Do you have an email address where I can contact you to ask a few questions about how to get permission to visit this location? Thanks!
I believe only the thin white covering over a piano key would have been ivory, not the whole key, and I did see white strips atop some of the keys - they would be very thin and very delicate. I vote for ivory :-)

I like how you 'brought it to life' in the intro. with the sounds of children. I bet if buildings hold memories.. that was it.
Only if the walls could talk.
Thanks for the video and information. I've been in there years ago but didn't know anything about it.
I live like 5 mins from here. I know some really cool stories about the old school from elderly folk that used it when it was still in semi-acceptable conditions. Neat video!

this is an amazing find! thanks for sharing and keep up the good work! ;)
Loved the start of this with the sounds of the children, well done Jon! Could just picture all the kids in there as you went through videoing
I personally love the sounds of wild song birds. To bad no one is restoring it.
I live in Greeneville TN
I use to shoot hoops in there in the late 80’s early 90’s. Short walk from my house
My grandmother started teaching in old schools like this she even taught in one room schools
I like how you added the sound effects of the children! Very nice!
Ivory overplayed on the piano keys is fairly common.
I would love to see This Old House trying to save that old school that's a TV show
What a cool place . . . imagine if they went back and restored it!
very cool find Jon how do you guys find all these places do you look online
I do find some online but for the most part its just getting in the truck and driving.

Thanks Jon, what a cool place, hard to think it's been standing there abandoned since the 50s wow. xx

The school looks bigger in the inside than the outside.
Wow I really want to go here! 👻💀👽
Hey Ray-Ray.
too bad they let it rot and go to hell this is history. Breaks my heart when I see all our history left to rot or is tore down.
I agree we don't have much history left because it's torn down or rots to nothing
Wow Jon Carpetbagger left message. My two fave explorers. Cool beautiful place. Australia
"Follow me" Carpetbaggers lingo!!
I think a lot of people say that not just Carpetbagger.

Great to see the old lady still standing! Thank you for sharing!
Too bad it was never converted to a home and kept up.
Tennessee bells, (ladies) learning how to be ladies, maybe.
