  • THIS HAS BEEN AROUND ON UA-cam FOR A WHILE, BUT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, THEN TAKE A LOOK. HINTS OF RICOCHET IN PLACES. A NOSTALGIC LOOK BACK AT THE DAYS OF FRANKE, FROESE AND BAUMANN.

I love this! You can hear how the band are trying to improvise over the sequencers - trying to find the "groove". What you hear on the actual recording is when it works. Here it's in its formative stage. What I notice (and feel deeply) is that some of their best and most powerful work is where they let the sequencer takeover and stand centre stage - often with little or no other instrumentation. I think Rubycon and Stratosfear are perfect examples of this. I think it's that "less is more" idea. Many of their sequences are so hypnotic and beautifully manipulated. Its an art form in itself.

Amazing! There are so many musicians around today who have the Moog gear at home and try to emulate the Berlin style. But this from decades ago still takes some beating. The original and the best!

Very cool footage. Half the sounds you think are sequencers were actual members playing those repetitive musical patterns and so accurately! I saw English band 'Sad Cafe' play in Liverpool using one of those very 'ELKA' string machines they sounded awesome! Thanks for posting!
