"Merely a Man" from XTC's "Oranges & Lemons" album (1989).
I thought I was listening to Tears for Fears at first lol. The singer's style reminds me a lot of Roland's voice... Anyway, what a crazy bass tone! I couldn't quite recreate that tone so I just went for that typical tone when you smack the bass strings like you're punishing them. I found an old demo of this song online which helped a bit with transcribing. I gotta say, this was quite a nice song to transcribe and cover.
