MJX has come a long way, and they seem to have these entry level quadcopters down now. Not much to complain about except for the occaisional crooked horizon.
Durability test included in this review😁. Bugs drones have never disappointed me.They are very durable and last for many years. Great beginner drone. Thanks Captain for another great review.
If a motor doesn’t spin, then it means it is either not connected to the ESC or it has something in it jamming it. Usually this would be caused by a crash. If it came like this you should have returned it the same day.
LOL. I have EXACTLY the same problem with mine! Out of the box, all rotors working, except front left. Gonna fix it myself, as the symptoms suggest a minor electrical fault.
In the meantime I have ordered a DJI Mini 3 Pro with the RC+ controller. For the problem of glare, there are now umbrellas in the accessories trade, I'll try that.
I've had quite a few Bugs drones in the past.... and yes they're rugged. I ran my old Bugs 3 into a football upright full speed.... no worries just a couple scratches... flew it a few minutes ĺater and not a problem 👌 Great video... love these impressive entry level drones...😊
Love how durable this drone it. Just like The DJI drones the batteries 🔋 fall out when they crash 💥. Why is it none of the lower cost drones like DJI mini 2 have decent object tracking on them. Imagine how cool it would be if you could track your rc cars 🚘 and boats 🚤 with a drone like you can do on some the Chinese tracking tripods.
I completely agree that the MJX Bugs 18Pro is ideal for beginners even if I've never flown a drone before. As this is my first time flying a drone, I purchased the Mjx Bugs 18pro drone. The results are satisfactory, and I enjoy it. Perhaps the next time, I'll purchase the SJRC F22 F22S 4K PRO.

Hey Steve. Great video. Love the tree. I've done that many times. It's always a heart pounding experience. So I have several Dji and Yuneec drones now. I have a Bugs 4W and a Bugs 2 SE. Still to this day my favorite drone to fly is the Bugs 4W. There is just something about it. It is very unique in the air. Thanks for reviewing the new Bugs. I've been waiting to see it in action. In my opinion MJXRC has the best entry level drones for the money. They are built strong and very durable. A blast to fly. Thanks. Dave from California.
Nice review Steve and i love my Bugs drones, still have my B2SE and the B20. Mind you for the last one and a half years i mainly fly my DJI Mini 2. This B18 Pro, has to be the best Bugs drone so far. In ending, no price shown or who is selling it. 👍
I think that at the beggining of the video , you had only 500meters distance because you were in begginers mode. I would like to watch a distance test of that drone. Thaks for your video.
Cap you are such a funny guy the poor trees will have to hide when you come out to play lol but great realistic review with great lessons to be learnt. Keep them coming Cap.
Speaking of crashing your drone, while I am still looking at the sub 249g drones because I'll be lugging it around in a backpack, I want to get at least my basic license. If only so I can add the bigger batteries and/or a floatation device. I don't know if you want to touch on getting a license like that, but how would you recommend one goes about it? Are the programs you can sign up for worth the money, can you do it all by self study of publically available material and where would one find said material, what should you look for in a good program, if you decide to go that route? I'm here for the drone content, but nice to see you cater to requests from your viewers!
It all depends on the country you live in. Most countries will have private companies that offer a course, but those are more for the 5% of drone/plane/helicopter RC pilots that prefer the course vice self study. The FAA has their rules for the USA, and in my neck of the woods of Canada, Transport Canada sets the rules. In Canada, most just write an online test and are done with it.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 excellent point, I should have mentioned I, like you, wander in that northern parts of the woods, eh! 😆 Though I hail from the other side of the country. I dismissed the idea of signing up for a program until I found a practice test and realized there is a fair bit of factual information required that you can't just summon through the sheer power of will and common sense. Is there publicly available material in Canada that you can use to prepare for the test? The reason I did start to consider a program again is that I have very limited time and it would be nice to have the required information spoon fed to me. But if they just pass on the publicly available material it'd be a waste...
@@GerbenNZ Most people in Canada write the test online, and while they answer the questions, they just google the answers. Trust me, this has been done so often that the first google hit is the answer.
Headless mode sounds so logical, why is it seemingly scorned upon - My drone I dont think has it (old DJi Mavic Air) but I have on occasion had my drone some distance away and near trees and not been sure what its doing when I press say forwards or backwards slowly, its too far to see exactly which way it is moving. Agreed that probably, no definitely, means I should be closer or use a spotter but if I had headless mode I can't go wrong. So whats the downer on this function all about? We seem happy with GPS, autohold height and auto stabilisation....
Nice entry level drone Steve. your video is just getting better day by day….. your explanation about drone in details made the video more enjoyable. Last Month I have crashed my Mavic Pro. Now I need to send it to China for repair it. Till then watching your video is the only thing I can do.
Bugs are good drones. My first drone was a Bugs 5w. The camera wasn't that great, it couldn't travel very far, but it was really fun to fly and was a good drone for its price! :)
Does it have a landing light and a sensor at the bottom like at the Bugs 16? I´will buy this one, if there is a LL and a sensor. This one is cheaper and the max. range seems to be better. Also the quality of vids and photos is a bit better i think.
Hello. Do you know why the drone doesn't record or take photos? the SD card is inserted and it still doesn't want to record, the message "Prompt You need to open the storage permission to save the file normally. Should you set the authorization? Cancel "Go to set"
It sounds like it wants you to FORMAT the card or tell it to store the data on the card. Also, some drones just don't like certain MICRO SD CARDS, especially LARGER SIZE ones or SLOW ones. You should be using a 32 gig or 64 gig card that is a U3.
I know I'm a year behind on my shopping. This drone is advertised as having a 3,000m range, but the app geo fences at 500m. Which is it? My Bugs 2 SE is really only good for about 125m before the video crashes. Also, I didn't see this on the FAA approved RID list, any updates?
@@stevenpeck5949that was so many many reviews ago that I don’t even remember. Normally on drones where the phone does not connect to the remote via a cable, the app is limited in range but without the app the drone can fly farther, although you then can’t see where your flying which is silly.
