In heroes 4 +10 morale and + 10 luck = 100% for effect. so technically this black dragon had stats 50/80 with dmg 55-110 while megadragon had 40/25 with dmg 50-100. So even 250% more hp couldn't cover that black dragon was dealing average 165 dmg while megadragon was doing average of 38.
@@ilikeanimeverymuch You're a little wrong. 1) Luck cuts the damage not by 2 times, but by 1.5 - that is, the black dragon has stats of 50/60, and the megadragon has 40/33.33 2) Let’s compare the HP of units by round: Black dragon: 400-59-36-34-33-59-34-53-56=36 in the end; (average 45.5 damage per round). Megadragon: 900-123-133-84-138-127-136-109 and minus 50 with ~71 overkill (based on the fact that in the previous 7 hits he received 850 damage (850/7=121, and 121-50=71).
Heroes IV destroyed franchise? More like - bad sales of all previous games did it ;) This one was rushed and unfinished while being released due to company needs of funding.
Company was dissolved by financial troubles of the MOTHER Company which projects wasnt successful as daughter company projects. They forced premature premiere because they wanted to suck money from theis daughter company. But it was not enough to maintain to when Mother company bankrupted, daughter company was dissolved and right to MM series sold to UBI. NWC company to 3D0 was like 2k games for Take2.
HOMM4 didn't destroy the franchise-- fans who had no clue that the HOMM/M&M setting was a fantasy sci-fi universe destroyed the franchise. When the Forge was revealed for HOMM3, clueless fans attacked the studio for "ruining the setting" when Forge was always lore-friendly since the very first M&M game. This forced them to stop development of the Forge and rush the development of HOMM4. It's not the studio that fucked up, but the fans.

I did not played Heroes 3 much but Megadragon in Ultimate mod can devour any unit in the game.
