you are a true master of growing. my deepest respect to you! my favorite moment was when you stepped into your pumpkin, that must have been a very cool moment. you nurtured the beast for all of its life and then you finally became one.
Awesome. Would love to see this narrated or annotated with you describing the process, all the tools and materials youre using, your thoughts and intentions the whole time...fascinating stuff!
@@NortheastGiantPumpkin Yeah excellent idea! Inside scoop from the mind of the grower of the biggest pumpkins! We'd all enjoy that! Blessings from Tennessee! Amazing! I used to visit Topsfield fair as a kid. I love what you guys do! So many memories!
Thanks, guys! I planted it when i wrote the comment and now the leaves have already outgrown the size of my 2month tabacco plants and it seems like it's forming flowers. Can't believe it grows so fast, hopefully will have a pumpkin on halloween🤞 Only thing i dont understand is why there is some yellowing on the leaves, maybe cuz i put it directly in sun, will do some research
Love the compilation of all your shorter videos! I grew your 2480 here in Oregon and got 1214.5 pounds that came in 15% heavy. I picked that one first and ended up wishing I had let it grow another 3 weeks.
. @NortheastGiantPumpkin Yep! Excited about next season. Looking forward to the seed auctions coming up. I did five plants last year. Not sure if I am up for that many again, but would like to take a run at 4300 pounds and a jacket. Are you growing next year? How many plants do you typically do?
Awesome. You should have taken a picture of yourself from inside the pumpkin saying "you'll never guess where I am" at the very beginning of your video. Google says you'll get a thousand seeds from a giant pumpkin. It doesn't look correct. I was just on ebay where people want $5 a seed for 1000 lb examples. I'm retired and always wanted to try it, not to your extent, of course. I was wondering about the amount of light per day on the seedlings. I should read a book about this but am taking the lazy route and watching youtube. I was totally absorbed in your video. Great job.
I don't know how I forgot to ask you for a recommendation for seeds. Do you recommend anyone? I'm not going for a record. BTW I used to work for a manufacture of industrial equipment that made pelletizers. As the lab manager I got all kinds of manure. You name it I had it. I tested them in the garden and worm casting beat everything except for one with a non disclosure agreement but I can say coal was part. Worms produce a hormone that helps root growth.
Shure but then again I was thinking hes between 30-40 lets say he had 10 growing seasons give or take thats only 10 misstakes in the temperate zone you get one chance a year, also hes using many advanced growing manipulations so to speak, plus the secret growing tinkering hes doing behind the camera. This is incredible impressing and well calculated. Unless its a generational thing to contest grow, Iwe grown all my life and shure you pick up a thing or two as a child then other things come as a teenager etc but still even with 20 growing seasons this is impressive.
Great vid! I am a new fan and am going to be attempting my first giant pumpkin in 2024. Ever have an issue with too much water/ rainfall? New England here too.
At 48:39 i see you started to cut extra pumpkin. Then next day finished. Why next day? And how do you know when to cut extra and which one to remove. Thanks, I have 3 i just pollinated they are all in same spot as yours. (Big max seed) Thanks
Giving life and birth this pumpkin is more involved than getting pregnant and giving birth to my most beloved Son. I had no idea so much love and effort was made to grow pumpkins, magnificent size his one though, my baby was 6 lbs 10oz. Well done congratulations mate.
If you're growing pumpkins and want them in normal size, then you can skip a lot of the special jazz the guy did in the video. Pumpkins are great. Massive yields for relatively less work 🙂
Thanks for sharing your growing process. I learnt how to pin and bury the vines from your videos and used it for my first time watermelon patch. It's going very well. Do you cut the vine after the pumpkin forms for nutrient uptake or just so it's easy to access? God bless you. 😄
The flowers (tagetes tenuifolia) help against various pests such as: nematodes, snails, whiteflies and others. At the same time, tagetes can cause some plants to produce higher yields. If you want tagetes as a useful plant you have to choose varieties that smell strongly. The varieties that are mostly offered as ornamental plants have had their smell removed, so they are more pleasant for people but no longer help against pests.
Does your soil ripper with the two poles and 4 hooks have a brand name or official tool name, or is that thing home made? I would really like one of those.
I would have liked it to have written instructions, even if it was something simple. Have you thought about writing a book or do you know of a book that literally explains how to plant a giant pumpkin? xD thanks for the video 🎃 🧡
I couldn’t stop watching. I had some questions throughout the video so would have loved a few bullet points throughout. How many hours per day are you investing in this on average?
These are Giant Pumpkin seeds (Mutated by hobbyists and scientists). You cannot eat the pumpkin, they are for show. It's not the most amazing thing you could spend your time or use off. If they could create these to be edible then it would be a different story. 1.125 ton of inedible pumpkin. Sounds like a life saver for the future. EDIT: They spend hundreds into the thousands to get these pumpkins that big... Ok maybe 10's of thousands. Buying these equipment 12:14
Cumprimentos e,devo dizer, excelente trabalho.
I tried to grow some pumpkins. They rotted before they ripened. We received a lot of rain that year. If you know how to mix soil, that means a lot. I don't. I keep trying to grow other things.
Goodness gracious me! I could make 5000 jars of pumpking preserve with that giant pumpking, enough for rest of my life--or the entire town! Now, may I make suggestion: instead of cutting and killing that second pumpkin plant, how about taking it out of the ground gently and planting it somewhere else, letting it grow wild. Then at the end, compare your giant pumpkin to that freely grown pumpkin for your viewers to see and marvel at.
Yea bet that leaves would be last ones you eat seeing how many pesticides and whole chemical lab dumped into growing them. Definitely not edible and pure for record/showoff.
Wow! amazing! i have never seen a more pampered Squash than this! i think some people's kids don't even get this much attention

I’m thinking you could add an Amazon store too… with things you buy from vermiculite to Felcos… and that plastic!!
@NortheastGiantPumpkin it will be good, but not needed to be long, with the names of the plants feeds you use.

Can’t go wrong with pumpkins. Butternut squash is a winner too. That’s most of what canned “pumpkin” is.

Great Pumpkin, you could make a igloo out of it.
What was the reason for planting the flowers around the pumpkin plants? Was that just decorative, or was there a horticultural reason?
The flowers (tagetes tenuifolia) help against various pests such as: nematodes, snails, whiteflies and others. At the same time, tagetes can cause some plants to produce higher yields. If you want tagetes as a useful plant you have to choose varieties that smell strongly.
