I have to say you are truly inspiring. I have watched most of your videos on UA-cam thru my firestick TV so I can't leave a comment there. Today I decided to sign in via my pc and let you know how much I enjoy your style of woodturning. Beautiful work from an awesome guy. Thanks!!!
Keep the course my friend -- continue to let nature leave the form and you add the beauty!! Just love it! My new lathe (OneWay 2436) is here, now time to try develop skills as close to you as possible. (Not possible I know, but one has to have goals and heroes.) Thanks for sharing - Dennis
Wow, Dennis! Well, you won't have an excuse with that lathe! LOL! People will expect perfection! I appreciate your kind words, but I'm sure you will find you can turn to perfection whatever you put your mind to. Practice, practice, practice. Besides, it's fun! Thank you for watching and congrats on the new lathe!
Hello Dennis....I was looking through the comments on Phil's past turnings. Very impressive lathe you have Dennis. You are going to have a wonderful time creating. Stay safe, work safe. Let me know if you want a piece of Cherry Plum & I will send one off to you when you feel you are ready ......TM
Phil you will not believe how I came across this piece, it was the only wood turning video in Fish Cutting lot what a fantastic endeavour Something we would Love to own xxxxxxxxx
I love your work. I started turning 3 years ago at age 68 and I truly love it. I learned everything I know from watching you, Rob Humphrey, Al Furtardo, and Doug at pohlbarn and many others on utube. Thanks for sharing your work.
You keep testing yourself, don't you Phil? Well done! When you said you was holding your breath; I realised I was too. LOL Also, that tenon was only on a "wing and a prayer". Very good tool control, old chap! Pretty bowl at the end. You're a hero :-)
Well, yes, I guess I do, Bryan. Maybe that is how we grow? Whatever it's fun! Thank you so much for your great comment and Merry Christmas to you! Phil
I love that! I think that's the best piece you've ever done, even with all the problems you had to carve it out. My wife thinks you should make it into a hanging lampshade. She has a point.
PHIL another favorite I just love what you do with the wood turning and vision that you have on the peace you are doing you are definitely my favorite turner
HA! Well, it starts with Tuffy, Garth. Without his generosity and that of several of my other viewers, I'd be dead in the water! Thank you for your great comment! Phil
Exquisite piece! You're a brave man Phil. I truly admire your determination and persistence with this bowl. It seems that often the most beautiful pieces require the most tenacity. You had to fight to reveal the beauty here and the finished piece....wow! The inside looks like marble! Great job Mr Anderson. Keep on turnin'!
When we have wood like this, it's hard to stop short of what it could be, I think. I'm glad you appreciate all the nature in this piece, thank you, Stevan! 😊
Thank you , that was scary and beautiful. I consider myself friendly , but not quit tame...just like this beautiful bowl you created ! Someday I will be able to turn like you...
I agree that this piece is one of your best. I am always impressed that you can take some of the most unique pieces of wood and turn them into something beautiful. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as you work, it really helps to understand why you do what you do.
Hi Phil, Stunning bowl!! You certainly know how to let nature scream from the tops of mountains. You made me laugh when you said about the "factory edge". Take care my friend, Huw
What a beautiful piece Phil, I too think you are one of the best at reading wood. That’s why no matter what you turn, it turns out to be special. Thanks for sharing!
I don’t remember ever shacking watching a woodturning video. It was crazy, insane to turn without a proper solid base but YOU did. A true oeuvre d’art! Fabulous!
wow Phil i’m glad you stopped i think I was holding my breath too . I was thinking how is he going to turn this piece of wood. but you never disappoint great work 😊
A most naturally, beautiful piece, Mr. Phil. I know this video is two years old now. But I'm just seeing it for the first time. You deserve to take credit and be proud. Your patience, perseverance and talent have all paid off and served you well in this piece. It's a fine piece of art. Very well done, sir. 👍👏
Phil, So happy you were not hurt when you had the catch!! Very beautiful bowl! Please tell me if I'm wrong! End grain bowls with gouge are best cutting from center toward outside, not outside to center. I think that was a Brian Haven video I saw. Outside to middle is all endgrain. I'm looking forward to Holidays with children and grandchildren. I hope you get to spend as much time as you want with yours! Very Respectfully, Kevin
You are not wrong, Kevin. However, as long as you are cutting to the side rather than straight in, you can cut end grain. It is easier to do that from the inside out than it is from the outside in just because of being able to get a better angle. I sometimes have trouble doing that and still have the camera at the right angle without bumping into it so I choose the easier route of using carbide. I'm glad you like this one, thank you for your comment! Phil
Phil Anderson - Shady Acres Woodshop Phil, Have you ever tried cutting in reverse? I haven't yet (as I do not have reverse) but will sometime in the future. Best Wishes to you!
Phil Anderson - Shady Acres Woodshop Don't change! I like you as you. I really like the upbeat attitude. I think it comes from really enjoying turning. Kevin

Phil Anderson - Shady Acres Woodshop Phil, Have you ever tried cutting in reverse? I haven't yet (as I do not have reverse) but will sometime in the future. Best Wishes to you!
I do it only very occasionally, Kevin. Only if there is no other way. I know not all of my viewers have that option so I try not to use it.
Phil Anderson - Shady Acres Woodshop Don't change! I like you as you. I really like the upbeat attitude. I think it comes from really enjoying turning. Kevin
