This reminds me of an incident from about two years ago when my family decided to buy our first car. I’ve always been into cars, mostly through movies, friends’ cars, and UA-cam reviews (you could say I’m part of the internet generation). I knew how to drive, but we never owned a car before, so this was a big decision for us. I had a few cars in mind that I thought would be perfect, but my dad had his own preferences. Since it was our first car, and a family car at that, everyone’s opinion mattered. My only request was: anything but Maruti, and if it had to be Maruti, please not a Wagon R. But fate had other plans. My dad learned to drive in a Wagon R and was completely fixated on that car, especially the CNG variant. I was so disappointed with the decision that I had a sad, almost rude expression in every delivery photo. I had these dreams built up in my mind about the kind of car I wanted, based on what I saw online. For the next year or two, I regretted it, but over time, with rising fuel prices and our city’s driving needs, I came to realize that the Wagon R was actually the a decent choice. It’s great for our family size, affordable to maintain, and suits our driving requirements , doesn't burden me finacially at all. Looking back, my dad made a wise decision. I’m glad I followed his choice because, at the end of the day, it’s a family car, and he really wanted it. Sometimes, the things we imagine or expect are far from reality, and our actual needs are much simpler than we think.
