Ingenious! I'm going to use this for all my knitting in the round circular cast-ons. It's such a simple solution that I never thought about before. Thank you Heather!
You're welcome!! It helps so much with avoiding twisting, especially with large numbers of stitches or a cast on like this tubular one that twists all around that circular needle cable!
You could take it one step further and cast on 2 extra stitches and work the whole ribbing of a hem flat, then join in the round after the ribbing and work a double decrease at the join, removing those two extra stitches --then you'd have two selvedge stitches to use to seam up the ribbing where it was worked flat!
You could go right into ribbing if you'd like -- but that would not be a "tubular" cast on, since you don't form the tube. That would be more of an "invisible" cast on and isn't as attractive as if you work the double knitting for 2 or 4 rows/rounds and form the tube. But it is completely up to you! I was going for the tubular cast on, since I really only work this cast on to make a tubular cast on, so that's why I did the double knitting rounds.
Thank you for your wonderfully done tutorial on double knitting tubular cast on ! It feels survivable! Can’t wait to do this.
You're very welcome!

You're welcome! Merry Christmas to you too!
Thank you! So well explained
You're very welcome!
Excellent video! Can you explain why I can't just go right into ribbing? I don't understand why I need to do the two double-knitting rows.

@HeatherStorta Thank you! I didn't know what a tubular cast-on was, so I didn't understand why those extra rows. I'll have to try that!
