Wow, it may be just a humble old chair but that, truly, has to be one of the best restorations that you have done. It really did look so beautiful at the end. If I saw it in an antiques shop, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Your customer must have been so happy. Thank you for posting the video.
Real class; I love your work. I came from a time the, "throw away" mentality didn't exist. We always made sure if there was a way to repair, that was the route taken. I miss those days
I am still of the generation that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right. And you are obviously of that mindset as well. Your work is beautiful and done right down to the last gnat's eyebrow. Congrats to a woman who found her hobby and profession in the same work.
I lost my mind watching the weaver do the chair!!! It blew my mind and still is. I am personally addicted to projects. It is very exciting seeing all the projects you have to work on in the back ground.
The Before and Afters are truly unreal. Your work is remarkable not just because of your incredible skill level but your heart is completely in what you do. Applause and great respect from Michigan.
When I was very young, an aunt of mine in Massachusetts used to take in cane chairs to re-weave. I got to watch part of the process one time when we were visiting. (We lived 3K miles away.) I thought it was fascinating, but I have neither the skill nor the patience for this sort of task, so I admire those who do.
My Great uncle Jacobus made seats for a living, out of cane and rush etc. As a child I was mesmerised by his work. He was a special character. He smoked a pipe and sat on his rocking chair in the corner of their little farm house next to the stove. He wore wooden clogs and he had a Frisian horse named Piotr. Not really a Frisian name 😂 He drove horse and carriage to bring eggs around to his customers in the village of Limmen in the Netherlands. I enjoyed sitting next to him on the box. Fun memories, all came back to me thanks to you.
The 'end' photos showing how the rocker appeared when you started working on it vs the images of your masterful restoration was very nice video technique. It was easy to forget how deplorable that rocker looked after years of neglect. Well done!
Lora's weaving is truly beautiful. The patience, eye for detail and execution of her work always blows me away. I love watching pieces that you both work on together, your talents compliment each other's craft so well.
You both did a wonderful job! Laura's weaving made such a difference in the look of the chair. Just beautiful. Looking back on how it looked before you worked your magic ;) WOW!! I didn't think you could make it look like new.. Bet the customer was blown away!!
Gee this brings back memories .. when i was young i walked a blind man to work his job was weaving rocker chairs .. love your restorations ..and bring back parts of history ..
Takes my breath away every time you turn a frog into a Prince. Such a beautiful result. I will admit to mixed feelings about it going back to where it was so badly neglected. 🧐
Never got it why people love sitting in a chair that's wobbly by default ... 😂 It looks all nice and comfy, but I never get settled comfortably enough to sit in it for a while. The chair looks amazing, Trena, ready for a generation or two/three!
Yasssss! I’ve been waiting for this! Watching now. I already know you’ll hit it out of the park so I’m totally confident in posting this comment before I get to the end of the video! Haha 😂❤️❤️ Can I also say, wow, what an incredible amount of work on that seat. I’ve never seen it done so HUGE appreciation for how much time and effort goes into that! Well done to Laura!
A love of weaving along with great skill and patience is needed I'm sure! I would end up sitting somewhere in a padded room weaving baskets if I attempted to get the detail anywhere as perfect as that!
Trena, I was wondering how many of your customers sob out loud when they see the amazing transformation of their broken down family treasures. This is truly a wonderful gift you have.
What a super impressive restoration. Of all the so called 'restorers' on the net, this type of work shows so much skill and knowledge. A joy to behold.
Like I have said before & I'll say it again...u my dear r my hero. 👏👏👏Hats off to u!👏👏👏 This piece is amazing. Beautiful job! Sending u much love & respect from Missouri U.S.A.♥️😁♥️
WOW, Trena!! This isn’t just a restoration but a resurrection. I can’t believe it was in a barn for FIFTY years! Absolutely gorgeous and to look at the before pics again really makes me appreciate your incredible talent even more. The weaving work was amazing to watch as well. Absolute masterpiece.💜
I would have liked to see the customers reaction when she got the chair back! Wow what a beautiful restoration. Also that woman did a magnificent job with the caning.👍🏼👍🏼
Don't sell yourself short. It is NOT a miracle that this chair looks the way it does. It is you, your hard work ethic, and your hard work. Congratulations on doing a great job.
You did a spectacular restoration of the cane rocker. I absolutely love it! They really knew how to make furniture in those days. Today’s reproductions are rubbish in comparison. Fantastic job! 🤗🇦🇺
I have an old hospital wheel chair with cane seat and back, but mine is installed by a sheet of cane, wet and fit into place with small strips of trim and glue. I bought it because it interested me, then I looked into how to restore, and it still sitting in my shop, still finding other projects to do before I try that. Yours is so much work and I really respect your patience and skills. Great job.
I have two rockers that belonged to my grand parent and they were re caned. I treasure them. I am sure your client loves your great job of restoration. You sure do excellent work love to watch you restore furniture and bring things back to life.
The Clock teaser has me on my seat's edge. The clock face is very similar to our family heirloom clock from the 1840s, Dalkeith Scotland. I had to do repairs on it last winter after it was damaged in a move from Toronto to Vancouver. Read the fine print in any moving agreement!!! Wonderful work on the chair. John
Hi Trena, I am an amateur furniture restorer from the Riverland in Australia, learning day by day. I have watched all of your you-tube videos, and i must admit I have learnt the most from you, you are a great teacher and explain everything so well, you are a pleasure to watch. Thank you so much, I look forward to many more.
What a master of your craft you are Trena, such a gift to see you work thank you. And your right, the design and scale of that chair is simply beautiful, so refined.
You are a great artist, Tena. In this particular job you have shown enormous patience as you settled the wickers for the back and seat of this beautiful rocking chair.
My father was an upholsterer for 40+ years and spent his years before retiring restoring antiques for high end clients. Watching you work on these precious antiques with such attention to detail brings me back to when I would watch him work. Had he had UA-cam in his retirement I’m sure he would have called your channel his favorite. I am so happy to find your channel. Your skills are of a time I thought was lost forever. Thank you for bringing it to the masses.
In my mind a home isn't a home if there isn't a rocking chair somewhere around, of course the front verandah is usually the place, but wherever it is ,it's a must, my rocking chair is a leather recliner designed for nursing mothers ,but it works for me too,
OMG. What amazing work! It’s 2 different chairs! This is a Brand new chair! You have amazing talent and craftsmanship! Thank you so much for sharing the possibilities. I now view old furniture in a different light, and I am always looking for a new life for items I see discarded, on the side of the road!
Trena, Everything you do is first class all the way. The rocker turned out fantastic, hard to believe that restoration from where it came from ... and the teaser for the clock I can't wait to see that ❤ Love the painting, you're an artists too!
I have SERIOUSLY missed your videos! Your comment about this chair restoration being a "miracle" is entirely appropriate. WOW! 😳 And once again, you earn your title, The Goddess of Toning. 🤗 I totally agree about the fascinating weaving of that seat. My only caning has been with prewoven pieces for cabinet door inserts, which is a breeze compared to THIS. Wish we could have seen more, especially curious how she created the border. 😯 Thank you again for so generously sharing your amazing skills and talent. 😊
We're lucky to have you and your peers to keep this craftsmanship furniture alive. Your passion and love shows and I respect your work. The art of restoring is one that is learned and passed down through generations. Respect your videos because you teach the actions to take step by step to succeed in the business of restoration. Congratulations Madam and again, all my respects and long life to your entrepreneurship. From Quebec, Canada.
Im a big fan of rockers! I have one right now with the right arm broken off. Partly destroyed. A bored girl home alone decided to rock a 100#+ golden retriever who just wasnt having it. Would love to get it back. The job you did Trena is awesome! 💖
Wow what a beautiful piece, and your work is exquisite as always! So glad I found your channel, watching nonstop through silly illness and they are bringing so much joy!
What a transformation!! Between this chair and the clock, I have an appreciation to the time and dedication it takes to preserve and restore these pieces of history. Beautiful job! It is so obvious you love what you do!
I know this is a little late, but your work is amazing. I wouldn’t have thought you could salvage the chair. The results blew my mind. Thank you for sharing these videos
The before and after tells the story. Not many would tackle such a project and would say is due for the dumpster, but not you. This is where you shine!
Wow, it may be just a humble old chair but that, truly, has to be one of the best restorations that you have done. It really did look so beautiful at the end. If I saw it in an antiques shop, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Your customer must have been so happy. Thank you for posting the video.

I’m glad there are still people willing to do this too
I am still of the generation that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right. And you are obviously of that mindset as well. Your work is beautiful and done right down to the last gnat's eyebrow. Congrats to a woman who found her hobby and profession in the same work.
You are the best furniture restorer in Canada and Laura's wicker weaving is wonderful! Thank you,
Thankyou so much!
I lost my mind watching the weaver do the chair!!! It blew my mind and still is. I am personally addicted to projects. It is very exciting seeing all the projects you have to work on in the back ground.
That chair turned out great.Probably my favourite restoration.Kudos to your friend who did the weaving.
It is always a pleasure to watch a master at work, it is so nice to see all the different builders skills while you are restoring their work
The Before and Afters are truly unreal. Your work is remarkable not just because of your incredible skill level but your heart is completely in what you do. Applause and great respect from Michigan.
You got more chops than a butcher!🤗

That’s such a special memory thanks for sharing
The care and respect you bring to these pieces is awe inspiring. Bravo.
A true work of art. I love this rocker, so glad you could save it.
I've seen worse repairs but none better. Your customers are fortunate to find you.
The 'end' photos showing how the rocker appeared when you started working on it vs the images of your masterful restoration was very nice video technique. It was easy to forget how deplorable that rocker looked after years of neglect. Well done!

Trena, I was wondering how many of your customers sob out loud when they see the amazing transformation of their broken down family treasures. This is truly a wonderful gift you have.
What a beautiful chair it turned out to be. Truly a swan from an ugly duckling!

OMG.. I forgot what a wreck that chair was. It looks astonishing
That chair transformation is astonishing. The cane work I hope more people learn how to do it or it will be a lost art form.
Once more, such a beautiful finish. It is a joy to watch your videos. Such wonderful craftwork. Repair is an art form all to itself, you do so well.
It was really interesting watching her do the weaving. It came out awesome. That rocker is so sweet. Great job again. I love rockers.
Thank you so much!
I confess, I originally started watching your videos because I think you're pretty. Now, I'm addicted to your craftsmanship. ...and your looks.
