📜 Video Description 📜
The Check button isn't exactly the most exciting tool in your cash game poker inventory, but knowing when and why to check can increase your EV dramatically. In this video we learn where NOT betting can yield a higher EV.
See you in 3 months guys, I raised flop with AA because I was afraid of the flush.
welcome back
@@eljumbotron Ty sir! I've been missing the game.
All i know is that at my stakes, that bluff with AK is getting absolutely fist pump snap called by THE CRABS. Villain will literally break his mouse by calling so fast.'
THEY DON'T FOLD
yes they do, your bluffs are probably just bad
@@zero_zero107nonsense. My bluffs are perfect in every sense of the word.
@@zero_zero107 If they folded it was probably because you had the best hand anyway
Yep
If you are unhappy facing a cbet with KQ on Q83 two tone (and you should in these positions vs fish) just fold prelop.
In the Akcc hand would the river be shifted more towards a value bet if villain didn't polarize on the turn, with something like B75 instead of B~133? I feel like that adds more combos of Tx and pocket pairs that would be inclined to call off even with the K river given that the obvious draws (89 and cc) missed.
Yep exactly
I think the ultra long tank looks weak on the ace high board and it’s an anti-timing tell I use. Villian thinks you are trying to show strength and want a river check so is more agg to bluff river. Snap check is also pretty good
@carrot - loved the video. What happened to streaming every day in March? I was looking forward to tuning in.
Hi Pete love your videos. You mentioned at 7:26 that villains range is capped. I was wondering what your justification is for this?
They lack the QQ+ combos due to not 3-betting preflop.
2.5x pot check raise on the river after it went check check on a turn on runout that brings basicly everything to the board is always gonna be a good bluff regardless of the holding. im pretty sure even smaller sizing would of done
@5:29 You mention a JAM with A5, but that hand makes a straight on that board no?
7:20 I disagree on that one, raising there in micro / low stakes is burning money in the long run. Most players are incapable of folding boats. Calling is way better IMO.
I'm not pulling the AK-reraise-river-on-triple-board play at 25NL, any pair will snap call at those stakes so its not folding out better hands. Might call though, spot is overbluffed imo.
how will the subscription fit in with the grade 1/2/3/E poker school stuff? strictly complementary?
when you say "maybe he is merging with TT etc" does that mean he is betting with middle of his range which should not be bet since his range should be polarised at that point? Basically my question in short, "merging" = "betting not so strong hands"?
Yes.
How many hands now?
Whatever the amount you’re expecting that he’s played by now… let’s say 200-300K hands. That’s not enough of a sample to find out his true winrate. It can give us a rough picture but for a real measurement of winrate he has to play at least 1M hands. That might take him a year if he doesn’t grind often.
So, you asking for a sample rn of maybe 200K hands he’s played is close to meaningless as he could be either sunrunning and winning at an unrealistic 10bb/100 or running bottom 1% and using at -2bb/100.
@@NoLongerGrilling"true winrate" is not a static thing and you are being kinda weird with the technically correct white knighting 😂
1 m hands would take him like 3+ years, I swear Pete isn't playing like 40k hands for two years straight let alone 80k hands a month @@NoLongerGrilling
5:26 Yeah, won't find the jam with the straight (A5), guess you missed that one :P
I always raise like a donkey on these suited boards because I'm scared of flushes... it seems every time I slow play with suited boards villain ends up getting there. either with a flush or straight... its amazing... If I'm the one paying to get a draw it seems like a 1/10 probability
Its rigged
@@thePyiott It seems so... But I manage to be lucrative by clearly playing better than most players... So I don't think it is.
@@thePyiott I suspect there is a lot of collusion going on though...
Thanks for the vid
Another good one.
why is call better than fold at 17:55
Bet / Check / Bet can be an overbluffed line especially in nodes where the opponent is troo wide preflop. I'm not sure this node is necessarily a great example of this as it's a cold calling range but then again there are quite a few players who cold call far too wide in this pool. It could have been that Villain had a high VPIP in which case call is probably winning on river but I don't remember now.
@@CarrotCornerPoker also what was the result of that hand? did it get through
I play a lot lower. In my limit (NL10) I doubt that checkraising accomplishes much because very likely Zeebo's theorem is in effect. I would like to call though because I think this line is bluffed a lot.
post results from your challenge
hand 1 - vs me, villain has pocket 5s, hits his gutshot and I get stacked.
BTW - "won't fnd a jam w/ A5" ???? it's the 2nd nuts!
well, you corrected it to "the nuts", close enough.
What is up with all these captions in the intro lol
And this random zoom in is weird, really overused IMO
new editor perhaps
We have a few different editors doing different things as our main editor is busy with subscription service content. I will pass on feedback like this, thanks.
@@CarrotCornerPokerI personally thought the first zoom was very funny during your rant about just calling with AA, thought it was fitting. The one at 10:43 was dumb.
I like the quirky comments and things like the zoom in
@@joncorb540 I do like the quirky comments, no critique on Pete himself just on the new editing style
9x and 8x are folding 0% of the time to that river xr at low stakes lol
My #1 life goal is to win the nobel prize for check.
Also stupid play AKcc. You've zero implied odds. If you hit clean flush he just XF. You're way overpaying on turn and pool has set esp via big donk flop line way too often to bother.
