Yup, freiren is more racist towards demons, but for a good reason. They're basically psychopaths that have no reason to learn empathy since they can live by themselves since birth, anf thus, they grow and seeing things in q "logical" manner, which is kinda problematic to all other life. As we saw with that young demon a few episodes back, they might find solutions to problems that include killing other people, and have no problem with it, they can even live without eating humans, but they chose to if they're hungry. So okt of need for survival, humans would eradicate every last one of them, the same way they're trying to eradicate most dangerous races them, like elves, which is the reason why elves are nearly extinct by now

This was probably one of the coldest moments I've ever seen in a show. Just the sheer calm and steadiness with which Frieren says, "Aura, Kill yourself." No emotion, no inflection, no repetition, just a single flat order. She's already won and could have killed aura in any number of ways, but that was nothing short of rubbing Aura's face in it for her final moments.
I saw that particular clip before watching the show, and without context I thought that Frieren won simply by pure unwielding and uncorruptible resolve to kill demons. But a crazy big amount of mana is cool too.
The way you laughed after Frieren revealed her mana made me want to believe that's how Flamme would laugh from the grave as she watched this moment. That's my headcanon now. 😢😅.RIP fire haired goddess.
the moment Frieren reveals her true mana reminds me that scene in Overlord when Ainz pulled out his suppressing ring and that young mage girl who can see magic just puked at the sight of his mana
En la película que saldrá hay una escena parecida en la que una arquera/escudera siente un frío que consume la tierra (no puede ver el mana) cuando se quita el anillo, y su enemigo que es un monstruo se congela del miedo.
reading the manga a few months before the anime came out, it's hard to just put into perspective how that moment was one of the single most satisfying panels i've ever read in my whole life! especially after the flashback with the 'mother' demon killed off all remaining empathy i had for that universe's demons
i dont know if it is explained somewhere or even if it is the case, but by my understanding, Frieren tells Aura to off herself not because it is more brutal or demeaning or anything like that. But because she doesnt want to use magic to kill if possible. If you notice it anytime she is to use a spell to do harm, she tries to either do it quickly or like ask Fern to do it or Stark etc. I think the scene between her and her master where she is asking if Flame regrets teaching her her magic, because it is used for revenge and killing, and then Flame immediately proceeds to tell Frieren about her favorite spell and that is a spell that creates life (flowers) , all that is a way to try and "cure" Frieren's heart from hate and revenge. to remind her her love for magic. and i suspect this is also a big reason as to why frieren collects spells that seem very useless.
i know she doesnt have an issue murdering demons, earlier she blew the dudes head with her hands. but maybe she might not want to use magic for killing if and when it is possible @@huntermad5668
Huntermad is right, she usually has Fern or Stark do it because she wants to help them grow which is why she never helps them in their battles she has zero qualms using magic to absolutely butcher demons, she could’ve killed that demon boy in the earlier episode but opted to cut off both of his arms and start strangling him first before blowing his face off, she absolutely could’ve just instantly decapitated him
Lol that line was seriously so smart though. Because it means that you can be 100% sure that she's dead. Since if she had any like body double or other magic bullshit she'd have to circumvent it herself.

Stuff like this is why Flamme told Frieren not to put her name in the history books until the Demon King is defeated, as a another way to fool the demons. That's why Aura was like ''She only appeared in public records 80 years ago'', as Aura thought Frieren wasn't very old.
She did go out and kill demons until about 500 years ago but it wasn't massacres just demon here of there. She was in seclusion for all of Aura's life and any rumors would be like so and so died the fool
I mean, he was right. Because underestimating someone shouldn't matter if you're strong. Only when your opponent is strong. But even then, he somehow didn't think that the strong opponent he noticed would have strong allies.
@@WiqidBritt You can most definitely still be weaker than the opponent and win by being underestimated. But even if they underestimate them, they need the strength to use that gap to finish it if they are indeed weaker. Being underestimated doesn’t necessarily mean your stronger then them, but that your stronger then they estimated you to be. So it’s still possible to be underestimated and still be weaker. Though I doubt this applies to Frieren as she’s an absolute beast
Frieren could have just nuked the entire army in one attack, but PURPOSEFULLY provoked Aura specifically for that moment just to dunk on her. She may be baby, but she her bloodlust towards demons is scary. Edit: Yes, I know that she was also holding back to not damage the bodies as well. Still, she could have instant-killed Aura with a direct attack or dispelled way more soldiers at a time than she did. Fireren was essentially pulling her punches two-fold to drag the fight out.
Not really. She didn't blow up the army because Himmel hates that. She probably did that the last time they fought Aura and Himmel seems to have scolded her. Himmel hates it because the army consists of headless of bodies of the dead. They should be respected.
Aura literally has the army specifically as shields for her, and to exhaust frieren magic. And while she wouldn't have lost any significant amount of magic, she wouldn't have been able to release enough soldiers to attack aura before aura activated her magic, nor would she have been able to attack her without harming the soldiers bodies. If it was past frieren, she might have just devastated the area and finished off aura in seconds.
...did you miss or just refuse to care about the part that Frieren literally said if Aura used her army she'd be in trouble. Like it seems her entire plan relied on Aura using her spell early because she knew she couldn't win in a drawn out fight or at the very least it'd be very close , hell even though Aura could see Frieren's mana was "low" she still had some of her army exhaust her.
@@brodybenton-haskins9720 what? Her mana was NOT low, AURA thought it was, which is why she wanted to exhaust it to make sure it was guaranteed she wins. And frieren would NOT have lost or had a "close fight" because of rhe army, it would only take longer. Because she CAN release all of the soldiers, it would just take a while, and i am not sure of aura has and significant offensive magic other than her soldiers, but if she does, it would be a little troubling for frieren, if just to make it harder to release enough soldiers to create an opening to attack aura.
From ancient times to the Middle Ages. Until she met the team with whom she defeated the demon king. A 10-year journey and 1,000 years since she met her champion. When I first watched this anime I wondered why the city that Frieren and her master walk through looks like ancient Rome. Time flies so fast for an elf. The anime has been translated differently depending on the country. But originally it says what Aura said: Frieren the Assassin - Sousou no Frieren. Chiiiilllsssss!
You know the low tier god meme of him saying "you should kill yourself now"? After this episode came out, people made a Frieren version of that meme with the white growing eyes and everything.
I haven't seen the whole anime/manga yet, but I wonder if the fact that their eyes are exactly the same has a further meaning or just a beautiful coincidence.
I hope it is confirmed in a later season (avoiding the manga in this case cause I sure don't wanna spoil this anime for myself) that there was some sort of prophecy told to the Demon King that an elf would kill him. So he ordered his armies to kill every elf they encounter to prevent it. But it was self fulfilling because it got Frieren's village wiped out, giving her huge motivation, and got her recruited by the sneakiest milf in history.
In this episode I got the impression Flamme has some of that Lina Inverse fantasy anime DNA in her. Like an adult Lina Inverse, so...more restraint but just as pragmatic and deadly.
Aura ensured all that she captivated were made to decapitate themselves to prevent any risk of the strong willed amongst them regaining control. Frieren simply returned the favour
Yep one of the big reasons Frieren and her party had a higher chance of success is because she lived in obscurity until it was the right time. If the demon king or demonkind in general had heard word of a powerful mage constantly suppressing her mana. They would be far more cautious with even weaker mages. I imagine the demon king would have ordered a lot stronger demons to seek them out. Don't forget that Qual had to be sealed as he was too strong for their group until his magic was fully understood and countered. If say word had gotten out then Qual teamed up with say Aura or one of the other sages it might have all ended in disaster.
12:00 - The reason she was told to live in obscurity is so she had one more way to make the demons underestimate her. For instance, if she had been making a name for herself before defeating the demon king, Aura would have been more cautious instead of assuming Frieren was a relative nobody.
Flamme told Frieren to never leave her name in history not because it would be a better way to be remembered after killing the demon king, instead she said it because that would left Frieren as an "elf mage that just recently appeared, without any amazing feat" so the demons would underestimate her.
So in my mind there is a parallel to be drawn from this anime and JJK in terms of power scaling. The entire world changed when Gojo was born, because he was so ridiculously powerful, many enemies and curses kept to the shadows so he wouldn't end them. Him flaunting his power all over forced a shift in power scaling of everyone, they all wanted to become more powerful to defeat him. This led to a lot of things being so powerful any other sorcerer was basically useless against them, like Jogo, Dagon, Mahito, and Hanami only really being able to be defeated by Gojo, Yuji, or Sukuna, and Yuji needed help with basically every fight. Frieren on the other hand had a boss ass bitch as her mentor, where Gojo really didn't have anyone. She was taught to suppress her mana to deceive demons, but also so the Demon King wouldn't know she was becoming powerful enough to defeat him. This in a way kept demons power as high as any other demon, instead of them trying to keep up to and match or exceed Frieren. Had she made herself known just willy nilly hunting demons they would all know her and seek to become more powerful, but in her suppression came a kind of idleness. Obviously we see Aura has become more powerful, but only powerful enough to use her ability on normal humans, who would never be able to compete with her. Frieren's obscurity is not only a solid story component, but a power scaling choice. Also, side note, demons leadership is basically Orks, who ever is the most powerful is da boss, changes in leadership follow changes in who is the strongest.
Nah, Aura’s mana was high enough that it would’ve overpowered almost everyone else in this world, she just got unlucky that Frieren is a hard counter to demons
It's wild how people have caught on with this scene. It's pretty shocking sure, but it wasn't less so in the manga, but nobody talks about that in comparison.
The whole bit about not making a name for herself was to keep demons from knowing of her power before it’s too late. Once she beat the DK, it won’t matter anymore. Though, after living +1000 years in obscurity, how hard would it be to suddenly be talked about across the entire continent, eh?
The only thing I think Frieren could have done better in this episode is, instead of straight up ordering Aura to kill herself, she could have ordered her to kill every single demon she knows or can find in the order from weakest to strongest without ever harming, hurting or killing a single human, releasing all her undead human followers herself, and once she doesn't know and can't find other demons, killing herself if she haven't died by that point yet. That way, she would have still made Aura kill herself, but she would kill a lot more demons than just her still releasing the undead humans from her control.
16:04 By the way, the Japanese title of this series is “Frieren the Slayer.” WAY more metal than “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” right?!? (Also inferred as “Funeral Frieren” or “ Burial Rites Frieren.” Any of those are sick af)
Honestly, not sure where the shock over frieren telling aura to unalive herself is coming from. Frieren hates demons, and she just onesidely won the the magical scales mana dick measuring contest, so therefore we know she has control of auras will. What follows is entirely in keeping with what we know of Frierens character. And what more fitting end for the prideful demon aura than to end her own life, the same way she forced so many other humans lives to end, not to mention, presumably, elvish and dwarven lives as well. I mean, it’s probably fair to say that these demons have personally sent thousands of souls screaming to the afterlife. Forgive me if I don’t flinch when frieren dismissively commands aura to end it.
You have to understand, Frieren doesn't see Aura as an "opponent". She sees demons as rabid animals. Frieren sees Aura as like a roach that needs to be whacked until dead with its innards spread out across the floor.

Like, the same tier of logic applies to the Demon King’s own generals, if any of them were capable of competing strength-wise, they’d be better off dead than allies, right? Oh, suddenly it _doesn’t_ make sense to kill off manpower? So it’s racially motivated.
So okt of need for survival, humans would eradicate every last one of them, the same way they're trying to eradicate most dangerous races them, like elves, which is the reason why elves are nearly extinct by now
He may not be racist but it do be genocide
pretty much. dude is just pragmatic about it and trying to wipe out the race that could pose the most threath to them in the long run.which backfires quite a bit lmao.then again who knows if the demon king that flame is talking about even the same one that frieren ends up killing.
spoilers for several episodes later:
maybe Kraft killed that one or maybe Kraft killing the previous demon king is why the new one focuses elfes so much
He didn't need to think about that.
His chief advisor was a Demon with future vision magic. He didn't know for sure but he knew enough about the threat from the elves.
He only went down when Humanity got a Hero could counter his power with his own vision.
The man titled Humanity's Strongest took him and 3 sages down in an epic 1 vs 8 battle. He went down knowing he paved the way for next hero to kill the Demon King, Himmel the Hero
And just like with the ‘cool’ explosions she turned around gave the order and walked away never looked back knowing the job was done.
I saw that particular clip before watching the show, and without context I thought that Frieren won simply by pure unwielding and uncorruptible resolve to kill demons. But a crazy big amount of mana is cool too.
"coldest moments I've ever seen in a show"
Don't watch Made in Abyss then.
The way you laughed after Frieren revealed her mana made me want to believe that's how Flamme would laugh from the grave as she watched this moment. That's my headcanon now. 😢😅.RIP fire haired goddess.
I love that. That is also my headcanon now.
Frieren: "Aura end yoself"
Aura: *dies*
ED: "and you alright"
😂
nooooo, she isn't alright...😂
Not so alright lol
Frieren really hit them with the Lowtir “use should kill yourself now!!”
the moment Frieren reveals her true mana reminds me that scene in Overlord when Ainz pulled out his suppressing ring and that young mage girl who can see magic just puked at the sight of his mana
She puked Rainbows no less!
En la película que saldrá hay una escena parecida en la que una arquera/escudera siente un frío que consume la tierra (no puede ver el mana) cuando se quita el anillo, y su enemigo que es un monstruo se congela del miedo.
I just realised After Aura cuts off her head we see her POV as the head rolls away. That's why the world tumbles.
pretty obvious, we can see her body when the pov was spinning
LowTierElf really hit Aura with the "You should kill yourself, NOW!"
reading the manga a few months before the anime came out, it's hard to just put into perspective how that moment was one of the single most satisfying panels i've ever read in my whole life! especially after the flashback with the 'mother' demon killed off all remaining empathy i had for that universe's demons
i dont know if it is explained somewhere or even if it is the case, but by my understanding, Frieren tells Aura to off herself not because it is more brutal or demeaning or anything like that.
Nope, she has no problem of murdering demons. That is just the most humiliating to go for Aura
i know she doesnt have an issue murdering demons, earlier she blew the dudes head with her hands. but maybe she might not want to use magic for killing if and when it is possible @@huntermad5668
Huntermad is right, she usually has Fern or Stark do it because she wants to help them grow which is why she never helps them in their battles
she has zero qualms using magic to absolutely butcher demons, she could’ve killed that demon boy in the earlier episode but opted to cut off both of his arms and start strangling him first before blowing his face off, she absolutely could’ve just instantly decapitated him
LTG Frieren memes that came outta this episode were the best and a crossover I never saw comin lol.
“I thought you were supposed to be the good guys?” To be honest, when you deal with those kind of demons you don’t give any kindness
"When weak appear strong, when strong appear weak." Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
frieren is such a good girl telling aura "you should love yourself more now!" so wholesome
with Alicia's reaction to the big fluffy, i'd imagine she'd love Fluffy Paradise
My girl Frieren doing the Emperor's work. She is the embodiment of "Abhor the Demon"
Clearly Roboute got himself the wrong elf girlfriend
@@windwalker5765 I don't know if i would say "wrong"", maybe Girlyman is into boobs
@@windwalker5765 this
Lol that line was seriously so smart though. Because it means that you can be 100% sure that she's dead. Since if she had any like body double or other magic bullshit she'd have to circumvent it herself.
This is an interpretation that I hadn't seen before, but I do find it fascinating
Aura: "My magic power is superior!!"
Freieren: "And I took that personally."
Frieren really said "I'm a sleepy bean AND a killing machine."
I love how it goes from Aura decapitating herself to "And you alright~". I don't think she's alright
19:33 she's the good guy who kills the evil demon with the mean words.
Y'all should really see the english dub of this scene. Fire!
This is by far the most wholesome, fun anime ive seen in a while...
And that was one of the coldest deliveries of a line and deaths ive seen in a while. Fucking gave me CHILLS
Won of the coldest deaths/executions I've ever seen in an anime. She didn't even bother watching. Absolute savage!
Oh if only you've seen the memes made from this scene. And we manga readers all predicted what would happen if this scene ever got animated, and we were right!😂
Frieren really did pull a LowTierGod bro 💀
Stuff like this is why Flamme told Frieren not to put her name in the history books until the Demon King is defeated, as a another way to fool the demons.
That's why Aura was like ''She only appeared in public records 80 years ago'', as Aura thought Frieren wasn't very old.
She did go out and kill demons until about 500 years ago but it wasn't massacres just demon here of there. She was in seclusion for all of Aura's life and any rumors would be like so and so died the fool
I liked when Frieren went ultra instinct and then became the edgiest gamer possible
"Do you think we would die from merely underestimating someone?"
Lügner, ep 8
I mean, he was right. Because underestimating someone shouldn't matter if you're strong. Only when your opponent is strong. But even then, he somehow didn't think that the strong opponent he noticed would have strong allies.
No, no, no...pffffyeah!
"merely" is an important word there. They didn't lose because they underestimated their opponents, they lost because they were weaker.
Though I doubt this applies to Frieren as she’s an absolute beast
frieren just got a 10 game chat restriction for that line
That's partly it. As she said previously, she didn't want to destroy them because Himmel got upset with her last time for disrespecting the dead.
When you can use power word kill but wanna save on spell-slots, Command word: Auto-die
Frieren is truly LowtierElf
I haven't seen the whole anime/manga yet, but I wonder if the fact that their eyes are exactly the same has a further meaning or just a beautiful coincidence.
my guess is this is why frieren is used to hearing her master beg for her life, bc she uses underhanded tactics to win
She earned her name this night. Didn't even look back. Cold. As. Ice. 🧊
5:37 that whole clip had my sorceress give a standing ovation. :P 'that's the way!' :D
Aura ended up to her neck in trouble in that confrontation, she really should've quit while she was still a-head 😏
Aura got a lethal dose of her own medicine, crazy when big pharma gets a taste.
“Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”
Frieren simply returned the favour
you and Flamme share the eyes and hair with my fave RP character, a high elf sorceress with a penchant for fire and old books. don't question it. :P
That’s not an elf, that’s an EILF
First HER moment I've seen in a while.
I love the massive build up for the biggest no effort punking in the series, its so great and hits so many good beats
I know LowTierGod is straight cheesing right now.
Frieren is a graduate of the 2009 CoD multiplayer lobby school of trash talking.
The whole bit about not making a name for herself was to keep demons from knowing of her power before it’s too late. Once she beat the DK, it won’t matter anymore. Though, after living +1000 years in obscurity, how hard would it be to suddenly be talked about across the entire continent, eh?
I've been waiting for this episode since you started the first one.
And we have not seen yet Alicia OP elf ... sitting there... on the demon throne 😳
You gotta watch that scene dubbed btw
The voice actress is beyond good
This is what caught my eye when I left Frieren anime on the back burner.
i remember watching this ep for first time and it was sick af chills
Take into account that Aura lost so easily, due to her own spell, if she had fought differently, she would have had a chance of winning.
"my parent tach me that spell to me, the spell to make a flower field" flamme said, wich mean its serie
Aura absolutely deserved it. I would argue, even worse.
she just flexed her mana pool and aura kills herself thats basically the plot of this episode 😂
Forgive me if I don’t flinch when frieren dismissively commands aura to end it.
that's a lot of writing.
@@aliciaxlife YOURE ALOT OF WRITING!
I’m sorry. I just really like this story. Can you forgive me, Alicia?
I’m with u alicia I’m dyslexic so if I tried to read that I’d have a stroke next time type shorter we all smooth brains here
From epic to peak with this episode.
Frieren really hit her with the Lelouch Vi Britannia.
I can't see that "Kill yourself." Scene without imagining thunder.
You have to understand, Frieren doesn't see Aura as an "opponent". She sees demons as rabid animals.
Frieren sees Aura as like a roach that needs to be whacked until dead with its innards spread out across the floor.
I'm not really a dub watcher but the end scene was great even in english.
19:10 I keep thinking of the abridged version where she says "Aura, sh*t yourself"
The walk away KO is so savage.
I think I had Frieren in my league game last night.
"Keep Yourself Safe..."

Frieren just hits Aura with the "kys". XD
"Aura, kys"
"And you alright!"
Frieren's basically at max level in NewGame+ tackling a level 50 mid game Boss.
XD
I mean, we all know that Frieren is cold blooded xD
What a great scene. Great Reaction
Pulled a low tier god moment frieren XD
A little off topic, but Golden Kamuy is an amazing anime too, please react to at least the openings and endings for Golden Kamuy!
Frieren really said power word: kill
"Frieren" means "freeze" in German, and in this episode you can see why she'd have that name, because she is *ice cold.*
