I wanna apologise and say I'm really so heart broken by the audio quality of this video! PLEASE watch Geoff original video to hear his amazing voice without whatever aweful audio issues are happing on my computer in this reaction!
A comment on the original video said something along the lines of: Simon and Garfunkel’s version is a warning. Disturbed’s version is righteous anger about what is currently happening. Geoff’s version is grief of what has happened, but also hope for what could be.
Geoff brings to his covers a sensitivity that only a true interpreter of music can bring. He wants to make absolutely sure that he makes us feel every word, and oh my God, he does it so well!❤😢🤧
Is anyone ever ready for Mr. Geoff Castilucci? The fact that this man can not only sing but play the piano is soul shattering. This version is in my top 5. 1. Disturbed 2. Mr.Geoff 3. Pentonics 4. Open 5. The original. You do need to listen to the Pentatonic version.
It's a MASTERPIECE! he has all the talents! He plays the piano or keyboard in 'Shenandoah', 'Till then' and 'High and dry', 'Blackbird' Thank you for the great reaction! Glad you are becoming a Patron!
I'm with you on the Disturbed version, I loved it. And this is a whole other thing. There's something about Geoff that grabs you and shakes you up. The arrangements? The voice? The emotion? Or all of those and the love that oozes out of every pore. I feel it every time. The man is a phenomenon. And gorgeous. Shenandoah is arguably his most beautiful in terms of sound and appearance. I think people need to be requesting Geoff and VP on radio stations to get them heard more.
Geoff puts that EXTRA effort into it with the SMALL touches, his own music too, and in some words he would make it visual. Just those small details make it unique.
I dont know if i could ever declare an outright favorite song, for either Geoff's solos or VoicePlay, but this song is easily one of my top 5 Geoff songs.
Really enjoying seeing your journey into the magic of Geoff's body of work. Can't wait to see your reaction to his cover of Ain't No Sunshine, by Bill Withers.
With talent like theirs it just seems right to support them as much as possible! as my channel grows, if I find myself in a better financial position because my reactions to their videos i will defiantly continue to pay if forward! just seems right!
Original: Hey, is this something we need to worry about? Pentatonix: We can fix this, if we work together! Disturbed: You were warned, and NOW YOU MUST PAY Geoff: I am so, so sorry.
If you’re looking for more mind blowing “this bass shouldn’t be singing in this range” videos I’d give Tim Foust’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” a reaction. But this is beautiful. It made me cry.
Geoffs' work is very emotionally evocative. He's so skilled and so gifted I, too, wonder why he's not all over the place! He's so good! Why are more people not hearing him, you know?
I'm the same... I have mad, mad respect for Disturbed's cover, it will always be near and dear to my heart. It's just that Geoff's cover hits me in the feels in a different way. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it and pick up details that I missed in the dozens of other times I've listened to it lol :) Great reaction, as always
Subscribed because I had the same exact reaction. This is a favorite song and he brought it to the light which was supposed to be in the first place in my opinion
Love your reaction. We're all on different time zones so it's not surprising you didn't get to it as soon as it appeared. It dropped late afternoon here in the UK so I picked it up very soon after it appeared. This is an emotional song anyway and then along came Geoff and kicked the emotions into overdrive. Big bonus of getting a glimpse of him in rock god mode as well - something I'd personally love to see more of!! If you loved seeing him play piano I would recommend hearing his cover of "High and Dry" by Radiohead. I'm not much of a fan of the original but love his version.
I've been waiting to see reactors since this one dropped on Patreon I knew it was going to be amazing. For other songs with him playing piano you should listen to Shenandoah, Blackbird, and High and Dry.
I have rarely found a better video that deserved the word flummoxed. But this one has earned the use of it. I cannot think of another word that truly fits how this song makes me feel with how he sings it. WOW!!!
I WAS in tears the first time I heard this. As to the patreon, in the making of video he pulled out a light and mentioned that they could only get it due to patrons. It's amazing to know you are contributing to letting them do what they do.
I loved this reaction, and how you call him Mr. Geoff. I have been waiting to see peoples' reactions to this one. It is so hauntingly beautiful. My favorite of his other songs where he plays piano is High and Dry. Edit: You're going to love being a VP and Geoff Patron.
Geoff puts that EXTRA effort into it with the SMALL touches, his own music too, and in some words he would make it visual. Just those small details make it unique.
Like you, I never thought anyone would best Disturbs' version of the song. Then Geoff decided to throw his voice into the competition. It really is no contest. Geoff now owns this song.
I remember when it was new by Simon & Garfunkel. Then again, my granddaughter came home from high school and said I needed to hear Disturbed. Now Mr. Castellucci. OMG. He played piano in "Till Then", "Shenandoah", Blackbird, and High and Dry. I am a patron to VP, Geoff, and Patty Cake Productions.
He has two songs that came out around Halloween. Monster Mash, and Ghost Riders in the Sky. Check them out. I'm loving your reactions. You said Geoff should direct movies. He does. 5 minute ones.😁
Being a patreon is totally worth even at the lowest tier. He has made a couple of songs were he plays the piano: Till Then, Blackbird, High and Dry, Shanandoa.
I love your reactions. It reminds me of the first time I discovered the world of Geoff Castellucci and VoicePlay. Geoff is definitely a phenomenon. I don't know why Pentatonix and Home Free are more well known. Both Geoff and VoicePlay are so unique in their music and videos, and they deserve so much more recognition. Geoff will always make a cover his own while respecting the original. You can feel the passion and love he and his wife, Kathy, put into everything they produce. I became a patron of VoicePlay after Hoist the Colours dropped. I believe you will love that. I became a patron after Geoff dropped Ain't No Sunshine, which I think you will love as well. To get a better sense of how masterful of an arranger Geoff is, check out God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. That I'm sure that will blow you away. Looking forward to your next reaction. 🌞
Hey, glad you're going to be joining us Patrons! We will love having you there with us. I was one of the (admittedly few) people who did NOT want a version of Sound of Silence by Mr Castellucci. I have a lot of emotions around the original Simon and Garfunkel version and have never liked any of the cover versions so I was dreading this...I have it on 3 Spotify playlists AND it made me cry the first time I watched it. Can safely say I am happy to eat my words about cover versions of the song...as long as it is Geoff covering it! Hope to catch you on the Voiceplay Discord soon 😉
Geoff always brings out all the feels. His renditions are incredible. Try A'int No Sunshine for a song version that really shouldn't work and yet just kills it.
Oh yeah, he's played piano in his videos before. High and Dry, Shenandoah and Blackbird come to mind off the top of my head, but there's probably more. All really pretty. Oh, and Til Then, that's a bit of a newer one.
Shenandoah is one of my favorite Geoff piano songs. So beautiful 😍 he recorded that for his wife, Kathy. You'll see her in his Till Then video and his Monster Mash video too
Pentatonix also has a cover of this song. And Peter Hollens has a multitrack cover on his channel, where he does the high voices and Tim Foust (the Bass from Home Free) does the low voices. Similar to their cover of the Misty Mountains song that I'd mentioned. The rabbit hole doesn't stop.
So many rabbit holes! This version of Sound of Silence is mind blowing, but I still think Pentatonix’s version just edges out Geoff. But just barely.🤣 What an amazing time to be alive-we get to hear extraordinary versions of this song, AND watch people discover extraordinary versions of this song. 💙
lol, they got another. 😂 I think you’re the fifth or sixth reactor to become a Patreon. Welcome to the club! You need to hear his solo “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Brace for it when he starts walking around. The only thing more impressive than his one note drop to the basement is the way he bounces right back up like it didn’t happen. I much prefer VoicePlay to Pentatonix myself. I get a lot more feels out of VoicePlay. And a lot more laughs when they go silly.
He's an incredible musician, arranger, producer and so much more! Great reaction sir! If you want another rabbit hole of music to explore, it'd be fun to watch you react to 'If Only' by Hiss, Alexinho, Colaps, River' :)
The only words I could find to describe this version were Soul Inspiring. The English language just doesn't have words to adequately this masterpiece. For the record while most of us have our favorite Acapella group, mine is Voiceplay, there seems to be great respect overall to the others Acapella groups and their fans. For me personally I love Voiceplay best but Home Free is awesome and Pentatonix is great. I heard it put this way several times "If the top 3 Acapella groups were in the same school Pentatonix would be the student council, Home Free the kids in the parking lot, and Voiceplay the theater kids."
hahah thats such a great description! please let it not be mistaken, i do LOVE Pentatonix (even if i cant say their name) and have crazy respect for anyone with this kind of talent!!!
I am so enjoying watching your discovery of Geoff and Voiceplay. It wasn't that long ago I discovered them and have loved every minute of it. I am really looking forward to seeing you react to Nothing Else Matters, many of us still haven't recovered from that. See you over on Patreon!
That was one of the things that made me a fan -- the storytelling in his videos. Yes, he probably could direct movies. I joined his Patreon, and shortly after for VoicePlay as well. Welcome to the club! If the camera is static, even if there are multiple cameras, it's usually just Geoff and his wife running things. For this one, Eli did the lighting and Layne from VP was on steadicam. Layne also did the camera work for Way Down and Ain't No Sunshine. These two are on opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, and well worth watching.
Love watching you freak out. I think you need a break, so watch one of the funny ones now. I recommend Way Down but make sure you watch till the credits come up. Hint hint. Then go do Ghost riders. When you become a patron make sure you join us for the live chats he does every month. You will get to see what a great guy he is too.
It is awesome and heart-warming how much love your reactions are getting from Voiceplay and Geoff fans. I subscribed after you dropped your reaction to Voiceplay's Dragonborn and now about 24 hours later this reaction and a doubling of subscriptions. 😁
Loved Simon & Garfunkel's version, giving a warning. Loved Disturbed's version, angry that the warning hasn't been recognized. Loved Pentatonix's version, which was more light and hopeful. And now LOVING Geoff Castellucci's version, which began as a dark place and brought it to the ending with a hope for a future in our broken world.
Your reaction mirrored my initial one exactly. As a patron I've listened to this about 500 times and it still keeps the original impact. He's created something outside the scope of words.
While I'm thinking about it... in case you like S&G material in general, rather than just Sounds of Silence specifically... Voiceplay (in their 2017-2020 lineup) has a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Awesome reaction to an amazingly beautiful song DJ. I love this one as well. I listen to it almost 24/7. I'm already on their Patreons along with Pattycake Productions which is owned by Layne and former member Tony Wakim. They have alot of original videos that are Disney themed. High and Dry showcases Geoff's full range and he plays the piano. No harmonies. Just him solo. Blackbird he also plays piano. Ain't No Sunshine for full range. The Rains of Castemere is awesome from Game of Thrones. Ghost Riders In The Sky. Awesome with 5 of him. Way Down he goes down to a C1. Very entertaining video. Till Then . Piano playing. Voiceplay did a video last week but alot of the patrons didn't care for it. So they went back to the drawing board and version 2 is simply amazing. We'll just say "Geppetto". Patreon got it yesterday. Don't know when UA-cam is getting it though.
Thank you for your lovely comment and your suggestions! I'm now on the Patreon so I think ill film my reaction in advance and upload once they upload to UA-cam (and not a second sooner!)
@@dj_410 Voiceplay are independent. As you read they do everything themselves. Including their own decisions. They will not block for any reason. They love reactors and even encourage people to share their videos. They said they work too hard for them to be blocked and everyone not to be able to watch them. Geoff, Layne and Earl Elkins Jr met in middle school. They, Scott Porter and Mykal Kilmore formed the group in 1997 under the name of 4:2Five. Mykal left for Broadway and Scott left for acting. They had many different members over the years. Geoff taught Layne beatboxing in 2003 when Scott left. Eli (ellee like jelly) joined in 2010 and that's when they changed to Voiceplay. Tony Wakim joined in 2011 and left in 2016 to start Pattycake Productions with Layne and go behind the scenes. Earl left in 2020. J None joined in 2018 and left in 2021 to sing with the US Navy Band. Cesar De La Rosa took his place in 2021. Other great Voiceplay videos... In The Hall of The Mountain King. Hide and Seek (Sing Dong). Nothing Else Matters. In My Room. Hoist The Colours. Their 4 Nightmare Before Christmas videos... Kidnap The Sandy Claws. Oogie Boogie Song. This Is Halloween. What's This?. Road Trip. Chicken Song. (Both live) and hilarious.
@@dj_410 Congratulations on having the good sense to become a patron! Depending on where you which tier you came in on there are some really nice perks. If you are at least a front row patron you do get behind the scenes as well which is always entertaining. I especially appreciate the karaoke tracks because I don’t process music really quickly. It’s an auditory thing. My hearing is fine , I just don’t process fast auditorily. So the karaoke tracks let me concentrate on the background vocals. When I go back and listen to the full song I appreciate the complexity that much more. The first thing I did when I became a patron was search out behind the scenes I’ve almost watched them all now. You may want to consider that the cuts that go out to the patrons aren’t always finished products. The one they’re working on right now went through a major overhaul after they released it to the patrons and got a lot of feedback. And I suspect there will still be some minor tweaks going on. Some reactors have gotten flack for reacting to the Patreon version. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I just want you to be prepared for possible blowback.
I love this song. Its one of my favorites and this version omg, so good. So much emotions and I feel like a train wreck just after hearing this one. Sooo talented Geoff is, geeze. Thank you so much for this hun, keep it up 🥰🥰❤
I was hoping that you would react to this one quickly! I knew it would nearly break you. He has only done one cover with a solo Geoff, and that is High and Dry. You will want to see that for sure. This is the first time he has done a cover without showing the additional Geoffs on screen. He plays the piano in High and Dry, Blackbird, Shenandoah (an American folk song), and Till Then (a WWII era song from the perspective of a soldier hoping his girl waits for him). And, just a warning, Voiceplay has a new one coming shortly!
Cant wait to react to all of these and im so glad you look forward to my videos! im on the patreon now so I will be filming my reaction to their new song ahead of time and uploading shortly after they post their video public! :D
@@dj_410 So nice that you’re on their Patreon! I’m not sure that their video there is the final product, they may still do some more editing. Since Patreon content is exclusive, you won’t be able to upload your reaction in that case.
I'm so glad you felt the need to react to this song as soon as possible. I've listened to this song multiple times already but you've pointed out cool things I overlooked. Thank you for not being afraid to show how the song affects you emotionally. If you're looking for more Geoff and VoicePlay videos to react to, Geoff's "Ghost Riders In The Sky" and "Monster Mash" and VoicePlay's "Oogie Boogie's Song" and "Little Mermaid Medley" are fantastic (as are all of the rest of their videos).
Welcome to VP's and Geoff's patreons! The behind the scenes stuff available to patrons at certain levels are the best perk, and often comedy gold. Geoff doesn't see the point in just covering something the same way that someone else has already done--he always puts his own spin on things. Loving seeing you discover these awesome talents!
The reaction and person you’re reacting to is one thing (glad you’re loving the amazing world of Geoff and voiceplay), but you gained a sub from me for having an MHA poster in the background 😂
What happened to the audio of the "examined" video? I hear it all distorted and fluttering. 🤔🙂 However... I really enjoyed this reaction, just like the previous ones. 🙂 And yes, it touched me deep and moved me in a totally different way than Disturbed's did, or the original, or Pentatonix's. It's sort of more intimate and personal. The MOOD was different, in some subtle way. And I just LOVED it ❤. Now, for the next stuff to reach to... 😁 Geoff: - High and Dry, Ain't no sunshine, 'Till then Voiceplay: - Nothing else matters, My mother told me, In my room The Bass Gang: - Mad world, Emperor's new clothes, Centuries Home Free: - Man of constant sorrow, Brothers in arms, Ring of fire See you next time! 🙂🙂
Put Blackbird (Beatles cover) on, I'm sure, fast-growing list of Geoff songs to react to, you won't be disappointed. And as said already in the other comments, it is him and his piano, and that fantastic voice doing a extra-ordinary unique rendition to a beautiful song.
Your reaction put perfectly into words what I have felt since it got released this morning. Just a hint for you. If you can catch his premieres and well as VP's, they are always in the comment section to chat with everyone and give a little background into the song and video. Great reaction!!! Loved it!
You should react to Tim Foust and Peter Hollins doing Sound of Silence. It wasn't bad, but I will admit that when Geoff came out with his version I thought 'yes, this is what I was wanting.' But it is a good take on this song.
i just want to point out, i WAS a boy soprano... then puberty happened, and "surprise, i'm a bass"... no, nowhere near geoff (or tim) levels... but as a bass, i CAN do the beegees because apparently while my comfort-zone is in the basement, i still have full access to the attic...
Awesome reaction, once again, and it would be great if you would join the VP and Geoff Patreons. I stumbled across VP last year about this time, and within two weeks I was a patron of VP, Geoff and PattyCake Productions. I was never, ever tempted to join Patreon before that time, but the sheer talent of these guys just blew me away and continues to astound me. I really hate when anyone tries to pit any of the acapella groups against each other as in 'who did the song best?', etc. But, I have to say that VP continues to be my favorite, though that doesn't mean that the other groups aren't also great. I love their talent, their theatricality and their humor, and their music just feeds my soul in a way that no one else seems to match.
Great news i am now on their Patreon! :D and yeah all of these groups are amazing in their own way! Dance of the sugar plumb fairy by Pentatonix is still one of the greatest things ive ever heard!! i only meant to say that VoicePlay is as amazing and i cant wait to hear more!!!
This cover brought me to tears, it is literally so powerful and it left me speechless. I have been listening to it so much since it came out today and I will definitely continue to do that for the rest of the year because it is a masterpiece. Thanks for the amazing reaction friend❤
@@dj_410 You’re welcome! I am happy to support you because you are just such a genuine person and it shows in your reactions. So thank you so much for that❤️
I loved your reaction to this. I'm so glad to see so many others, you included, get emotionally moved by this piece. I absolutely adore Disturbed's version of this but it seems to me Geoff is singing a totally different song. I really really want to see you react to Voice Plays version of I Can't Make You Love Me and/or I Can't Help Falling In Love. I think you will love them. ❤️ Welcome to Patreon. Voice Play is the first artist I ever supported on there. I only support 4 total.
Suggested next songs: Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow (the usual entry point for them) The Bass Gang - Mad World ft. Elliott Robinson (a good entry point for them, the first cut on May The Bass Be With You vol 2)
Loved the reaction - I could tell the cover moved you quite a bit, and I'm right there with you. I personally loved Disturbed's and Colm McGuinness' version, but I've never been able to listen to either more than once in any given day. Though I find the music amazing, it makes me feel distressed as well - Hard to explain, but it's how a lot of music affects me. It makes me feel as though I can't breathe while I'm listening to it. Geoff's version is the first one I have been able to listen to where I feel uplifted rather than distressed by the end. There's a freedom and power in his voice or his arrangements that makes me feel like I can take a deep breath and know that things will be alright. I am excited to see you react to so many songs in his and VoicePlay's catalogue. Shenandoah and High & Dry are two of my personal favorites of Geoff's, but honestly this one became a favorite immediately as well. Since you mentioned Geoff and directing - You should watch VoicePlay's "Trapped", "Panic! In 4 minutes" (part 1 & 2) and "Queen in 5 minutes". Geoff directed and arranged "Trapped" and I definitely agree he is *amazing* at cinematography! Plus, the arrangements of all three are great. "Panic!" is done by Layne and Queen (mainly) by Eli, so it's like an insight into each of their techniques. Again, enjoyed the reaction a lot! The praise and admiration you have for Geoff and VoicePlay is so nice to watch, it's plain that you love music very deeply :) If you happen to join the VoicePlay discord too, do say hello and let us know you're there (if you're okay with it)! We've got a couple of fellow reactors present and a few of us link new reaction & analysis videos whenever new ones pop up!
Music has a way to speak to our soul and effect us in ways that are hard to put into words! i totally understand you! OMG i didnt know there was a Panic! one!!!! love them!!! added to the list!!!!! Thanks so much for your lovely comment!!! :D
@@dj_410 Beautifully said! Hoped you might be interested in that one! I'll tell you a bit of info so that you can decide for yourself how you want to experience it: "Trapped", "Panic!" and "Queen" have a *sort of* continuity to them. Trapped leads into Panic! which then can be interpreted as leading into Queen. In terms of when they were uploaded / made, it's Panic-Queen-Trapped. I'm very much looking forward to your reactions!
This is such a beautiful piece of music. I kinda missed the other Castellucci Quints the first time I watched the video. But it's okay, they're still there singing backup and letting him have the stage to himself for this one ☺ Lovely reaction, and it's great to see you in the Discord!
I wanna apologise and say I'm really so heart broken by the audio quality of this video! PLEASE watch Geoff original video to hear his amazing voice without whatever aweful audio issues are happing on my computer in this reaction!
No worries, these things happen. We here for your reaction, not the original which any "Mr Geoff" fan will have watched it several time already 😂
You are only human...it can happen to anyone. I for sure enjoyed your reactions. Just keep breathing, have fun, take care and stay safe 😉
Dj my friend, it happens and we and I love your reactions
It sounds like the song's playing through your speakers instead of your headphones
A comment on the original video said something along the lines of:
Simon and Garfunkel’s version is a warning.
Disturbed’s version is righteous anger about what is currently happening.
Geoff’s version is grief of what has happened, but also hope for what could be.
Geoff brings to his covers a sensitivity that only a true interpreter of music can bring. He wants to make absolutely sure that he makes us feel every word, and oh my God, he does it so well!❤😢🤧
Mr. Geoff specializes in making things his very own. It's super magical. And welcome to their Patreons!
When you hear “on the subway walls”…you hear the highest and lowest octaves in his range (backing vocals) what a treat…SUPERB!! 🥹😍
Is anyone ever ready for Mr. Geoff Castilucci? The fact that this man can not only sing but play the piano is soul shattering. This version is in my top 5.
1. Disturbed
2. Mr.Geoff
3. Pentonics
4. Open
Thank you for your lovely comment! im so glad you enjoyed it! adding all those songs to my list for future reactions!
Also High and Dry is the only other video I have seen by Geoff Castellucci that has only 1 of him on the screen
Geoff and Tim Faust both have 5+ octave ranges. They both love surprising us with what they can do.
I'm with you on the Disturbed version, I loved it. And this is a whole other thing. There's something about Geoff that grabs you and shakes you up. The arrangements? The voice? The emotion? @@dj_410 thank you so much for another priceless reaction to Geoff. Please save your first time reactions for us. We love to see your excitement.
I was in my local Walmart and a couple of times VoicePlay has been in the piped in music. There is a fan there.
Every wish you were here in Jeff’s videos are all him
I understand strange memory reactions. There is a perfume that apparently smells nice, but every time I smell it, I'm reminded of dirty nappies
Agree on all counts.
Really enjoying seeing your journey into the magic of Geoff's body of work. Can't wait to see your reaction to his cover of Ain't No Sunshine, by Bill Withers.

Geoff doesn't hum. He purrs.
Original: Hey, is this something we need to worry about?
Pentatonix: We can fix this, if we work together!
Disturbed: You were warned, and NOW YOU MUST PAY
Geoff: I am so, so sorry.
If you’re looking for more mind blowing “this bass shouldn’t be singing in this range” videos I’d give Tim Foust’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” a reaction. But this is beautiful. It made me cry.
I never get tired of watching people discover Geoff and VoicePlay. It has seriously become a sort of hobby for me.
now you must hear his cover of high and dry by Radiohead
Geoffs' work is very emotionally evocative. He's so skilled and so gifted I, too, wonder why he's not all over the place! He's so good! Why are more people not hearing him, you know?
I cried when I saw this. It hit every emotion possible. This is by far my favorite version.
I honestly think if I wasn't pausing all the time I would have been crying so much hahaha
I'm sure you would have. I loved that I saw the emotion all over your face. New subscriber here most definitely

THE HAIR BOB, from the emotion I love u DJ
imagine if he had the other 4 Geoffs with him dancing to this. It would make it 100 times better. I can just picture that.

Geoff on piano: Til Then, Blackbird, Shenandoah, High and Dry,
all are now on my list :D thanks for the great suggestions!

The group you are talking of is Pentatonix - they have managers... VP does not. They do nearly EVERYTHING on their own. That's also a thing I adore.

All are amazing versions in their own way and feel like 3 perspectives of the same story :)
He plays piano in high and try as well. Check it out. Great reaction ❤
He has two songs that came out around Halloween. Monster Mash, and Ghost Riders in the Sky. Check them out. I'm loving your reactions. You said Geoff should direct movies. He does. 5 minute ones.😁
Welcome to the VoicePlay and Geoff Castellucci Patreon!😊
High and Dry. Blackbird. These both have him play piano. And apparently Shenandoah and Till Then.
Being a patreon is totally worth even at the lowest tier.
He has made a couple of songs were he plays the piano: Till Then, Blackbird, High and Dry, Shanandoa.
Oh...you have not seen the VP oogie boogie man then...
Geoff/VP is my current obsession but I am a complete n00b 😅
no i havent yet! its on my list tho cause i love Nightmare Before Christmas!
Subbing for more Geoff...and eventually VoicePlay (to hit the Acapella part).....and Home Free....LOL
Just posted my 1st Home Free and Halo by VP is coming tomorrow
“Raw and exposed “. You summed it up perfectly. So somber. The spareness of the set adds to the feeling of despair.
So perfectly performed for the subject matter of the song! he is a true artist!
You'll see her in his Till Then video and his Monster Mash video too
Cant wait to react to all these!!! so beautiful that he did one for his wife!!
I love how his other harmonizing voices that come in drop out so only one sings “That voices never shared,” and then they come back.
Pentatonix also has a cover of this song.
And Peter Hollens has a multitrack cover on his channel, where he does the high voices and Tim Foust (the Bass from Home Free) does the low voices. Similar to their cover of the Misty Mountains song that I'd mentioned.
The rabbit hole doesn't stop.
so happy to be going down it! i feel like i could make reactions for the rest of my life on Geoff and Voice Play alone! and i hope i get to! haha
Voiceplay is very unique. They are not afraid of taking risks .
and it pays off so well!!!
lol, they got another.
Disturbed studio version is my favourite 🙂
He's an incredible musician, arranger, producer and so much more! Great reaction sir!
If you want another rabbit hole of music to explore, it'd be fun to watch you react to 'If Only' by Hiss, Alexinho, Colaps, River' :)
Always looking for new things to react to so thank you so much for these suggestions! They are definitely on my list now :)
This is on par with the Disturbed version for me. It's totally different, but just as excellent.
This is emotional for me too, it’s so beautiful! The lyrics get a new meaning for me with this version.
You should check out his High and Dry song
I am so enjoying watching your discovery of Geoff and Voiceplay. It wasn't that long ago I discovered them and have loved every minute of it.
I am really looking forward to seeing you react to Nothing Else Matters, many of us still haven't recovered from that.
See you over on Patreon!
yess!! this one is HIGH on my list and i cant wait!!!
These two are on opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, and well worth watching.
i really cant wait to react to more upbeat and happy Geoff and VP stuff like their Disney and Boyband ones!!
Another a capella Group who sing this very well is Pentatonix, take a listen sometime!!
Thats a perfect way to put it! Where words fail, music speaks and his voice really speaks to me
While I'm thinking about it... in case you like S&G material in general, rather than just Sounds of Silence specifically...

Voiceplay are independent.
Loved your reaction.
Thank you! ❤
Thank you so much for watching and your comment!
You should watch home free man of constant sorrow or ring of fire covers Tim Foust is the bass
Complete the trio and react to Pentatonix's version of this as well.
I feel like talent is just no longer a strong enough word for Geoff ahahahaha cant wait to see more!
Try out Ain't no Sunshine by Geoff.
Voiceplays Nothing Else Matters and Oogie Boogie Man will also impress
Both will be coming super soon as they are high on my list!!
The reaction and person you’re reacting to is one thing (glad you’re loving the amazing world of Geoff and voiceplay), but you gained a sub from me for having an MHA poster in the background 😂
heeellll yeah! I wish I could comment pictures to show you the other poster and the Pops hahaha
I have a request. Check out Geoff's version of Ain't No Sunshine. That's my favorite.
What happened to the audio of the "examined" video? I hear it all distorted and fluttering. 🤔🙂
However... I really enjoyed this reaction, just like the previous ones. 🙂
And yes, it touched me deep and moved me in a totally different way than Disturbed's did, or the original, or Pentatonix's. It's sort of more intimate and personal. The MOOD was different, in some subtle way. And I just LOVED it ❤.
Now, for the next stuff to reach to... 😁
Geoff:
- High and Dry, Ain't no sunshine, 'Till then
Voiceplay:
- Nothing else matters, My mother told me, In my room
The Bass Gang:
- Mad world, Emperor's new clothes, Centuries
Home Free:
- Man of constant sorrow, Brothers in arms, Ring of fire
See you next time! 🙂🙂
Thank you again for an awesome and nerdy/emotional (and very visible) reaction. Looking forward to your next Geoff and Voiceplay reactions!
Loved it!
Oh awesome! would love to just show them some love and let them know how they blow me away!
thank you for your lovely comment :D
high and dry by geoff also shows his high voice, is a very good cover, definitely one of my favorites from him
It is defiantly one that is mentioned alot and is on my list for a future reaction!
You do know that Pentatonix did this song also, don’t you? It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I love theirs, Disturbed’s, and Geoff’s.
You would appreciate the Pentatonix version of this song
I'm 100% with you and i know im going to be listening to this nonstop! Thanks for your continued support and im so glad you are enjoying my videos :)
Suggested next songs:
Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow (the usual entry point for them)
The Bass Gang - Mad World ft.
Great reviews. I do suggest some other fun things - Oogie Boogie song - don't wait until Halloween.. its amazing!
New subscriber here, great reaction and looking forward to seeing more of your content.
Thanks so much for the sub! Loads more Geoff and VoicePlay coming soon!
Listen to "Hall of the Mountain King!
This is such a beautiful piece of music. I kinda missed the other Castellucci Quints the first time I watched the video. But it's okay, they're still there singing backup and letting him have the stage to himself for this one ☺ Lovely reaction, and it's great to see you in the Discord!
Yeah and I feel like having him alone really drove home the emotion of it!
Thanks for your lovely comment :D
@@dj_410 I agree. I think having multiple Geoff's showing on this would have broken the spell he was weaving.
