Yesterday, I was fortunate to visit a Community Center in Sakai-Higashi, Osaka.
Every Wednesdays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm, many Deaf and Deaf-Blind Japanese people meet together, share information, and catch-up with each other.
It's great to see that there is a community center where people can come together and be a part of their community.
There's something about meeting people face to face, joking and laughing with them.
Even though the average age was about 65-70 years old, everyone was so Genki and high spirited!
It was such a great experience.

Danny, these people are so lively, entertaining and lovely! Homae-san won my heart over. I wish I can meet them personally and learn their sign language.
Rebecca Tillero yes Homae-san was a joy to talk with as well as the gentleman. I’m so glad you enjoyed watching the video. Thank you for your support!
@@DeafJapanTV it's great good l like learn sign language from japanese sign language
I'm American and hearing. This video brings back nice memories of a train ride I took while living in Japan during college. I had gotten used to being quieter and less "excited" when I talked while living in Japan, especially on a train. Then one day I heard giggling and the sounds of hands slapping and general jolly noises from the other end of the train car. It was a group of deaf Japanese young people laughing and signing. They seemed like the happiest people in all of Japan, oblivious to the "silence," ironically.
Hahaha, Yeah that brings back memories. I am a Coda, so I totally remember signing with my Deaf Japanese friends on the train and laughing, while all the other passengers are so quiet. I apologies to all the people we disturbed.
+DeafJapan TV Cute. The experience reminded me to be myself and enjoy life!
Yes definitely!
I really wanted the conversations to keep going .... They were so lovely and engaging. I would love to know about the differently abled communities in Japan.
Deaf Japanese sign language is so beautiful and unique. May God bless them. I'm hearing and am fluent in American Sign Language.
Oh my gosh, that was so cute how she made him blush at the end! I could watch these stories all day. I love well lived people.
Schönen Dank für diesen Film.
It's very interesting to hear old deaf Japanese people explained their view and experience before and after WW II.
+Scott Sheldon Yeah, always good to listen to people who have been living a long time. Many things to learn from their wisdom and stories.
Thank you so much for the sharing!!! Very rich experience in world war II.
Danny, thank you so much for interpreting for us in ASL what they were saying
They look like they are good people, that is my impression.
Continue posting video the way you already are. Awesome conversation to understand their point of view.

@@DeafJapanTV You're welcome. There's nothing else like this on UA-cam. As someone who really enjoys languages, this is one of the best things I've clicked on, on UA-cam.
Erin Moore I was lucky to meet these 2 wonderful people!
@@DeafJapanTV I don't know if you're still in Japan but nonetheless, I'd love to see videos of comparing Japanese deaf culture to US deaf culture. Are there differences?
I have moved to Hawaii, but I will try to make more videos about the difference / similarities between Japanese and U.S. Deaf culture. Was there a topic you wanted me to talk about?
Very good…want see more war time experiences or deaf old school stories…thank you! I read and see you are Danny, a Coda, living now in Hawaii. Do you work with the Deaf? If you feel comfortable, could you tell us more about yourself? Are your parents still alive?

Hello
я очень рада Япония Глухих.
admire nice sign japan :) @deafjapan
I hope Sakako is in good health and does very well. I think she's 97 now. I'd give her lots of old granny cookies if she manages to be 100 years old. Dang, I am 49 years old that's half of her age ,but I hope I will able to live till 100 as well as long as I am in good health. 😍
Kagemusha70 yes I hope she is doing well also. Life can be very short or very long. Take care of everyone, be good to your family and take care of your health.
did I understand that little lady is 100?? her sign is so lovely
+S.I. Rosenbaum haha, I don't think she is 100 years old. She said she is 91 years old.
Awesome language in sign languages! ❤️👍🙏🏻
