- Hi my lovely Flip Family!
For today’s Furniture Flip, I thrifted an old display hutch top! I loved the look of the glass on this piece and knew I could give it a new life while keeping the beauty of it! Here is what I did!

Lots of home improvement books used to show you how to trash old furniture in the name of modernization, the finished results often looked worse than the original piece, but your work here is pretty nice. You did a wonderful job giving new life to an old piece and I hope that it gives you happiness for years to come!
It’s beautiful! You did an awesome job!
Awe thanks so much!
Giving furniture a second life is great, but making it look better than the original is even better.
Amazing that you have such a vision when you see a piece that needs some love!
This is so sweet thank you! Have you ever done a furniture flip before?
Really nice. Personally I think it's absolutely fine to paint this.
I love it ❤❤
Thanks so much me too!
Love it, thanks for sharing your talent with us all💋🤓
This is so sweet thank you!
Gorgeous! I wish I could be half as creative as you!! ❤
You totally could! We all have to start somewhere!
Oh my gosh … I am in love! You did a fantastic job!! I really like your tutorials, you have a way of making the viewer think, yes, I can!! Thank you!!❤
Love this piece! You did an excellent job! I think you should paint the base too so it doesn't look like you added a base. Love your videos! ❤❤❤
I kinda like the contrast! But it could also totally work with a painted base too!
Truly talented! Love it.
You're too kind! Have you ever done a furniture flip before?
@@theflippedpiece No I haven’t just don’t seem to have time so for now I love watching your flips. Keep them coming 😊.
Absolutely love this!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful! I love the interior color and the contrast. I’m not usually a fan of painted and natural wood together but this is gorgeous! Nice job! ❤
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you like it!

I totally agree!
❤❤❤ loved it ,the color is magnificent
Thank you!!! I love the color too
I think using some glass paint to make the doors look like antique stained glass would of been pretty as well 😊
Gorgeous
Awe thank you!
That is beautiful
Beautiful! I love the repurposing! ❤
Awe thanks Cathy! Have you ever done a furniture flip before?
@theflippedpiece I have, but never as in-depth as yours are.
Really pretty. Wish I had your expertise
Beautiful 👍❤️
Thank you! Have you ever done a furniture flip before?
You did a nice job but I don’t understand why you didn’t use really good wood for the top instead of MDF? And also why not finish the new base with paint or stain so it looks like part of the original piece or at least matching the set?
The original wood color was so gorgeous. Was there any way you could've stained it and had it all looking uniform, or would the mismatched wood you used for the repairs have always shown through?
👍❤️
Bravo, 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Awe thanks!
Great work!
❤
The colour is a bit too greyish for me though.
That's totally fair! What color would you have gone for instead?
@@theflippedpiece
Either sth. pastelly (mint, babyblue, corn-yellow..) or a nice natural light wood tone (like golden honey or sth.)
Lovely. I was just wondering why you didn't sand down the top versus using an MDF?? How does the top look?
....please use a dust mask when dealing with MDF. It is dangerous stuff.
Such a beautiful wood piece, shame it was painted 😢
It was part of something bigger. She repurposed it rather than chuck it in landfill.
I agree. There was definitely some damage on this piece. I think her top and the addition of a base gave this piece new life. The display case now has a more contemporary look that still reflects its original style. Beautifully done and styled. I loved the completed piece and agree it shouldn't have been chucked in a landfill.

But it would not have to be painted not to end in landfill.
Colour has nothing to do with it, has it?
This “wood” shaming obsession is obnoxious. If the item does not fit into someone’s decor then as the owners of the piece they can do what they please with it. better it’s painted then end up in a dump because that’s likely what would have happened to it
In all honestly I’m sick of seeing these types of comments on furniture up cycling pages. Who do you know who has this type of original wood furniture in their homes besides grand parents. No one wants original wood anymore. I’d much rather something sturdy and well made in a colour that suits my home then buying cheap nasty flat pack furniture that doesn’t even last a few years.
It was painful to watch
...I was sad...watching her removing the Crown moulding....it made the piece look much better than what she used to replace it. People do this, ratger than just using whats there....and of course, you can tell it is NOT the Original trim. And the 2 different colours ,makes it LOOK like a puece " just fashioned together ". ...NO CONTINUITY.
The coloyr actually loojs " drab " for this piece, and it needed something to help it " be pretty " ...not a " Grey- ish " colour. ..but she did it in a colour that most likely suits her Decor ...but it looks d r ab.
I have re- done furniture for decades, ..its not about her " painting it "... it is about the Trim removal and the Colour of the finish. I painted- and still do - ALL kinds of Wood, ...because I DONT LIKE certain colours of Wood and it will chsnge the look and feel, painting it in a colour that suits the piece.
