I've been making handmade cards foe 25 years or so and only started sewing last year. I made a bunch of burlap Christmas trees, you know simple triangles and was hooked. Now this. Oh my. Christmas cards this year are going to take on a whole new twist. Such a joy to add something new to one's repetoire. Thank you so much. You are never to old to learn something new.
I completely agree with you! Even though it might not come as quickly or as easily to us as it used to, it’s definitely a pleasure and an adventure to keep on learning, regardless of what age we are! I’m so pleased you’ve discovered the world of sewing and it’s given you new inspiration for your card making, too! Have fun 🙋♀️🪡🧵
I love these ideas! I love the idea of incorporating Christmas fabric scraps into cards and then embellishing. What a very fun idea. I think I need to try every variation.
Ooh I hope you do! It’s such fun creating these from those tiny scraps that are so often thrown out.. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you’ll enjoy some card making! 🙋♀️
Such beautiful postcards! And of course this could be adapted to any festive occasion. I’m always in awe at the perfection with which you do things! They could be on display in a window shop 👏🏻👏🏻♥️❤️💚♥️❤️💚♥️❤️💚♥️❤️💚
Thank you so much! Those are wonderful comments - I’m always more grateful than you know for your uplifting and empowering words! Sending much live ❤️❤️❤️🪡🧵❤️❤️❤️🙋♀️
Another way would be to iron your squares onto interfacing and stitch to that then you can glue it onto the card no stitches showing, it’s a lovely idea and the cards look great ❤
Great tip! Thank you so much for sharing that 😍 I would probably still stitch a border around the edge onto the card as a ‘frame’ and to secure all the threads if you stitch the grid right through to the end of the lines. I’ll definitely give the interfacing a go, though! Thanks again 🙏❤️
Thank you for sending me the link to your video through Instagram. I love the ornaments and the way you finished them with the marker. I am a card maker and quilter ( that has lapsed somewhat) and have so much fabric. I plan to try the cards probably after Christmas. I make tons of cards for different organizations so am busy with those. I take a break after Christmas and try new things after I straighten up my perpetually messy craft room. So will have your video ready to help me try and recreate your lovely ornaments. Again, thank you for the like on my one and only post!
Love those little fabric squares. I think I would lay the fabrics on one card, then transfer them over to another card when gluing down - I'm sure I would knock them about otherwise haha.
I am so excited to do this! I was a rubber stamp card maker for years, but adding the sewing technique will bring them to a whole new level! Thank you’❤
Thank you so much for sharing that! Yes, I did try covering the back, but I didn’t want to risk the card + fabric + envelope becoming too thick with another layer added to it due to maximum dimensions allowed for a standard letter format here in the UK. Sending a ‘large letter’ instead is so much more expensive, unfortunately! The idea itself is great, though! Thank you! 🙋♀️
Such a great idea !!! I love this ! One question, did you use rotary cutter to get such perfect little squares? Thanks so much, I will definitely be trying this !!!! 🎄❤️
Yes I did - and a really (!) long quilting ruler, using the grid on my cutting mat as reference. I first cut lots of 3/4" strips and then lined them all up with multiple layers on top of each other to cut them into squares. That made fairly quick work of it.. So pleased you enjoyed this and will give it a try - have fun! 😍🙋♀️
It’s faux gold leaf - I’ve actually got a video on the process of how to apply it: ua-cam.com/video/QxZMNklGXNg/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared I hope that helps! 🙋♀️

Beim Ansehen des Videos bekomm ich Lust auf Advent 🕯😍
This is such a great idea! I've adapted it by ironing the squares onto interfacing and then sewing onto the card.
Oooh, brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing that idea! Very helpful 👍😍

make some of these. 😊

To hide the stitches on the inside just cut another piece of card stock or water color paper to size and glue it on.

You could use vellum or even a complimentary colored paper sheet?
