Your enthusiasm was infectious. 1000 kg is amazing in a world where a many an EV can exceed twice that. Porsche have always build amazing cars. This one was no different. Thanks Peter.
it tells something about Porsche to see almost every time drivers who have never experienced this before got emotional. I just did a 1000 Mhl trip to the UK with my 84 stock car and it 'is' a great car to drive for your free time holidays ore just after a stress day at work . Nice to see your enthusiasm and thanks for the movie !
A 2.7RS is top 5 best Porsche ever made, fact. Hence their price tag of an original, but this is a recreation which has been done very well. Congrats to the owner and thanks to you for the respectful & lovely review.
Writing Christmas cards can be a little tiring but not when the initial soundtrack of this video kicking in...just finished all my cards and had to go back to start of this video....have had a Petrolicious and Porsche evening. Great video Merry Christmas 2023.
A proper driver's car. And good Lord, what a sound. EVs may be the future but nothing beats a normally aspirated internal combustion Porsche motor. That was something to savour. Thanks Pedro. I'll be sharing this with my crazy 911 buddies.
I’ve just completed a 2,214 miles road trip in one down to south of France (Calais to Saint Tropez, St Raphael) and back to the uk in a 993, arrived one day ago. Strictly secondary roads. Truly sublime experience, one to do in one’s lifetime. Once beyond 4K rpm all hell breaks loose 😎🙏🏿
This Porsche 2.7 RS is truly special, that engine sound is what made me a Porsche-file, I am absolutely blown away by this car.. thanks Pete for sharing.
Great video Pete. Your enthusiasm is second to none. The Porsche has a proper old skool sound, and who needs a radio when you have that soundtrack behind you 👍
Pete, firstly I will say this, your genuine passion and dare I say it lust for cars is why people gravitate to your channel... your smile in that first segment where you are changing gears show that without question... 👍🏻 Now the RS.... I'll ignore the colour (I'm not a fan of red - or tangerine 🙄 - cars) and I'm with you on the duck tail..... it's classic 911 through and through... and that noise... OMG 😍 I admire your neighbour for selling, if must be a tough decision but cars like this are meant to be driven... a lot of classic owners miss that point, get out there and enjoy them 🙂 Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Absolutely fantastic video thoroughly enjoyed it very interesting about the suspension and how compliant it is with UK roads hope you’re doing well and keeping well
@@PetrolPed If there is any way you could swing the money to buy it you should. Am 68 now and when I think back about some of the cars I could/should have stretched myself to buy a few years ago….most are now worth a lot of money. No better way to enjoy your hard earned than a beautiful car that is only going to increase significantly in value 👍 Almost forget to say it would provide some great content for the channel too, you could do some fantastic road trips in it with your lovely wife !
What an incredible classic car, with a Rennsport conversion,it was so infectious,I would love to own a beautiful classic car,so appreciate your input, thanks so much,I still have an affinity with the old cars, the review and description was fantastic 😀
Love, love, love, a really nice homage to the original 2.7RS. Are you on a commission ha ha Your enthusiasm is infectious. I keep looking at 911s in the adds, maybe one day.
Afternoon PP Great video as alway. Thing sounds like a Porsche as I’ve always felt modern Porsche’s don’t sound like the Porsche I grew up with in the 80s as they had that distinctive engine note. You only have to remember any episode of Miami Vice or the infamous film Against all odds car chase between the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 328 and you can say yip that’s a Porsche 911. When I was 13 my parents neighbour had a 2.7 911 with the ducktail and his wife had a triumph stag v8 they had them out every weekend as I remember looking cool and sounding awesome. Now very rarely do you see these cars but with restomods and companies like Rennsport you see these classic coming back.
@@rogerallison5468I tested a nearly new 911 (992) GTS. I found it too large, too heavy, too powerful, too fast for me and my regular drives. Bought a 996 instead. Much better suited to English rural A roads and B roads. East Kent has lots of regions where there are really fun driving and riding experiences.
If you enjoyed driving this, you should try driving one with the freer revving 2.7RS engine. It's character on another level, especially in the final howling 1000rpm it extends beyond the 3.2.
Now that takes me right back to my youth , such a great sound and boy they used to move , not much back then would get close to you . 😊 in some ways so much more driver focused than today , you are more involved behind the wheel , no time for thinking about anything else 😊, nice one Peter and Jeremy , make sure whoever gets it promises to use it not just look at it !
Could see you in one of these or a carrera sport coupe with the tea tray whale tail - we had an 88 model year car with the g50 box. My dad and I both loved it, had the most comfy sports seats. Dark blue leather with white piping - we can both remember the stunning smell of the interior, smelt the same 20 years later when we sold it. The sound of the 3.2 - like a singer sewing machine.
OMG that took me back! It's no surprise that they go for totally silly prices now, whether "original" or "worked on". The purest of pure driving experiences. Something for your next motoring trivial pursuit: The handling changes from oversteer to understeer depending on your fuel. Possibly the best car to learn to drive hard/fast in. As you say, that tail is just waiting to lead you into the fields. It teaches you to drive your way right through the scene of the accident. Translation - never let up in a bend. Wonderful. Thanks for a great video.
Fantastic video what a car!! I recognise that hill climb I drove up it a few weeks ago in my MX5 NC Launch edition it’s a perfect place to drive a car in the Hampshire Hills. Keep up the good work mate.
Great video, and very nice car. Let hope Governments around the world do not stop us having and driving cars like this. If you were ever having a bad day, go for a drive in a great classic car.
The standard 3.2 Carrera with a G50 is a lovely car to drive. Obviously, this is lighter and more power. 😎 air cooled need to be driven, not locked away investments.
That sounds delicious!! It’s a shame you can’t have it Ped. Not often you see a car review where you can see the driver is genuinely in love with the vehicle. Classic example of dangling the carrot in front of the donkey.
That's a great looking thing Pete. I get it, I must admit I do also look envious at older M cars when I detail them (now I own a newer variant). Would be great as a weekender (not a daily.... like the creature comforts too much now) ... just need the money & the storage facilities first 🤦♂️.... 👍🏻
Hi Ped Wow this video took me back some 15 yrs, when I drove a Porsche fir the first time. A 2.7RS property of a ver good friend who invited me to a track day👍 Driving to the venue, 50 odd miles, chance to acclimatise. My apprehension was short lived, the car was so responsive, steering appeared light, but once used to it, very accurate and inspired confidence. A truly analogue experience which was fantastic, and on track mind blowing. I had to wait over 10 yrs to buy my first Porsche, only regret it was not an R/S.😥
A truly special looking and sounding car. Your enthusiasm in the film is great. I'm not a Porsche guy so I struggle with the whole resto mod to look like something it isn't. Why bother? It's great as an improved 80's 3.2 it isn't and will never be a 70's 2.7 RS.
The real thing is too valuable to drive and risk damaging. I agree that perhaps they should not call it a 2.7RS but something else. And maybe not use the badges. Regardless, the result was clearly a well sorted classic styled 911 that can be enjoyed on the road. There are few companies like Ruff who have the status to build their own and have it go beyond factory values. Also modifying the less desirable models raises their prices and makes them harder to find. Take the Ferrari 330 models for example.
Another amazing video!! Pete, you are one lucky blighter! Watching that made me contemplate selling the house.. Not sure how well that would go down at home.
Just watched this - great video. You said you would love to drive a recent Rennsport. I have a Rennsport ST 3.4 with active suspension and throttle bodies. Based in Worcestershire. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely bloody love that! And I’m not a huge fan of Porsche styling normally. I think it’s because as you say it is friendly and it’s the right colour. Go on… you know you want to 😈
One advantage of light weight is that a car doesn't have to be stiffly sprung to have tight handling. That Rennsport Carrera would have been faster than a Ferrari Daytona at anything other than a top speed run and would still have been a super car in the 1980s. I'd love to have one where I live, in Colorado with canyon roads everywhere. And one issue with modern Porsches, including my 2010 Boxster is that the gearing is too long. That is probably in service to the fuel mileage tests. Second gear goes to past 80 miles per hour and 3rd is good to well past 100. So, you can't really work the car in the gears on a public road without getting to ridiculous speeds. In fact, I have found that you don't get past 4th gear on any race track that doesn't have a really long straight. In terms of enthusiast driving, 5th and 6th gear are mainly for decoration
Classic story! Having owned a couple of original Carrera RS's (964 & 993) and probably most of these types of high performance car, is you have to be in the mood to drive them.
