Well as a bikefitter from down under, we find too many people seating too far forward, saddles too high and handlebars too low. Yes shorter cranks are the future and widening the handlebars for better bike handling and comfort.
Hi phil I am a purchaser of your authored book and a subscriber to your UA-cam channel. I have some questions 1. Due to the different body proportions of Caucasians and Asians, should Asians always have a lower and more rearward-positioned saddle? 2. There's an emphasis on using the gluteal muscles more than the thigh muscles, with a suggested ratio of 6:4 or 7:3. The reasoning behind this is the belief that gluteal muscles are more advantageous for endurance. However, observing the muscles of professional cyclists in the World Tour, the development of the quadriceps seems to exceed that of the gluteal muscles. I believe using all muscles equally in a 1:1 ratio is more appropriate. Phill, what are your thoughts on this?
Phil - I was introduced to you, via Katie's videos and found your information to be quite informative. I see that you have a book on fitting. I have a number of issues, that I didn't realized I had. I just thought you had to live through neck and shoulder pain, hip aches, etc. I've made adjustments over the years to lessen the pain, some work, others don't. What is the most current edition of your book? I live in the States., Hawaii, and it would be difficult to come in for a fitting. Also, how do you go about selecting a bike fitter? Opinions are so varied.
A small number of manufacturers now appear to be catching onto the advantage of shorter cranks by releasing lengths below 165mm but the question I have is how short is too short? Is it a case of finding the shortest crank possible that is compatible with your BB and chainrings and going with that?
Can you research, test, and give your opinion on the new Pedaling Innovations catalyst pedals? A different way to pedal. Feel like they are on to something but would like your expert opinion.
Phil as always - great advice ! There are a certain few people within the industry I listen to - you are one of them !
Who are the other people
