I own one of these and it works great for me, but I use it mainly on my garden and not compact earth as you did. I will be doing a similar job within a couple weeks however.
Just a suggestion, I noticed you raised the wheels before starting. The wheels in contact with the ground would've given you much more control over the machine and it would've been more tame. You can always raise it later once you have broken up the surface a bit. Try it next time unless you like bronco-busting. 😊

Thanks for the tip. I just finished up extending that little test run along the edge of the driveway, going across a fairly unlevel slope. Was a bit of a challenge keeping it in a straight line.
I also used this same tiller to break earth on my new garden and it worked great for that. Only issue was having to clear all the vines from the tines every 15 minutes or so. But now I have a garden where there was just scrub brush about a month ago, and its coming along just fine.

@@TwoAcreHomestead Yes, vines can be a problem along with long grass roots wrapping around the shaft and blades. Be sure to keep your distance from welded wire fence too. Found that out the hard way.

Yeah, I kept about 2 feet away from that fence, then mulched heavy between the garden and the fence to keep the weeds out. Tree roots were also fun to deal with, had a bunch of saplings that I lopped down close enough to the ground that I couldn't see the root till I was on em with the tiller.
      Fun times.

@@TwoAcreHomestead It's a lot easier when you only have to turn the garden soil over but it sure has plenty of power to do jobs like you have.

    alot of rocks!

Yeah, the garden section is going to be just as bad, need to figure a better way to separate them from the usable dirt. Might have some 1/2 inch gap hard wire metal screening left to make a sifter or something.

So, did this tiller “beat you up” or were you okay the next day? The hubby wants this but it looks pretty rough riding.

This was the first test run and was done on compacted fill with a ton of rocks in it.
I have other videos using it in the garden area where I used it to break hard clay and it worked fine.
It was a struggle with all the vines and other stuff, but once all that was broken thru it worked fine every season since to till the garden.
I'm not going to say tilling is fun or easy, but this one works fine and was a great deal for what I paid for it.

Why would anyone that had never run a tiller be doing a video on it anyway? Wheels down on startup, bud. This is one powerful little tiller, do not be afraid to buy it... in spite of this video.

Well, the title does say First Use.
I wanted to give it a test before breaking ground on the new garden, and the wife said she wanted to plant some flowers by the walkway, so there you go.
Yes, this is a great tiller. I used it to break ground on the garden and many times since and it works great. There are more videos of it being used on my channel.

I thought the Earthwise Electric Tiller was made for tilling "soil" and NOT Rocks ??? LOL

It chomped thru em, don't know whats under there til you start tilling.
Seriously tho, it did an awesome job on my garden plot, which is what I bought it for.
