The king of stupidly massive scenery is BACK ladies and gentlemen and today we officially kick off an absolutely massive build of the most famous location in all of Warhammer, the Imperial Palace on Terra from the grimdark universe of Warhammer 30000. This build is going to be an absolute monster, and I have actually already been working on it in disguise for well over a year. In today’s video we’re going to explore how on earth I’m going to tackle such a massive behemoth of a build, look at some of the techniques we have at our disposal and give you guys an update on all the progress so far, as well as the plan moving forwards. So without further ado let’s begin the biggest build in the history of Zorpazorp. Well for now at least.

I would love to see a Diorama of the Black Library, maybe during the Thousand Sons attempted assault. Something about an insane labyrinthine fortress of information guarded by a bunch of clown elves is so 40k and fun.
Oh I actually had an idea for that when I was a teenager, I'd love to revist it at some point!
@@Zorpazorp mate that would be incredible! In my mind i'd use mirrors to create false corridors and make it look bigger than it actually is or to capture the mind bending effect of the place. But i'm sure you could come up with some crazy effects
While we’re on old Terra, I’d like to see a board based around the story of the Emperor and the Last Church.

That may be my all time fave 40k story. The animated fan version is a work of art as well. Worth checking out for a lil inspiration.

Always thought the outskirts of the Imperial palace as they were in Valdor- Under construction, frozen/snowed over, and alllll unification era styling would be a sexy battleground.
That, or the Church of the Lightning Stone!
Just anything from the unification would be so sick, we don’t see nearly enough of it!
I'd love to see your take on the ancient hallowed home of Trazyn the infinite, the Galleries of the Tomb World of Solemnace.
Not only would it be cool to see a proper necron tomb city board, but all the various exhibits would make it an eclectic collection displaying all your crafting prowess. It could even be another collab project for the fellowship of Zorp
Having just read Valdor: birth of the Imperium, I'd love to see the reveal of the space marines on a snow covered mid built Imperial Palace. Shame it's not represented in the game itself as it is pre-heresy.
I'd love to see you take on the Fortress of Hera, the Ultramarines' fortress-monastery. Maybe even the Temple of Correction so you could recreate Guillimans' reawakening.
I would love to see the Inner and Outer works of Olympus Mons. The idea of the Mechanicum living inside the most massive volcano on Mars, is absolutely amazing.
Absolute mad man, look forward to seeing this project develop and love how honest and open you are being about the time frames and how long it takes to really bring these big projects together. Love what you're doing Locky, truly an inspiration!
Your builds are inspiring. Every time I watch one I want to break out my tools and begin crafting. As for build I would have to say it would be amazing to see Perturabo's masterpiece of Nikea.

I found this channel just recently, and it has quickly become one of my faves. Just such a concentrated bundle of awesomeness.
One of the best things about the current HH/SoT books is that the setting have almost become characters In themselves. The Vengeful Spirit’s slide into possession and of course the Imperial Palace. But dream location would be the Eternity Gate, been that way since I first saw the illustrations way back when sand imagine it’s only going to get better in the last books.
What would be cool to see is the throne room with the Golden Throne and Emperor of Mankind sitting on it.
This is really amazing. Looking forward to following the videos as you build and show off this great piece. I love building and kitbashing scenery, and watching your videos of both battle reports and building videos like this is a great inspiration (but I will never be able to field it like you do though).
While it isn't bloody enormous, I'd love to see u tackle the throne room of the vengeful spirit! Where Horus slays the emperor and finally becomes the Warhammer 40000! XD

One thing would love to see you build is an imperial battle ship split into a few layers so it’s completely playable but make it in such a way as it’s being boarded so the attacking player starts ‘outside’ the ship and have to fight their way through to the engine room the bridge etc, do really like the 3D printed stuff definitely a viable alternative for larger builds
I'd love to see a world like Caliban for a game! 40k and 30k usually are played on deserts/industrial worlds, I'd love to see a more overgrown/forest map (which could also be used for some AoS too)
You sir are a madman and I love it! Love your terrain work! As far as locations go, I'd love to see your take on The Fang of the Space Wolves! I think it would fit into some pieces you've done with mountain sides, snow themed, with imperial structures adorned with Space Wolf talismans and such!

You, Squidmar, Miniac, Ninjon, Broadsword, etc. (Basically all the big hobby UA-camrs) need to get together and build a museum for this stuff. I know Warhammer world is out there but I’ve gotta admit I think this is gonna take the cake.

I'd love to see The Rock, a floating fortress-monastery with Dark Angels iconography sounds neat
A classic piece you could tackle next would be the city of Tizca on Prospero. It has a lighter vibe than the usual gothic architecture of the Imperium and some interesting techniques could be developed.
This is amazing - one other heresy setting I’d love to see is the Pharos on Sotha, what better place to fight than a weird Xenos mountain ocarina lighthouse!

I'd say a battle venue that would be amazing to see would be Istvaan III and the Choral City, as that is probably the most intense and brutal part of the heresy (from my point of view anyway)

I'd love to see someone try tackling the Noctis Labyrinth, as it's such a superstitious place that not even on Mars does anyone want to settle there. It's a really important lore piece though, since it houses the entrance to the dragon of Mars, the likely founder of the Mechanicum. Even though it's so important, very little description is given about it so I'd love to see how someone would interpret such a place.

This man is truly the god of massive terrain. The imperial palace is probably the biggest single continuous city I can think of, period. I mean, that thing is the size of a continent. I would love to see you recreate Macragge. Not only would it be a great heresy battleground, but also a great 40k one(battle of macragge). Plus, who doesn’t love a snowy castle/Roman city?
In fiction? Cause Ravnica from Magic: The Gathering may be bigger. It depends on if the plane is planet-shaped, or if (as a fantasy setting) the world is flat and just keeps going. No one in Ravnica knows where the city ends, if indeed it ever does.
I don’t play Magic the Gathering, but that sounds pretty massive as well. I don’t know, it’s definitely the biggest city I’m aware of in fiction, but I’m sure there are others.

Ive been building my city for nearly a year now so this timing couldn't be better.
Adding in height has been my biggest challenge thus far and I don't have access to a 3d printer so I'm keen to see how you tackle height and where you use and don't use 3d prints.

Geez this is an epic build looking forward to seeing the rest. Here I am mapping out my next 30 x 22 table. Now you are working on the palace surely the next logical build is the Vengeful Spirit, that would make for an epic encounter between you and Oliver in the coming years.
I would love to see some of the fortresses on Baal as seen in the Horus Heresy when many of the loyalists took refuge there as the Blood Angels are my favourite legion!

Yeasss epiccc!! So much good inspo! For cool location - An inside of a bridge of a space marine battleship or spacehulk - some kind of modular multi level zone mortalis shenanigans (could even fit Necromunda or any other hive zone)
The fact that I’m yet to see anyone who plays 40k/30k build the imperial palace as it was during the Horus heresy until this bloke is beyond me. Sure the cost is hectic. And sure the scale would be truly immense. If you’re building according to the description from the various siege of terra books then you’d have an abundance of background as to how exactly the palace looks. Kilometre high walls, hundreds of meters thick, you’d think that warhammer world would have some sort of battle scene from saturnine or Warhawk etc.
I honestly hope you do the palaces jail cells where the shadow keepers hangout. I feel like there is a lot of creativity to be explored there but I can see how it being under ground doesn't meld well with the rest of the project

A project that would look great and be playable would be The Iron Cage. Where the Iron Warriors lured the Imperial Fists into an unwinnable battle where Perturabo finally got his victory over Dorn. I think it would look pretty amazing, and if you wanted a mid-battle aesthetic, then torn down fences, walls and plenty of barbed wire would definitely make for a gritty, thematic build. A huge structure that won't blend in with this palace or cities, it will look like it's own thing entirely. I think that would be awesome.

The drop site massacre on Istvaan 5 is a must for your story telling. That would be something else. And I just love converting w printed bits. It opens up the hobby so much.
I think something BIG and GRAND you need to try out could be the Drop Site Massacre before the hellstorm happened, the a lot of people kinda see it as just a big dustbowl but there was *so much more* to it than that, there were massed fortifications, bunkers, ancient ruins and hills if not mountains that, may have shown some life if I remember correctly.
A quiet morning, a low rumble, the beginning of the end, but in this moment, it's peaceful.
Building the Imperial palace is right up your alley!! You are the one person who can pull it off!! Places I want to see built would be the fang. Obviously the space wolves fan wants to see the fang. But the way it’s described it being impenetrable. It’s has guns all over it. Maybe you could do a thousand sons attack on Fenris. Thank you for all you do!!!
Tau core worlds are rather pleasant places. Little corruption, great employment possibilities, free healthcare and housing and reasonable freedom. Heck, you can even have religious freedom, something unheard of in the Imperium. The Tau caste system is a bit rigid, but if you're human you are kinda outside all of that, which means your position is a little less equal than the Tau but you have the freedom to decide what you want to do in life. And if you're willing to work hard to you can raise up the social ladder.
Also, Tau facilities are environmentally friendly, technology is working fine without pesky machine spirits trying to electrocute you, and the living standards are on par with Imperial paradise worlds,this would be awsome to see!
I will be here in however many years to see the final product.

"Now Peals Midnight" states the western edge of the palace will experience sundown 4 hours after the eastern edge... The palace spans 4 timezones you utter madman I can't wait to see this thing finished 10 years from now.
You're an absolute madlad! I love the scope of your terrain builds. Maybe not an exact location but a huge playable space hulk/battleship (Furious Abyss??) would be quite interesting to see and probably quite challenging to pull off.
I'd love to see you tackle the battle of Sotha and The pharos beacon!! four primarchs and 3 legions sounds like a dream come true for those sexy scenic/movie-like battles

I've always thought that a board combining multiple factions' terrain would be cool. Something like a Necron Tomb World that's been discovered by Imperial or T'au colonists, or something being built around Eldar ruins.

Since the superb Primogenitor series, I've always wanted to try making Biles laboratory fortress on Urum, along with his Consortium of Apothecaries and creations, not untill I finish my dozens of other projects though! I'd love to see your interpretation of this!
I love these massive builds. Keeping in that spirit, and since I play Space Wolves, The Fang! It is considered the second largest fortress in the Imperium, eclipsed only by the Imperial Palace. It is the fortress base of the Space Wolves. They took the tallest mountain on Fenris and carved a base into it. When described how it looks from the outside it appears to be more artifice than natural mountain and sparkling with lights from windows and external lumens. It has massive turrets in the shape of wolf heads and such. Large highways connect entry corridors on the fortress to other surrounding mountain peaks that have various functions. Aside from being big, it is also an interesting marriage of old viking warrior style mixed with that 40k industrial aesthetic.
OR
A playable battle barge, multi-floors like buildings but it is all one big ship. The exterior could just serve as a shell that is removed when you need to play/access the interior settings. If we need a specific ship, the Vengeful Spirit sounded really crazy inside but you could easily do any Ultramarine or Word Bearer ship if you wanted to keep to those legions.
The most memorable location for me would be a Hive Cities under hive. It only is there the claustrophobic winding tunnels but the pockets of ancient and powerful machines whose purpose and knowledge of operation are lost to the ages.

The Urgall Depression where the Istvan 5 dropsite massacre would be epic. Also the Pharos facility from the book Pharos would be interesting. It's an ancient alien facility inside a mountain.
Not gonna lie, id like to see a "Fall of Cadia" board/diorama with a bunch of Guardsmen just doing what Guardsmen do best- Holding the line. Always love to see your videos, I get so freakin excited when I see them on my recommended page. Keep up the badass work

OTP are awesome! Glad they’re on board helping out. 3D printing is a great timesaver (and game changer), though without design skills or my own printer, it hasn’t replaced other techniques. They all have a place, though these days kit bashing or buying 3D kits from pls es like OTP are my go to options
I think a board themed around the tank war on Tallarn during the Heresy would be amazing! Buidling some really varied desert terrain with tank wrecks and some of those cool smoke effects you pointed out from the Warhammer world display.
I'd love to see you make Barbarus, the infected home-world of the Death Guard. I think seeing you make a corrupted, infected landscape and structures would be awesome!

Honestly you've inspired me to make a ton of my own terrain and start making tables, its nothing special right now but I have a bunch of modular city buildings (or 1 huge castle) made from sprue I built watching the hive city zorpazorp. I would love to see you tackle something like a section of a Blackstone fortress, the art in the new-ish boxed game makes them look both very 40k, but also so incredibly alien- and hell if you get bored with it you can always blow up cadia with it
I would love to see you do a board for the Devastation of Ball filled with astartes and human conscripts fighting off tyranids with blade, bolter, and conscript artillery! Its just such a cool set piece i gotta see brought to life!

The fall of Caliban how amazing to build a board where the planet is crumbling around the last fight of the Dark Angels and the Fallen. I would love to see this and even help from all the way from Northern Ireland
There's tones of amazing location in 30k but the one I'd most like to see rebuilt on that table top is THE VENGEFUL SPIRIT Hours flagship and the scene of his defeat and the wounding of the emperor.
Not only is it pivotal to the story of the siege of terra but it couldn't look very cool. A mix of cramped industry spaces and vast open space like the embarkation hangers and gothic architecture all tinged with the warps touch. Then there's the Lupercal's Court with the iconic steps Sanguinius dies on.
You could use a load of different techniques, plastic kits and 3d printing for much of the inside elements and the main architectural 'stonework' of the hull would be great rendered in your foam work style.
I’d love to see you take on the Istvaan dropsite massage, with all the fortifications, trenches, smashed vehicles, mounds of loyalist dead , fighting legionaries and Fulgrim v Ferrus Manus at the centre. Marvellous

As a certified Squat fan, I'd like to seethe battles of the galactic core during the great crusade!
Here's one: the Galleries of Solemnace, the Great Archives of the Nihilakh Dynasty; domain of the Archeovist himself, Trazyn the Infinite.
Not only could incorporate a fair bit of modularity as Necrontyr architecture tends to be repetitive, but you could also include plenty of little easter eggs and bits of visual storytelling with the various "exhibits."

It would be amazing to see either Iron Cage of Sebastus IV, pre-wolved up Prospero or perhaps a set of Vengeful Spirit's decks to run the campaign, building up to the climactic battle on the Bridge, trying to answer the "would that be possible?" scenario of Horus defeating the Emperor
I think that a great battle piece to create would be one of the battle grounds of istvaan IV. This would obviuosy tie in well with the current horus heresy focus and could even give inspiration for a campiagn after the current Mark of Calth campaign. Keep up the good work!

Be great to see a smashed open Astropathic Choir - full of grim dark psykers wired in to chairs unable to escape the carnage around them. Would also make for a thematic objective.
I'd absolutely love to see the screaming gallery in the fortress on Tsagualsa of the night lords, or i might end up doing it myself lol

The amount of variation in the Imperial Palace is insane. I look forward to seeing if you get to the Katabat Terrace or Inner Gardens (both part of the Inner Palace).
I find the Phalanx an exceptionally cool location, that and the old warp gates mentioned throughout the books.
Something about locations in space makes them really cool.

I think a cool location to work on would be that of the interior of a ship either still in space or crashed on a planet surface, possibly within a gun deck that spills out onto a level of a Hive city.
