Ok now we need to do a Tea Time with Amy. I’m sure she would be down for it since she’s done a lot of radio shows and other podcasts these days. So glad you are doing the Open Door!! Lacrymosa, given your classical background, would be an interesting next step, but Lithium is a must do.
It's important to note that the harmonics or "doubling" are not actually Amy being duplicated and tacked on via overlay. Those vocals are her sisters, Lori and Carrie. This is one of the few unique songs where they sing the harmonics with Amy.
@@DoNotFitInACivic I was pretty sure I remembered this being the case, but just in case I just cracked open my CD case for "The Open Door" and in the liner notes there is a special line that directly states 'Background Vocals for "Call Me When You're Sober" Performed by Carrie Lee and Lori Lee'! I'm pretty sure she has featured her sisters once or twice before, but I remembered she had them on that one because her family really carried her through that very messy breakup.
I also think she said it in a behind the scenes for the making of this video. I want to say it was in the special extras on the CD of Open door. It might have just been something I saw on the television. I wasn't sure I remembered it correctly until this comment.
I’ve been screaming about this for years. I only wish there was a live performance with the choir or even music video. That’s one of the most slept on songs of her career. You have to be such a choir nerd to understand how cool it is. Not my favorite requiem, but it’s definitely up there.
Amazing! Now we just need "Everybody's Fool", and you've covered every single of my favorite Evanescence songs that has a music video! Thank you so much for covering this, and also for giving praise to the fantastic contribution from rest of the band, despite Amy's absolutely haunting vocals!
I’m from Little Rock and so she was always easy to see live before she became mega famous. I had to drive five hours to see this concert and it was easily the best live I’ve heard from her.
TEA TIME WITH AMY LEE!! Oh my god that would be a dream and something I need in my life ❤️ I recommend LOST IN PARADISE, the vocals with the piano in that song will send you to the moon and beyond
Nothing vague or open to interpretation about these lyrics. She's coming right down Main Street with this one and smacking you right between the eyes. Incredible song. Incredible singer.

I've listened to this song for decades, and I STILL get full body chills every time I hear it. The message, and the music are powerful enough on their own; but the video is pure genius!
This whole album was a masterpiece. Really. Not one bad song on it. "Your Star" is one of my favorites for combining great vocals and classical infused rock (Amy called it "classical sauce" in an interview). And "Good Enough" is just Amy and the piano. It's all so good!
Oh how I wish I could travel to Canada to see Evanescence, Halestorm and The Warning ON THE SAME BILL, later this month. Top tier women who rock concert!!!! 💯💥
I was wishing the same thing! After she posted “Evolve” I have been in love with The Warning! Watching and listening to everything they do and a chance to see Halestorm and Evanescence with them would 🤯 mind blowing
Simply my favourite song by Evanescence. Doesn't matter what the song is about, I can listen and enjoy it, even if it doesn't compare to my personal situation and feelings.
My Immortal is definitely worth listen. Will leave you in tears. And since you are doing a female vocalist - i know it's not rock BUT Alanis Morrisette Uninvited gives me the chills everytime I hear it. Her vocals on that are one of a kind
I’m so happy you caught Amy’s lyric change at the very end. So many people miss it and it was so prophetic of you in saying just before sometimes you have to love someone (and yourself) enough to know you have to let them go
When this came out, I remember I read about how when she 'flies' the harness bruised her ribs. Also, those are wolves. The sheer production value of this MV is incredible.
I'd like to see you react to Hello. It's not a song that gets played a lot (very personal song for Amy, and she said she will never sing it live) but her voice is incredible in that song.
You should react to Hello. It's one of their saddest songs, and it's one that really showcases her range, but it's always ignored by reactors because it's criminally underrated and not as popular as some of their other songs.
I am a 31 year old man and any time this song comes on shuffle I replay it at least three times because singing along with it is one of my guilty pleasures. (Don't worry, I don't subject anyone to that lmao)
The visuals and the lightness the songs gets when she sings "its over." always gives me chills. My mom showed me this song even before I could really understand the conflicts behind it but the emotion was enough to feel what Amy was going through. Still hits just as hard.
I love how you break down music with in-depth explanations of how air moves within the mouth, or how deep you go with such beautiful enthusiasm glowing with your mannerisms and words. My favorite Vocal Analysis.
Hey Elizabeth, you really need to check out the band InThis Moment, Maria Brink is a real force of nature. Thanks for everything you do, you are a true gem!

I know youve already done My Immortal but the music video version, which by the way just recently topped a billion views, is one of my all time faves.. Love to see your reaction to it.. I used to stay up til like 2 in the morning to catch it on MTV.. Such a powerful song that helped me thru a tough time in my life.. And by the way i saw her, front row, final show of the summer 04 tour in her hometown of Little Rock Arkansas.. Totally worth being smashed against the security fence for 3 hours just to see her live with Chevelle, Seether and Finger 11..
The whole album "The open door" is so good! One of my top 5 ever. So all songs are going to be a treat to listen to but please do Lithium or Lacrymosa 🖤🖤
You NEED to listen to Evanescence’s Synthesis album! I was fortunate enough to catch Amy Lee perform with a full orchestra promoting this album. “End of the Dream” synthesis version is my favorite ❤️
Love every Evanescence analysis!! Little different than your usual, but have you heard Alanis Morissette's Uninvited? It's got really interesting vocals and instrumentals. Very unique song.
I’ve been waiting for you to do this one!!! I’ve seen several reactions to this video, but I knew none would compare to yours…..and I was not disappointed!
Loved seeing this song analyzed. She gets me every time on this one, especially with the key change up near the end. How COULD I? You were never mine! Awesome.
Amazing reaction as usual Elizabeth! I love this song so much, might be my favorite from them besides My Immortal for all the reasons you have just pointed out. I would also like to suggest you to check out Alanis Morissette, as you have been reacting to woman in rock and she’s a big part of it. She has got some great hits, I’d particularly like you to check on You Oughtta Know (another breakup anthem!) and Uninvited (which I think you would completely love because of the orchestra and haunting vibes)
Watching your eyebrows dance when you explain a certain geek out moment is what we are here for. Your excitement is infectious. The red riding hood imagery in this video is perfect too as she sheds the hood and takes the power back. You note the male actor has a very shaggy, wild appearance
I highly recommend reacting to Apocalyptica - 'Bittersweet' feat. Lauri Ylönen & Ville Valo The stark contrast between Ville's and Lauri's voices is unbelievable yet they fit so well and sound beautiful together!
Plastic man, driven under, sympathetic, there are just so so many. Again, I wish more reactions to live singing instead of the recorded versions were done. One cold night has some great versions of their songs
You should do "the last song I'm wasting on you", also a breakup song and I think it shows first of all pure unfiltered emotion. And her technique in it is immaculate. Her best song in my opinion.
Amy Lee has been an integral part of my life, through every kind of heartbreak I've ever experienced. I've been listening to her since middle school (I'm 32 now)and to hear somebody break her music down more to an even deeper level, Between technique and admiration for the emotional aspect of her music makes me emotional. I feel like she captures pain in such a beautiful way that it's easy to digest like medicine. It just makes me love Evanescence and Amy Lee just so much more. I've listened and sang my heart out to every song on every album and also the little secret songs she's released and I just thoroughly appreciate every little bit of it. She sings with so much emotion and is such a powerhouse. As for a song, if you should analyze next, I would recommend Whisper From her Fallen album. I'm interested on hearing the feedback on her techniques as well as the emotional value of the song.
"Good Enough" is another great song from the second album, its elavating and ethereal,Amy's vocals are exceptional, and the visuals are stunning, honestly one of my favourite songs
This song and the Seether one take me back to my teens so much lol Amy Lee has always been such a phenomenal singer and artist. I'm so happy for you to go on a journey of her amazing music. Edit: This was early 00s. So definitely before the TV show for Game of Thrones lol
I just had the time to watch your reaction. I absolutely loved seeing it. I knew after your other reactions to Amy Lee’s voice that you would love this song and was SO excited anticipating when you would see it. Thank you, for a great reaction. 😊💖💐
Love this song! Though it is basically a diss on one of my favorite artists, Shaun Morgan 😂 Shaun wrote Seether's song Breakdown as a response, would be interesting lf you also analysed that song!
Out of all the recent bands evanescence's and Amys voice is one of my favorites she has so much going on lyrically and sonically. she can at times have a hunting quality to a beautiful sound and almost any ware in between. lithium is a pleas do for us in the audience.
Elizabeth! I know you get a ton of comments but I hope you see this! I personally would love you to death if you react to all of evanescence’s songs, but my faves would be Sweet Sacrifice, Good Enough, and Lithium. I also saw someone else recommend Lacrymosa and that one would be awesome! Love you and all the work you do!
I bet there were too many mentions of this song in Broken comments section for Elizabeth to get curious. Since we already covered finger-pointing, let's skip who's to blame and just enjoy this song. I wonder if Elizabeth noticed that unlike in any other Evanescence song, harmonies here are done by Amy's sisters Carrie and Lori. They also helped record Amy's album for kids Dream Too Much. Premiers in 13 hours 😵💫
I WAS WONDERING WHEN SOMEONE WOULD MENTION THIS!!! I sang in all region with Lorri. She’s a couple years younger than I am. Little Rock is definitely Little. And Dream Too Much is awesome.
I wondered if you would ever do this song considering the other ones you've done of theirs. This is one of my favorite ones, simply due to the all around pleasing sounds. The lyrics are not positive, but her voice and music cause it to be so amazing that it actually heightens the message itself. Very good song.
This song was my introduction to Evanescence. My son had me listen to it when my husband (after getting kicked out of the home) kept calling me drunk on almost a nightly basis. The next time he called I sang it to him instead of just saying it. Told (begged) him to get some help. He never did. 9 months later I got into a wonderful relationship and he and I are still together 17 years later. (also have listened to all the Evanescence I can. I just love this group. They mean so much to me. Thank you for reviewing and analyzing this.
The entire album this song is from is just fantastic. The band, production, and of course Amy's voice just line up perfectly. I still listen it frequently.
"My heart is broken" Best song Greatest vocal performance best video. Emotion off the scale. And a brilliant piano part. Amy is the best. When she sings the word broken it's breathtaking.
Amy Lee was in a relationship with the lead singer Shaun Morgan from the band Seether from 2003 to 2005. After their separation due to his addiction to substances, she wrote "Call Me When Your Sober" about him. Also, her voice is so haunting, yet dreamy. Excited to hear your breakdown of the production, lyrics and everything! Always so enlightening. Thank you for everything you do!
'I Apologise' by Five Finger Death Punch is a personal song about the lead singer, Ivan Moody, struggling with alcohol addiction, very powerful video and lyrics!
I'm not really what you would call a "huge" Evanescence fan, but I do enjoy some of their work. However...when I first saw this video, I immediately fell in love with those eyes. OMG! I think I could watch Amy gaze up at the camera with those beautiful eyes of hers and strut down that long table all day long. She is such a gorgeous person. This is definitely the song that made me a bigger Evanescence fan than I was before. Thank you so, so much for reacting to this.
I’m late to this, but… “The Last Song I’m Wasting On You”. PLEASE. From the first breath to the final breath, I think you will find this song an absolutely fascinating performance that will either bring you to goosebumps or draw out some tears. When you hit that third “Run!” in the song you will be absolutely overwhelmed. You talked about bringing an emotion to a performance…this song can not be done without it. It’s not-traditional in its structure but it just absolutely works. I know that the song is not a big single, it doesn’t have a music video, and it’s outside the pop culture zeitgeist beyond the hardest of hardcore Evanesence fans. But even if it won’t bring in the views, it’ll be such a fascinating listen for you, and the analysis will be fascinating to us. Thank you!!!
Great reaction Elizabeth!! Had the wonderful fortune to see Evanescence open for Muse on their last tour here in Toronto - what a one-two punch of heavy, awesome music!! Amy's voice sounded as strong and powerful as it does here!! The new album is something to behold as well - highly recommend checking it if you haven't. This song live was incredible! Cheers from Canada, eh!
Until addressed, addiction always wins. Those without addictive personalities can never understand what it's like to want, more than anything, to stop being addicted but simply can't. Those with addictive personalities can't simply explain what's going on in their heads...they are totally aware of what's happening around them and the destruction they're causing, but the sickness doesn't care at all for anything other than being satisfied.
Amy Lee is incredible at writing backing vocals and harmonies. Many artists make backing vocals seem like an afterthought, but she puts incredible care into crafting them.
I hope some of these singers get to see some of the reaction videos. Amy get so much praise deservedly it would be interesting to hear her comments on the reactions.
While this is obviously about Shaun, most of the album is, to the point his friends recommended him not to listen to it. Let's just say if you cross Amy Lee the world will know!
All through this analysis I was just repeating "Wait until you get to the bridge!" and I was so happy with your reaction to it XD This song is so amazing in every way.
Yes, finally! This is my go to karaoke song and definitely my top 3 Evanescence songs. Amy does this so well live too. Also that guy in the music video is a babe. I'm glad you're doing more Amy videos, to me she has the best vocals of any female rock artist. She should have won so many awards.
Lithium please!!! I really think this is her best vocal performance.
Lithium was her best but now I think Good Enough is better
elizabeth is gonna love lithium, agree that it is one of Amy Lee's best
Lithium is so beautiful ❤️
Please do lithium!
Yep, Lithium is probably her best ever.
Ok now we need to do a Tea Time with Amy. I’m sure she would be down for it since she’s done a lot of radio shows and other podcasts these days. So glad you are doing the Open Door!! Lacrymosa, given your classical background, would be an interesting next step, but Lithium is a must do.
YEA! Plus she could probably get in contact with amy pretty easily cause she can did a tea time with lzzy from halestorm
Yes! Please!
Ohh I would love to see Tea Time with Amy.
That would be GREAT.
I love that song for its classical vibe
It's important to note that the harmonics or "doubling" are not actually Amy being duplicated and tacked on via overlay. Those vocals are her sisters, Lori and Carrie. This is one of the few unique songs where they sing the harmonics with Amy.

As someone classically trained, I think you would enjoy Amy's rendition of Lacrymosa. It's one of my favorite Evanescence songs.
Yes! Yes!
This one for sure!!!! Please do!!!!
One of the top two pop songs ever to sample Mozart's Requiem (the other I can think of being Ludacris' Comin' 2 America)
I’ve been screaming about this for years. I only wish there was a live performance with the choir or even music video. That’s one of the most slept on songs of her career. You have to be such a choir nerd to understand how cool it is. Not my favorite requiem, but it’s definitely up there.
That whole album is insane
"Good Enough". Amy's vocals are just peerless in this song, would love to see you cover it.
Allways makes me think of my son and daugther.
Yes yes yes. Good enough is so fantastic
Love that song!!!!
Y favorite Evanescence song from that album.
They also used the song in an episode of CSI
Absolutely! Good Enough and Call Me When You're Sober so made me fall head-over-heels with Amy
The giggle at the end is one of my favorite parts of the song, oddly enough. Something seems so real about it.

Not to mention the "Bring me to life" without the corporate mandated "We need a guy singing something in here." Very different feel.
Lost in paradise from that album is really something else
COMPLETELY Agree.
I second this statement. It's an amazing album. The majority of the songs on that album are re-imangings of preexisting songs. 🤘🏻🖤
TEA TIME WITH AMY LEE!!

"Speak to me" by her is also a wonderful piece that always make me cry
"The Only One" is literally one of ( if not ) my favorite tracks from Evanescence. It is so incredibly underrated and awesome.

Edit: This was early 00s. So definitely before the TV show for Game of Thrones lol
Eeeee this is my favorite Evanescence song! I am so glad you covered it!
Love the 'Little Red Riding Hood' vibes. So cool...
I just had the time to watch your reaction. I absolutely loved seeing it. I knew after your other reactions to Amy Lee’s voice that you would love this song and was SO excited anticipating when you would see it. Thank you, for a great reaction. 😊💖💐
My favorite song from the open door followed by lithium.❤❤
She always gives me shivers, I think her and her voice are the most beautiful things.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
Dying to see an interview between you and Amy!
Love this song! Though it is basically a diss on one of my favorite artists, Shaun Morgan 😂
Shaun wrote Seether's song Breakdown as a response, would be interesting lf you also analysed that song!
I just said the same thing
Experiencing artists when they are at their peak is always a treat especially if you get to see them live.
Nailed it !
Suggestion: Red Handed Denial - “Father Said” (Lauren Babic live one take performance) amazing performance by an even more amazing artist.
Out of all the recent bands evanescence's and Amys voice is one of my favorites she has so much going on lyrically and sonically. she can at times have a hunting quality to a beautiful sound and almost any ware in between. lithium is a pleas do for us in the audience.
Please do "Good Enough" next. I think it's her best vocal performance in a song.
Amy's live Nobel Peace Prize performance of Lost in Paradise is incredible, you should check that out.
Yes indeed, incredible song incredible live performance.
Thank you for everything you do!
to add on, Seether's song "Breakdown" is believed to be a response to this song and about Shaun's perspective on the relationship
Amy is one of my favourite female singers. Her voice is hypnotic for me.
I’m late to this, but…
“The Last Song I’m Wasting On You”.
This ☝️
Great reaction Elizabeth!!
1:17 I KNOW, RIGHT?! 😁❤
The starts the best 😄
I remember when that video first came out and Amy's smile melted my heart, that happened again today, great song, great singer.
😁I love Shaun response with the song "BreakDown". With his head as a rubix cube because Amy plays alot head games😮😮😮😮
I hope some of these singers get to see some of the reaction videos. Amy get so much praise deservedly it would be interesting to hear her comments on the reactions.
We need "Lightening Crashes" by "Live".
I must have heard this song HUNDREDS of times, without fail I get goosebumps still
While this is obviously about Shaun, most of the album is, to the point his friends recommended him not to listen to it. Let's just say if you cross Amy Lee the world will know!
All through this analysis I was just repeating "Wait until you get to the bridge!" and I was so happy with your reaction to it XD This song is so amazing in every way.
I love how excited you get the first time you hear something... it's adorable
'Understanding' is my favourite song by Evanesence. It was an unreleased song but it's brilliant the narration through fits perfectly
Great evanescence, call me when your sober. Love it so much.
