As a 4th sem software engineering student with blockchain as my specific area of interest, this actually makes me sad.
Social media has led to an awareness boom which has led to random people with no knowledge about this technology investing in this bubble.
Its like the late 1990s where everyone was trying to add .com to their name even if it made no sense..... Similarly, today everyone is trying to get into NFTs and blockchain.
The worst part is that engineers are being forced to feed this demand in a pandemic hit economy. They are trying to squeeze every buck from wherever they can.
Just today I had an internship interview with a start-up who were trying to integrate blockchain into their game app. The founders knew nothing about blockchain because they genuinely had no need for it...... Yet they wanted it because it was good for "valuation"(I don't know how that works or how it is calculated).
