He could take off the good parts of the Walmart bike, put back on the stock parts, sell the Walmart bike, get a used good branded one, put a BAFANG BBS01 ir 02 on it. Must not be the BBSHD. Also: Put right tires on it. In a lot of the cases it's better to built right away the right bike. The trend are bikes like RAD, Himiway, Walmart and so on. Bikes that seem cheap on first sight. But if one has to upgrade almost everything, one pay double price.
After riding with us some more, Raphael is strongly considering a Bafang kit 🤣. Especially after our last ride this past weekend when his Walmart ebike battery died. I completely agree with what you are saying about upgrading a cheap bike. To some its for the fun of modifying with cheap parts though, but yes, when they break or malfunction, double the cost to replace. Thanks for commenting!
@@FirstTimersCycling If you can, return the bike to Walmart. There must be still warranty/returning time, or not? Raphael could buy a good branded used mountainbike and a Bafang BBS kit. Sometimes there are also used MTBs that have also Bafang BBS mounted, for example versions from Luna Cycle.
@@jonasmeier417 Yeah Raphael is going to see if he can return it and get the Bafang BBS kit. He has another mtb that may fit the motor and battery. When it comes time to do it, we will do the measurements to see. Otherwise he'll have to get another used mtb.
Raphael should look into getting mountain bike tires (game changer) those stock tires are trash

Yup, Raphael is trying not to spend too much on his bike. But maybe after a few more falls he'll finally listen to us hahahah. Even for me when I was riding it on the downhill, it was SUPER sketchy. Like I was hydroplaning. The stock tires do roll well on hardpacked dirt and pavement though.
