    People are tearing this presentation apart with so many critiques. Let it go. It was clearly an accident that she said psycho-sexual. Psycho-social was written on the screen. She's not that difficult to understand. Be grateful that anyone even took the time to make something like this for you.

    Damn, studying this for pediatrics but I couldn't help but pause and reflect on my own self. I'm 22 yet I still always doubt myself in everything and I feel like such a people pleaser and self-esteem is to the ground. I remember how my mom would overly criticize me growing up. This makes sense :(

    A long-time Nurse who has applied Erickson's stages throughout my career- its been really valuable in helping people to identify where they're at, and then work through it and thrive. I integrate his concepts with Maslow's Heirchy of Needs. The setting where I really saw these crises manifesting was while working in a state prison in a large population, where these unresolved crises were quite evident. Good stuff, thanks for posting 👍

      Yeah, I looked at my stage and said, "Hell no!" I'm partying it up tomorrow cause it's my birthday and I'm also ready to date! I feel sorry for whoever is interested in me because I'm too psycho for anyone but whoever can put up with me (I'm attracted to bisexual women, by the way), is worth keeping and I'm about to purchase a home in my dream state so the next person that I actually like 100% will become my wife. 🙏

    It seems like Erikson got in a bit of a rush towards the end of these stages, I mean 18-40 years old is a large age gap. Of course more development happens at an earlier age and therefore has more phases. But I think it would be useful to have a more specified 6th stage. Great video!

    • @Iambunny-ry2os
      @Iambunny-ry2os 2 роки тому +1

      No, it’s a theory of development as in how people develop into the behavior they exhibit as adults. some things are so fundamental once they’re experienced in childhood they affect the individual for the rest of their lives, whether it’s to unlearn or further explore whatever trait it is, just like ur body you don’t grow fundamental skills learned in childhood. For example forbidden experiments where children raised w wolfs could no longer learn Human language or mannerisms. Yes you can learn but you can not change fundamental skills as far as we know so it wouldn’t make sense to have development up until the person is 40 because at that time they have already developed their personality.

    • @jaetrnn6000
      @jaetrnn6000 10 місяців тому +2

      I think that this is a fair criticism to make. 18-40 really is a large age gap however, it might not actually be a large as it seems in other cases. The other thing is that this theory is considered under the psychosocial framework and like it was stated at the beginning of the video this means that it is mostly to do with the development of an individual's sense of self in combination with external factors related to the external world within a social context meaning friends, family, society and culture.
      The theory itself is also about 70 years old and formed at a time when psychology was in its infancy.

    This lesson is well put together. I have received more out of it than other searches. The presenter has given a clearer understanding through thorough explanation. She spends a minimal amount of time on each stage but speaks clear in her examples, which set an understanding on what the child-adult is going through. One example I like is allowing the child to put their own clothes on and supporting their effort. Another is in stage 4, when the presenter talks of the child's need to show competence/pride among their peers and parents. The presenter also explains the negative outcome through good examples; like, how rebellion and not knowing who they are, a big stage in transitioning to adulthood. Also, there is comments about how mistakes, stress, and loss of control contribute to balance, when some guilt does contribute to positive choices. Yes, this video is my go-to for Erikson's PD. Well done.
