American brands focus on wooden construction hint hint. Not many places in Europe give a damn how fast you can put a screw into wood or cut 2x4.

There’s also something to be said about American attitudes. Bosch focuses on good engineering and ergonomics. Their tools are lighter and more efficient than domestically-designed tool companies. As a Bosch user, I get shit from folks who lug around their heavy, loud American tools. I think insecure men feel they need that as a prop, like big trucks.

I’ve had no issues with my 18v stuff, aside from my first slim packs finally hitting the end of their lives after 15 years. As someone that occasionally works on random house renovations, I quite like that my tools are less likely to walk away since everyone uses yellow or red. Also easier to figure out who’s tools are whose when you have roommates that also have power tools. I hunt around and find the best deal, usually not any more expensive than the other brands. Honestly, seems a bit pointless to make a video saying a brand is irrelevant when it’s not a quality issue.

Here internationally, i got all their large line of lastest quality cordless tools. Bosch North America needs to follow suit of the colleagues in the UK & Germany, as they both got monthly livestreams on UA-cam, showcasing their tools & answering our questions of up coming new tools, plus they do country wide tours by themselves every week of every month showcasing their tools, along with attending tool shows when they come around. So us Professionals are fully aware of their large cordless tool line. In Europe, Bosch is more common, but owning a bunch of Blue, i really hesitate to buy more. Their oscillating tool uses non standard blades(starlock) blue 18v batteries don't fit green 18v tools. So i wanted to buy some garden equipment which Bosch has in the green line but my batteries won't fit. Even though they are fairly common in my area, I need a good reason to buy Bosch

I have to disagree with your take on Bosch tools. I have quite a few Bosch tools. Corded, 18v and 12 volt. They are all fantastic tools, and I got most of them on sale. My appreciation for the brand goes back to the Bosch barrel grip jigsaw which to this day IMO is still the best jigsaw on the planet. I also have to disagree about the sales. Lowes frequently puts Bosch tools on sale and gives free batteries, or a battery and a charger. Just today I purchased the 18v compact reciprocating saw for $129 and got two free 4ah batteries. The quality of the tools is always top notch. I have frequently used batteries that are at least 8 years old and have never had one fail. I also have a couple Dewalt 20v tools that I couldn’t pass up because a got a fantastic deal on them. I got a steal on a high torque 1/2 impact that came with a charger and 5ah battery for $150. The DeWalt tools are fine but I still believe that when you catch them on sale Bosch offers some the best value for dollar tools on the market. It’s not the sexiest brand out there, and they don’t have in your face marketing like some other tool brands, but they are still very relevant. I’m a firm believer in that when it comes to tools… any tools you should buy what makes you happy. For some it’s Festool, for others it’s Milwaukee. For me it’s Bosch. I get the fiz when I use my Bosch tools, and if your tools give you the fiz, you made the right choice, regardless of who the manufacturer is.

When I bought my house 3 years ago, I went with Bosch for 3 reasons: 1) I already had a Bosch drill. 2) The Freak meant one less tool I needed to buy (I bought a newer one, not the original). 3) Lowes had a big sale where you got a free battery and charger with most of the bare tools I needed. The impact is great because you can leave the T20 on while using it as a wrench. It also has more torque as a wrench than a regular impact driver because you don't need to adapt up from 1/4" to 1/2". The only downside is you need two hands to put in a new driver bit.
My main complaint with Bosch is they only carry professional tools and don't have homeowner tools like everyone else. I ended up buying a Craftsman inflator, because it can be powered by battery, cigarette adapter, or AC. But now I have three battery systems (including Ego).

I've always been on the Bosch 12v line. Lowes ran a sale where they had their 18v 975 inch pound drill/hammer drill for 99 bucks and you got 2 free 18v 4ah batteries along with it so I jumped on that because I needed a bigger drill with 1/2" chuck and a side handle. Whale of a deal and I love it.

(You'd think I'd get a complimentary tool now and then, but Noooo! Not even a call, or a greeting card!) Bosch tools don't have that cheezy DIY 'stealth fighter' look to them. It seems like all of the other big brands know they have to cater to both professional users and us weekend warriors alike to hold their stake in the market, and their line-ups seem to reflect that. When one of the other big brands does something new, then the other big brands will catch on and begin competing with it, but not Bosch. Bosch is like the odd kid who gets picked last for the team. The Bosch CS5 is my primary circ saw. Even though I have an old black Sears Craftsman, a Skil, and a Ridgid worm drive, the Bosch is used 90% of the time. Likewise, my Bosch plunge router is also my go-to for routing. Their quality is never in question to me.
Bosch's sales reflect store support rather than tool quality. I suspect that if they were awarded display space comparable to Milwaukee, Ryobi, and DeWalt in Home Depot they'd do better. Same is true for the space granted to DeWalt and Craftsman at Lowe's.
When it comes to retail people are visual buyers and a 1/4 to 1/2 shelf display in the back isle doesn't get much attention. This entire video could have been called Metabo is Worse Than Done... .
The story on Metabo is almost identical.
In the 3 Lowe's stores I frequent Flex is much the same. On release they were pretty much regulated to a couple of end caps. However, they've recently been extended to an entire side of one isle. The professional market is slowly expanding for Flex, but in terms of retail they're still pretty irrelevant to the general public.

    • @joelrodriguez9661

This right here. There is a reason that DeWalt has models that are sold specifically in Lowe's and Specifically in Depot. It's what Depot demands in terms of inventory allocation. It's that requirement that has Milwaukee in Depot and not in Lowe's.
Bosch cordless is plenty of places. But alot of those places cater to the contractor/professional and not the DIYer. Yes alot of contractors use HD and Lowe's. But many of them also use the industrial distributors you named off along with places like White Cap, Colony Hardware and other local and regional hardware and construction material outlets.

Should I get robbed and have to start over, I may and may not stick to deWalt. It's not brand fidelity thing as much as investment in batteries... My tools are not broken and get the job done. And I don't have a love hate relationship with DeWalt. I'm satisfied without being a vocal fan boy.
Now, let's assume that sad scenario, I don't know that I'd be drawn to Bosch, but for all I care:
    A) I know they are not all over the place, but I'm not worried, they won't disappear. I know a shop here in Montreal that sells almost exclusively Bosch.
    B) They got all the tools I need. Period.
    C) there is something cool about being the marginal one that is in the "less than 1% group of buyers". That's the least rational argument of the three, yet probably the one I'd admittedly have to fight.

Sorry, obsolete. So I have a great drill that was insane good on concrete and tile with carbide bits.. still in perfect shape, but a costly paperweight due to horrid battery support. Buy corded.. Bosch corded seems fine to me. If you are doing serious work, like demo, you probably have site power. In which case, why not use infinite run time? And even online sales don't bother me. If I was using Bosch for pro work, I'd already have backup tools. Two of everything. So if one broke, it doesn't shut down the job. You have a second one and order a new one or go buy team yellow or red to hold you over. It's not a big deal. What I would like to know: TTI and Bosch both have the US headquarters virtually next door to each other. Is there any significance to that? Do they work together at all? How did two tool companies both end up in the same small place in South Carolina like that?
