Here eight years later, they are touring together around the world. Thank you, lads. Sure, Jacob has mastered bass. Yet, on strings four or five, on mighty bass synth, Rob has a mighty set of hands.
That was Jacob ACTUALLY SAYING SORRY for a mistake he made. 6:21. Honestly I was never going to hear that happen in my life😂 This is just so good to watch and listen to! Amazing stuff and underrated by way to many people if you ask me!
He is already very big. He has toured the world several times and been accepted everywhere as totally brilliant. Except in England, his home. Whose fault is that? Jacob's? The media? The British public? I cannot work it out.
You're replying to a comment made over 2 years ago. I'd say an accurate statement at that time in his career. But I also agree I'm not sure why i don't hear about him more in the UK. I suppose Jazz isn't for everyone.
Look up the Maida Vale session - it's not quite a "studio version" but it's professionally recorded and in a studio, so I guess you could call it a studio recording. It was for a radio performance.
Omg!!! Amazing, unbelievable, awesome, pure genius, so talented. I'm blown away. What planet are you from. What else can I say. I wish you all the success. You should be heard by everyone. ( in the universe )
Exactly, Mike. Well said! I find it thrilling to see so much love for Jacob's music. He's changing the world ..... and not only the musical communities, but the world for the better with all this light love, positivity and genius!
I remember when I first heard this very soon after it was posted here. I was like, "So he not only arranges and sings like a mad genius but is also crazy advanced as a piano player? How is this possible?"
2:10 a bit of forgetfulness + postman pat?, 3:18 run , 4:22 drummer misses entry, 4:36 bass forgets, 6:22 Jacob + bass lose it, 7:32 bass late, but still amazing! fantastic guys!
lol good LORD!!! This is unreal. Beautiful music guys keep it up. dont worry I think I and everyone else on this thread will wait patiently for a record :)
im very happy to see that you are playing with young and talented musicians like you. I think you came from another planet, i admire you beyond the limits of comprehension. Best wishes for you from Argentina, Federico
First off, this is just fucking mental, words can't even describe the endless musical genius of Jacob. But exactly what type of jazz is this? - notably the piano, I like that sort of dissonant cool style he has
Wish Jacob would do more with Mullarkey and Maddren. Marvelous mix of jazz technique and soul.
Couldn't agree more. An album with those three, I would run to buy immediately.
Mullarkey is in Jacob's new band, debuting March 20 in London and probably going to be all over his next album along with Metropole Orkest
It’s no secret all three of these dudes are next level. But the bassist... never heard playing like this.
Love the Postman Pat-quote at 2:13 !
Here eight years later, they are touring together around the world. Thank you, lads. Sure, Jacob has mastered bass. Yet, on strings four or five, on mighty bass synth, Rob has a mighty set of hands.
2.12 - 2.17 Cheeky little Postman Pat lick in there. Ha!!
That was Jacob ACTUALLY SAYING SORRY for a mistake he made. 6:21. Honestly I was never going to hear that happen in my life😂 This is just so good to watch and listen to! Amazing stuff and underrated by way to many people if you ask me!
He's going to be very very big.

And THAT was three years ago. Bless you, Jacob!

Now he actually is very big :)
still would consider him underground...
Damn holy... I wish there was a studio version, that would be epic²

I’m back after 10 years of having watched this… Makes me smile ! ❤️🔥🙂
Best music clip on youtube in my opinion. Great camerawork by the way!
😂

4:32 man you found that chord and went into that beautiful spot and made that change to the chord.. I shook my head and smiled.
I remember when I first heard this very soon after it was posted here. I was like, "So he not only arranges and sings like a mad genius but is also crazy advanced as a piano player? How is this possible?"
I think piano is definitely Jacob's best instrument. I mean, he also excels in playing everything, but his piano stands out.
Siiiiiiiiiiick. SICK> SICKSICK. Drummers killin it on the hats!
I would take an entire album like this Jacob!!
I'm just floored at how good this is. Composition, playing, everything.
2:13 Postman Pat! :D
Cheeky bit of the Postman Pat theme tune popping in at 2:13
When I was in NYJO in the late 80's / Early 90's the 'Postman Pat' quote was a requirement in EVERY solo lol...
Dang......some pretty shifty rhythms! And that's just a beginning of this artist's musical strong points. wow.
What the hell just happened? Where were the mistakes you were talking about. This could have gone straight on a record except for the phone ringing.
I say put it on the record with the phone included
1:10
(Phone) Ring Ring!
(Jacob) Yeeah
@@alvaro.makes.music1 the rythm of the phone was like almost a quintuplet rythm
I mean it's a great take and they're pros, but it happens, just pay attention at 3:20 for example.
2:10 a bit of forgetfulness + postman pat?, 3:18 run , 4:22 drummer misses entry, 4:36 bass forgets, 6:22 Jacob + bass lose it, 7:32 bass late, but still amazing! fantastic guys!
1:16 is my favorite moment starting
If you like that part , search the road not taken jacob collier , some chord progressions, update me if you give it a go on how it sounds :p
Will forever be thankful for this upload
We're all Salieri, now.
hehe I see what you did there :) Indeed we are !
If you're referring to the wrong interpretation of evidence from Mozart's life, then I don't agree.
Real music !!!! God thank you !!! Young people playing real music !!!
Unbelievable for an 18 yr old to be so musically mature!!! AMAZING!!!
lol good LORD!!! This is unreal. Beautiful music guys keep it up. dont worry I think I and everyone else on this thread will wait patiently for a record :)
Yeah! reminds me a little of Wayne Shorters writing from the '90's Smokin' Jacob! Love it! Dig your voicings and your whole concept man!
I got here from Robin's Hamstead Subspace review and i had no idea he played with JC. holy shit i was not ready
Breath-taking originality and invention.
That last note that y'al played was heavenly with your harmonics and the ringing of the piano... Great piece dude
best trio i ever seen!
Dude the coda is amazing, the piece is brilliant, great stuff from Jacob as usual!!
Phat with a ph. The changes and the groove alone take me somewhere else.
Someone has been listening to David Benoit...I'm ready for it... Fantastic
Great punchy bass, and sublime groove.
Are they in 21/16?
im very happy to see that you are playing with young and talented musicians like you.
I think you came from another planet, i admire you beyond the limits of comprehension.
Best wishes for you from Argentina,
Federico
Just wanted to leave a comment on my favorite video
7:11 reminds of his song The Road Not Taken, (the poem adaptation)
a lot of talent in one room!
the lick 2:58
Reminds me so much of Herbie Handcock, Love your playing man😁
Is this an original tune? Very nice anyway very tight bass and piano
Yes it's a composition for a college recital
Sounds like Herbie.
Herbie is his teacher.
Young musicians playing like experienced legends !! Fantastic!!
Fantastic trio - awesome tune!
Do exist some other recordings from this or other rehearsals? This is so exciting and astonishing!
Marco Risolino there’s a live performance but it’s not as exciting
The Maida Vale session

Good job Robin and James. Jacob is only a genius but you know this. ;)
this is so sick. is this a original tune? if so whens it out or where is it?
First off, this is just fucking mental, words can't even describe the endless musical genius of Jacob. But exactly what type of jazz is this? - notably the piano, I like that sort of dissonant cool style he has
It's a very modern type of jazz.
Jazz Fusion
I guess you never heard Gonzalo Rubalcaba? (Especially when he's playing with Cubans!)
Toby Bromfield free jazz
Tigran Hamasayan will be right up your street
Jacob really loves his staccato. I do too.
I ❤❤❤ THIS son a lot!!!!!!!😂🎉🎉 But....only live version in the room?
Sounds good from where I'm standing
all so brilliant!!! can't wait to see and hear you in person
vivien
Love the rhythm in this. Before the beat, after the beat. Yes!
Un genio!...ha capovolto il jazz!!!👍👍👍😊😊😊jazz del futuro....jacob collier!💙👍
Oh Yeah! love those jam sessions!....awesome!
Can't believe my eyes! You both together!!!
Very nice. What a cool little tone/meter maze. You guys are a bunch of silly freaks. Mean that as a high compliment. Kudos from NYC.
Wow Jacob is too young to be this good!
#jacobcollier #jazz #modern
All of the prodigies were this good at this young. That's the point. Herbie was. Bireli was. Beka was and is.
Truly beautiful and inspiring........all of you.
I look forward to have your new album! Fantastic!
Fantastic playing Robin - wicked tight!!
jamming..jammin..it's so great seeing young people play Real Music...:))))
The unison between the piano and bass is staggering. I'm sure it's a staple of a genre somewhere! Where can I get my ears on that kind of sound?
chick corea?
Avishai Cohen (specifically The Ever Evolving Etude or Pinzin Kinzin). Not to downplay Michael Lockwood, as Avishai was Chick's bassist :p
Gerald Clayton
+josiah566 Eldar Djangirov, Neil Cowley Trio, Tigran Hamasayan.
Listen to Actual Proof - Herbie Hancock
Marvelous playing guys! Thank you for posting this, you made my day :)
Ah, you put the credits in for your musicianship (unlike BBC) - only worthy and fair ;) This is awesome, btw!
Bravo, Jacob! and friends...
This is truly inspiring!!!
This song's awesome. Wanna catch you cats live some day out here in the San Francisco area.
what a nice shot lovely view angle
More of this please!!!
Absolutely phenomenal.
Great playing, very talented, reminds me of the Yellowjackets .
DJ Mon..I agree..the counterpoint that he's playing..proof posituve that fretted bass can really wrk in an acoustic trio setring..
6:05, UUUUGH, that bass line! OOOOO!!
Beautiful! Amazing!
The section starting at 1:17 reminds me a lot of his song The Road Not Taken
This is like stupid good, i can't
This is what JC shed do all the time! Unique!
very nice. Thanks Jacob!
Just wonderful - thank you!
He's teasing the interlude for "Time alone with you" in this! I'm wondering if this will be on the last record?
The only wart in this, is the one guy who disliked it!
Cool, man. Can't talk got my 'chops' goin, yeah!
LOOKS LIKE YOU?
Phenomenal ...make me wanna stop playing music......so damn genius
cool, enjoyed it
That was sweet!
Now I see how it is possible you will give live concerts!
Great playing all around.
that was awesome :)
I LOVE those warts... bring on the warty music
AMAZING!!!!!!
Most of us _wish_ we had your warts!
P.S. At some point during your rehearsal, did you smack Jacob in the head with your headstock? 😁
Phantastic!
madly heavenly
piano reminds me of herbie hancock
Jacob's stylistic choices remind me of Jason Rebello's playing-with Sting
Sting was one of jacobs childhood heroes
Jacob was in Jason Rebello's band for a while on accordion
Quem não gostar disso é um verdadeiro inutil meu muito toppppppp parabens!!!!!
