Mirror can start fires if it isn't in shade like a magnifying glass.I know a man that his house started on fire from the sun reflecting off of a water dropplet in his bushes .

Good morning guys. Thanks for sharing today. Some of these garden centers should be giving away the flowers. They never have anyone watering them and taking care of them. The balloon flowers are awesome. So pretty I have them and they are in full sun and spread. Just cut off spent flowers and they bloom forever. Hope you find your mirror,it will look pretty in your garden. Well stay cool only in the 90 s today here in ohio. 🥀

Wow! Mine are in the shade and are beautiful. I keep them deadheaded but they don't keep blooming 😢. It's interesting that yours keep blooming. The previous homeowner planted them 20+ years ago when the maple they are under was a tiny tree. NC 7b here. Happy for you!😊

Hi Robbie - I have a suggestion for you regarding the garden mirror you want. You could easily find an actual antique multi-pane window in a local antique shop/mall or similar place and have the size mirror you need cut to go behind it. That way you can have more choices that should be easily found and at a very reasonable price. I'm a retired antiques dealer and have seen this done many times. Good luck with your search.

So, my friend had a small mirror in with a bag of stuff that she was donating to St Vincent de Paul. The mirror caused the bag of items to catch on fire. The bag was only outside for about 30 minutes, but that’s all it took. This was in Arizona. Hopefully, garden mirrors don’t start fires where you are.

Hey Robbie! Mirror Hack! Have you thought about stacking multiple college style dorm mirrors together and adding pieces of trim to create a gridded window look. They are cheap, cover a large area when repeated, come in many colors and available everywhere. I’ve had them in my garden for over 8 years and they have held up great. Love learning, laughing and watching your garden journey!

A mirror might possibly fry some plants if the sun shines on it and is directed towards plants.. maybe if it was in total shade it would work

Robbie, the window mirror sounds nice, but birds can and will fly into reflections think it is open space. The saddest thing I ever saw was seeing a pigeon hit the glass door of a 7-11 in Orlando where I lived. The poor thing broke it's neck and died right there. Sound like a great design for the garden to give expansion, but highly dangerous to birds. ❤ No hard feelings. Just wanted to give you a heads up on a possibility. So you that you know I had the same idea until I witnessed that poor 🕊️ bird.

Robbie so glad you found the shade cloth. I use these in my Texas garden but at a minimum of 40%. They sell bungee hoop clips on Amazon to help attach them. Plus some have grommets. They go on as soon as it hits 90. Plus have them watered well and let the humidity work for you. I have a penta, PW Blue My Mind and Popcorn Salvia in a planter up front. It's in full sun but does get some shade from a shrub. I just keep them well watered and they look beautiful. I got my caladiums and coral bells in May. They are in shade under an oak tree and I just have to keep them well watered because of the heat. Thank you for the verbena info about sun. I have mine in shade and they don't really like it.

Hello Robby I just want to let you know that after watching your video where you made the espalier on the fence, you inspire me to do the same, I did mine on the fence as well, it did not take that long and I got 23 sections that will be cover with green ivy and a variegated ivy I just thought that it might look good if mixed. I am working on another fence will do the same design just a bit bigger designs and it will only be green ivy thank you for inspiring me and to Jeanne for teaching you about it. Yazmin

    Robbie,
I’m glad you didn’t settle for a mirror that wasn’t your vision! Take your time and you’ll find the ‘ just right’ mirror. Boy you are not kidding about this heat! I love your UA-cam shorts with the dead plants. I’m in Redding and we’ve had a week of 115+ temps. Last Saturday we hit 119🥵. Unfortunately my gardens are suffering big time. I’ve never seen so many fried plants! With these temps I literally would have to put shade cloth over the entire yard! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that some will bounce back after this heatwave! 🫤🤞

I have balloon flowers in NH in zone 5 out front in my sandy soil not irrigated bed and they do great with full sun all day long.. but they do get tall and then the stalks kind of fall over and the flowers end up coming up through other plants.. if that bothers you then you need to stake them.. mine are 10 years old and 6ft tall at the highest point that doesn’t flop.. flowers die and turn brown and you can’t deadhead them without milk sap coming out of the cut.. but I still like mine even with thoes issues

Robbie, you’re gonna LOVE the balloon flowers! Just keep them dead-headed for continuous, prolific blooms! I’m in hot & humid Zone 8b, and have mine in terra cotta pots on the back deck where they are in full sun for most of the day. They die back completely to the ground in Winter, but pop back up every year! Love their beautiful color and interesting blooms!

We had just had a tree cut down and there was a piece of glass that reflected onto the pile of sawdust that was around the tree and it caught fire. Thank god we were here and seen it or it could have burnt our house down. So please rethink about the glass or mirror. Maybe a shaded spot might be okay but I would definitely be checking every hour of the day to make sure that it isn’t reflecting the sun. Also the sun changes positions during different seasons.

I also can't believe how these stores don't water their plants enough and can afford to lose them. When you find a mirror, please take care to make sure the hot sun doesn't crack it. It may have to be in shade.
