I came here about a month ago and haven’t stopped watching since! I lost my beloved dog in June, and gardening, something I haven’t done since I lived at home and my mom made us help plant/dig out annuals every year, has helped me through the grieving process. Your channel/voice/ideas/ and tours have really given me peace and helped me more than I ever anticipated. So thank you.

Im also grieving the loss of a very special cat. It’s actually upset and stopped my relationship with my daughters. The grief of loosing a much loved animal is so hard and I also found this channel because of grieving and needing to find a positive thing to do. You’re not alone 💕

I have to tell you, the beauty of your videos, and your garden, seeing you and Aaron, and Benjamin over the past year have gotten me through the loss of a dear dear family member.
    I am so grateful
There have been many times when I have lost myself in the beauty of your gardens and have been inspired to get on with it. Seeing your garden shut down over the winters, and come back to life has been so helpful. Time doesn't entirely heal, but there will be new blossoms in place of those now gone.
I cannot tell you how many of your videos I have watched several times, as I just let my feelings wash over me. Happy to say, I am getting stronger every day, and Gaden Answer has been my own answer on many reflective evenings
Many thanks, to you, and to Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and hundreds hours at the piano.
    :)
    Cass

2 things: 1. Put stick-on felt dots on the underside of the terracotta saucers wherever it actually touches the table to protect the saucer from scratching the table finish. In the 1970s houseplants were the rage and I got bit by the bug. 2. Dusting leaves took creativity. You can wash them off by taking them to the kitchen sink ( or shower) and with the sprayer wash all the dust off. For plants kept in the kitchen area, mix a weak solution of liquid dishsoap and water in a pan and with a clean washcloth handwash off every single leaf to get the light film of cooking oil and grease that invaribly gets in the air off the leaves. This film is what makes the dust stick and the leaves look dull. Rinse any soapy water off the plants and soil and let drain before returning to the shelf. This can get to be a splashy mess if you have large plants or many so you can wait until summer! Once a year I took all my plants outside, on the patio table or on the lawn gave them their annual washing up, rinsed well with the hose shower wand, groomed and repot what needs attention, let them drain & dry off, took them back inside. If you have hard water, lightly pat the leaves with paper towels to get big droplets up. Leaves can be damp but the bigger droplets could cause hard water spots to dry on leaves which look unsightly and are permanent🌿🌱🍀

SAUCERS! Yes. I'll sign your petition. My favorite thing to do for saucers is to stock up on pretty cerarmic tea saucers or small plates from thrift stores that match my decor. I have a stack of different antique white ones that I use for my 6 inch pots. It's fun to look for more when I'm out shopping. Another thing that has worked great for me: I got a couple marble coaster sets ($5 for 4) from HomeGoods that I put under my old (before I knew better) unglazed terra cotta saucers.

I LOVE all three of those youtubers! Kaylee Ellen does a really good job in categorizing houseplants by rarity, and really goes out of her way to make sure people know what plants are actually worth. She's also one of the key players in getting the word out about Philodendron Pink Congo reverting completely to green.
My favorite youtuber, besides Amanda, is Betsy Begonia. She has SO MUCH info on Hoyas and begonias, and she'w hilarious (she owns her crazy like Planterina)

Thank you Laura for sharing your houseplants and where you have placed them, I think they all look just amazing, I have all but three of the different plants you picked, I live in Idaho and it is very dry and can get hot, so you do need plants that are a little more tolerrant to your particular conditions. I love watching my UA-camrs plant up their plants it is very relaxing and fun to see how they differ in technique. I watch all of the UA-camrs you gave a shout out to, and a few others, they are all so great at what they do. Laura you home is so beautiful and I love seeing where they are styled. Plants are such a beautiful addition to the inside of our homes.

Might I suggest that you can get some glass vases/jars fill them with water and add the cuttings of the philodendron then put them up on top or your cabinets. You won't have to water them for weeks and they will still grow like crazy. I have one that has been in water for at lest 6 years now. My mother-in-law has one for 15 years in water. Love Love Love this show. Can't get enough.

Yay! Finally a houseplant related video. I have all of the plants in this video. Great choices for common houseplants. I have about 400 houseplants in my collection all in planters. So nothing in ground which you specialize in. So I really enjoyed this video! The dracaenas you have are white jewel and lemon lime. The sansevieria you have is a jade birds nest. I agree with you I don’t really stress out about repotting right away if the change isn’t drastic. Wish I could plant edibles in ground like you but it doesn’t work living in a studio. One day! Happy planting! 💚

Agreed about the saucers for the pots! And how about when they come fully attached to the pot!? How are you supposed to pour out any excess water without overturning your plants?😉👍🌱🌿

I have gone a bit crazy with houseplants since last winter. I 've been recovering for many months and I found having houseplants helped me get through it much more smoothly.

If you let terra cotta sit in a damp flower bed and you rub some lime on it once you’ll get the patina in about a month. My grandmother used to use that trick. The same works for burrying the Pot in acidic soil for two weeks only letting them get wet once.

Great repotting Laura! My plants thrive in Espoma soils. I add pumice to it though for a little extra looseness. I also follow all three of those plant ladies! Love the plants above your cabinets! 🌸🌿💖

Hi Laura and Aaron! This video was very enjoyable, as are all of your other ones. I love house plants so much and you picked some beautiful ones. I don't do well with the "traditional" ferns, but so far am having good luck with the Rabbits Foot fern and Kangaroo Paw fern. I want to try the Birds Nest fern, too. I have two Staghorn ferns that I wanted to mount, but may just keep them in soil for now. I collect pothos and philodendrons, too. They are so easy! IMO a trailing plant would be pretty in the urn. I'm subscribed to Planterina and Summer Rayne, also subscribed to Nick Pileggi and Jeff at Tropical Plant Party, who are wonderful, too! Love them! And yes, I totally agree with having saucers that match the pots! Would love a tour of the whole inside of your house, too! Thank you for sharing!

I've read that the silver satin pothos is actually not a pothos or philodendron but do have similar care. They are so beautiful.

Maybe during the winter months you could take us along for your house plant maintenance? 🙂
