There is so much content out here on railroads , sometimes it takes a few years to get to it, excellent collection of boxcars something from the past that has been containerize, excellent lay out, thanks for just letting the trains run with their own sound ,it's nice to know about your layout the railroad is fantastic . thanks🙌

I did a quick internet search and came up with the following railroads that came into KC via mainline, branchline, or trackage rights: Rock Island, Santa Fe, UP, CB&Q, Chicago & NW, Chicago Great Western, Milwaukee Road, Wabash, KCS, MKT, Frisco, and Missouri Pacific. Note that all except the UP and KCS are "fallen flags". I would love to see more diesels of the 50's and 60's from the non RI roads making cameo appearances on your layout if you or any of your operators have models of them. On a personal note; as a kid in the late 50's and early 60's I rode UP passenger trains (probably the City of St. Louis) between St. Louis and Denver on family trips to spend summers with grandparents in Portland, OR. The train passed through KC at night, so my only memories of the city are lights. I do remember that the St. Louis-KC segment was over the Wabash. The train had at least one old Wabash passenger car on the head end (a smoke-filled club car that I walked through very quickly while exploring the train) that was dropped off at KC.
I grew up with the CGW at Ingalton, IL, north of West Chicago. It was really great to see a brace of F's running again. Great job. And the Rock GEs too. A lot of those around Omaha and Councils Bluffs in the 70's, Amazing layout....

That room looks like it was custom-made for the layout. beautiful room, and the around the wall idea is a solid one. I'd add more trees and undergrowth, but that's just a suggestion - not a criticism. Those bridges, trestles and railroad stations a re impressive and I love those Rock E-7 diesels. I'd never heard of The Plainsman before. Where did this train originate/ terminate? I had my own original railroad empire in the 80's: The Texas Central and Pacific. Had my own logo and sky blue, black and sunset yellow paint scheme. It was the opposite configuration. You had to go around the wall to follow the trains, which were situated in the middle of the room. I love watching your videos. This is as close as I can get to running my own trains now.
Hi Tommy - The Plainsman operated between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Kansas City and was the 1966 remnant of the Lone Star Rocket that operated between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Houston. Thank you very much for your comments and for watching my videos ....... I'm glad that you enjoy them. Mike
Twin Star Rocket is absolutely correct!! Typo and mis-statement on my part ............ 25 years living in Texas must have wired my brain to think "Lone Star" instead of "Twin Star". I absolutely know that it was the "Twin Star Rocket"!!!!!!!!!
At the interchange with the Iowa Terminal at Clear Lake. Do you sometimes change out the car that is on the siding, in this case the flat with the grader?
Hi Todd - You have a good eye. I do pick-up and set-out cars on the Iowa Terminal interchange track; however, I'll admit that the grader on the flat car has been there for a while. I think we're ready for a switch or at least a change of scenery. Thanks. Mike

Hi Todd - ACY stands for Akron, Canton and Youngstown which was based in Ohio and served the auto industry, primarily vehicle tire manufacturers. The railroad was about 112 miles long and was absorbed into the Norfolk Western Railway in 1982. Mike

Have you thought about running the Twin Star Rocket and Zephyr Rocket both of which used this route? The Twin Star used an ALCO DL109 in the 60's and the Zephyr Rocket could've had run-through power in the form of a CB&Q E unit. Interesting trains.
I haven't yet weathered the Hiawatha passenger train, but it's on the list to accomplish over the next year or so. The Zephyr Rocket did indeed operate over the Mid-Continent Route between the Twin Cities and Manly, Iowa, and I may just have to operate a Zephyr Rocket someday on the layout. Hi Todd - I have lightly weathered all of the locomotives ............... but, you're right, the Rock Island rarely had a clean looking locomotive .......... unless it was fresh from the paint shop or manufacturer! Mike

Twin Star Rocket was the original name for #17 and #18, never Lone Star Rocket.

Watching this video again I did notice one thing........ the Rock Island locomotives are way too clean!
