Yes, It's held on by friction and expands as the rust underneath it builds.
Oh my god I have been scratching my brain at why my new sensor wasn’t turning the lights off and it’s because the sensor was worn from the reluctor ring. I done this with two washers and it fixed my problem 🙏🙏🙏

How did you determine which speed sensor was bad? My ODB scanner reports that both front speed sensors are not working.
That may be the case but I'd take them out and check for wear/dirt first, clean if necessary, then check codes again.
