What fantastic memories this class wee tune brings rushing back from the many nights spent in Kelly’s portrush. Turn it up Close your eyes and let the music take you back to those brilliant nights spent in Kelly’s. Undoubtedly the best times of our lives. Mark. Belfast.
They certainly were the days, New styles, New music, New Drugs, it was a fuckin revolution, New clubs - Jumpin from one to the other - Kellys - Circus - Tokyos - Charlie Heggarties - One world - Sugar Sweet, but to name a few, nothing lasts forever, just good memories, good friends, pure love and ecstasy!!!
Powerful. Just class memories altogether. These days, nights and long, long weekends were truly amazing. The Point Inn, and Kellys rocked like nothing ever has since. Peace, Luv & Harmony. =)
i know how you feel, i was the dj who played it...it was always a fave of mine......so it had to be a fitting end or an era in clubbing history in n/ireland.... rip the barn!
The first night I was in kellys was the dj Scott and mc crazy b night. It changed my world. I was only 13. Brillian. The S...The C...The O Double T....the harmony posse are on ecstasy...let's hear ye!!!! Oi oi!!! Big up the kellys MASSIVE!!!
when hearing these treks again one thing sticks in my mind, how many times would you hear from your mates "AH LAP YOU UP BIG MAN,YOU`RE A GOOD MATE" and vice verca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Lee, I was born 1975 so we more than likely would have been bouncing together at some stage. U know what kellys was like. Everyone got a hug of a stranger!
Aye that was sad news, no matter what was thrown at him James kept Kellys open for business! Fittingly I heard he passed away in one of his fav parts - the library RIP JK. BTW - Chris Hurley having a Reunion on 01/11 at The Derry/Portrush and Unity having a gr8 oldskool nite at Traks wie all the big guns (Xray, Malloy playing his last ever oldskool set and loads more) on 14/11.... Canne believe Im gonna miss both!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRrrrrrr
What a fucking top place to spend your early 20s : ) Was posted with 2RGJ in Omagh and used to sneak out of camp every week and drive to kellys with the other scouse party peeps. Happy Days indeed. Pills were pills. Has Any 1 got any vids when DJ Vertigo was on there ? 1991 i think
@cassierea you're the man to ask here...why did Kellys end? Was it due to music policy? Crowds drifting away? The owners wanting a change? Espcially if it was such a popular palce. Can anyone answer?
@oldskool .. It changed form, and dress code in order to fly a bit lower.. Under the radar. For these were defs.. In yer face.. Ecstatic Times indeed. The so called authorities were cracking down on the scene.. It was pure underground stuff. Pure free and healthy. * Music began changing also.. Deeper, slower house music was arriving, which brought a different but brilliant vibe along with it. An evolution of style and sound... Fucking class.!!!=)
@soupy735 as to your opinion everyones entitled to it xray is a top gguy and he was and still is the back bone of what kellys the harmonys and dance music for northern ireland was made of big up all the guys that made the harmonys what they were
Totally right nothing lasts forever as the club scene nowadays is very stale no enthusiaum for the music and scene, im 23 was way to young to be apart of those days. Im into house/techno/trance now but would easily of enjoyed hardcore etc back then.
What times in the morning did it used to stay open to, i was way to young im apart of the lush crowd now the atmosphere is still there but a more small minority of clubbers alot of things would of changed and one thing would of been less people on xtc and more lager head which does reck it.
When 🕊's and ❄️ snow balls.. when 1,or 2 lasted all night 🌙 no come down when xtc was xtc or u think it was just place and time new generations new dope ,I loved Kelly's in the 90s when it was Kelly's
Gettin old ! hairs on my body I never used to have are standing up for fuwk sake ! itchy inside my ear !! Never got to Kellys unfortunatly, being from Newry we went to Circus and the Arena. Whata tune but ! 90s slow set ! The Arenas equivalent was Unique II {2} "Loveline", check it out on my channel, XXX MMcM.
I agree Ray was a top guy but he pushed that gabba hardcore stuff and drove the crowd away from Kellys. I love trance music, Ray just too hard for me and a lot of the crowd that made up the Harmony nights. As for being the backbone of dance music in Norn Iron, there have been a lot more influentia people than Ray. Still think Simon was a twat.
