It seems like there was an intermission afterwards for the poor performers to catch their breath, though. There's a costume change prior to the next song!
Ok. You guys will love Stop Making Sense. It is arguably the greatest concert of all time. The concept, the execution, and the fact that it’s virtually timeless, make it a must watch for anyone who loves music. There is never a dull moment, period. From there, you then need to watch American Utopia, arguably the most important and incredible concert ever conceived and executed. To see the way the band delivers the music plus the technical advances that they utilise, basically turns the idea of what a concert can be on its head. As for Burning Down The House and Crosseyed & Painless, if you like the studio versions you’ll love the Stop Making Sense versions. When you watch these, make sure you watch the whole concert each time, don’t just step in and out. Like a great album, they’re meant to be enjoyed as a whole. When you watch Stop Making Sense, put yourself in the shoes of the audience. Imagine having paid good money to see these guys, and think about your reaction as the curtains go up and you see what you’re presented with. Once you’ve processed that, buckle in.
The bassist is band member Tina Weymouth. She has been married the Talking Heads drummer, Chris Frantz, since 1977 and they subsequently founded the Tom Tom Club
The Crosseyed and Painless video was directed and choreographed by Toni Basil (''Mickey'' fame). I remember first hearing Psycho Killer in the office of the radio station 3RRR back in 1978. My sister won a mysterious album, and we were there to collect it. After 3 minutes of listening to this perculiar tune, the DJ (who was in the next room) announced that the band was called Talking Heads. I was quite amused by that. The manager, Sue Matthews, finally handed us the record and lo and behold, it was a copy of the new More Songs About Buildings and Food. We got home and played the record repeatedly even though we had no idea what it was that we were listening to... We also bought 77 and Fear Of Music, which sat nicely with our two Devo albums, but oddly with Cliff Richard's Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile and Wings' Back To The Egg (still one of my favourite McCartney albums). Could one of you let me know that my email has been read, and that Kaitlyn's idea has been acknowledged? It would be appreciated.
@@hanierfamily That's okay.. and I'm sorry for giving off little whingey 'Stan' vibes this week. lol One of our friends caught himself a cold, and proved not to be a happy camper when he has the sniffles. I think the dust is beginning to settle. Do what you need to do to make this crazy life easier for yourselves. 💗
I got to see Talking Heads twice. In Sydney in 1979 as just four people, and the much larger version you see in the ''Stop Making Sense'' movie in 1984. I wouldn't trade being in my 20's in the 80's for anything.
"Stop Making Sense" DVD is probably the best concert footage I have seen - I have seen plenty. When David come out to start the concert with "Psycho Killer" Live you really think he is one! Then, the Big Suit shows up.....highly recommended! Please don't play the Psycho Killer version that is out there which is a demo. The version from this concert is FIRE!
My inner music geek objects to watching a snippet of Stop Making Sense out of context! Theres some proper talent onstage alongside the band, one of the singers is Lynn Mabry, she sang with Sly And The Family Stone/P Funk/George Michael etc etc And Bernie Worrell is playing keyboards, he was in Parliament/Funkadelic
I request the Hanier Family react to Talking Heads more darker songs from Fear of Music such as Memories Can't Wait, Drugs, Electric Guitar, Animals, Mind, Air and their more quirky songs from More Songs about Buildings and Food such as The Good Thing, Warning Sign, The Girls Want To Be With The Girls, Artists Only.
This is the first song I ever heard from them. And my first album I owned..Tom Tom Club was Tina Weymouths band withe husband and keyboard player Chris Franz.
This is from "Fear of Music" a classic album which also features 'Cities', 'I Zimbra' and 'Heaven'. Everyone is on the band wagon of 'Stop Making Sense', but you need to fully appreciate the tightness of the core band on "Buildings and Food", "Fear of Music", and "Remain in Light" to name a few of their best albums to hear them before the David Byrne launching pad.
Always thought this would be an excellent ad for Cocaine if it ever becomes legal LOL I've been lucky to see these guys a few back in the day, you always left satisfied and tired :) ✌Peace✌
I've got some questions ❓ David how the hell can you still preform how you do at your age and are you from another planet? You have been doing this almost my whole life and i have trouble standing up straight let alone jumping around
He and the band jogged through about 60% of the performance, and at the end, he does laps around the stage! Even when I (Chris) was young, I couldn't do that and not be winded. He comes back before the end and sings some more!
Australian Crawl - Boys Light Up (2023 Remastered Version) Please check out the above title if ever u decide to react to ''Boys Light Up''. I used avoid Aus Crawl like the plague but the nostalgia aspect has kicked. The 2023 Remastered Version is pretty decent. Thx, Maccas Made Me Thin.
Life During Wartime was only halfway through the concert. The man was a bundle of energy on stage.
It seems like there was an intermission afterwards for the poor performers to catch their breath, though. There's a costume change prior to the next song!
Cocaine 😀👍
Stop Making Sense is a must see concert - totally wonderful from start to finish.
And Tina's bass is just magic.
Ok.

Tina Weymouth is brilliant on bass.

Tom Tom Club is Tina Weymouth the bass player and husband drummers band.
🎶 This ain't no party , This ain't no disco , This ain't no foolin around ! 🎶 Classic Track !
The song is actually from the lp Fear of Music, 1979.
Its not dull, but it is very dark lyrically.
Yes, Tom Tom Club is Tina and Chris' group. I saw David's American Utopia somewhat recently, and it was a hoot.
Another top band, always loved the tune psycho killer by them!

We have definitely read the email. We will take the idea into consideration. Sorry we hadn't replied. Things have been a little crazy here lately.

My fav talking heads song and my fav version of that song was played during this concert, This Must Be The Place.

A few years ago i got to see David burns American Utopia tour it was an AMAZING SHOW LIKE BLOODY HELL WHAT DID I JUST WITNESS AMAZING
He still took it to take me to the river, Tina is so on point
Another great song from the same concert is "Girlfriend is better", which was released as a single. The live version is best.

Thank you so much. We're really interested in hearing more Talking Heads. They are so great.
That was such a treat!!!
Love your mellow and straightforward style keep it up guys
Thanks for doing this song. I love it!
I think this is great. I've never heard it before ❤
This is the first song I ever heard from them. And my first album I owned..Tom Tom Club was Tina Weymouths band withe husband and keyboard player Chris Franz.
Of course taken from the Jonathan Demme concert movie of Stop Making Sense, probably the best live concert movie ever.
Way back when David and Tina were still on speaking terms. :-)
class act - love this band. Unique and so talented. ( surprised you haven't featured any Dead Kennedys yet)
I guess it's due soon.
I suggested a truck load a while back, for the dont like Mondays thing possibly
I love how the female reactor gets it and is having fun watching while the male counterpart shows no emotion.
Marvellous!

Collective talent
Talking Heads are great. Have you checked "Psycho Killer"?
“ Does anybody have any questions“
Yes. How do I work this? Where is that large automobile? What is that beautiful house? Where does that highway lead to? Am I right, am I wrong?
Always thought this would be an excellent ad for Cocaine if it ever becomes legal LOL

Ignore my Q, I just got to the bit about Psycho Killer.
DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS
Mellie mel, and grandmaster funk
