I'm pretty sure Nicki wasn't in the video cause' her part was shot apart, AFTER BTS wrapped up IDOL. I think the editors just used different shots, that weren't used in the original video. Cause' the collab came together AFTER BTS had already released IDOL (the original version).
Since Steffy mentioned, I really would have adored if BTS went full Gqom, with the best choreographers to pull off an amazing performance. But then, it would've being even less korean and plus, a lot of people would've tried to shit on them because of the "cultural appropiation" thing that's mainly an issue in the States, their new marketplace(¿? English's my second language so I don't know if this last part made sense) and unfortunately, BTS's almost holding the entire kpop future in their hands and a wrong move in their part could cut short the path of kpop groups that are coming to the US with them. Plus, even if they didn't give a fuck about all of the possibilities above, BTS works with a hectic schedule that I don't think they could've even had the time to call new producers and choreographers from a whole different continent that are capable to put their work aside and go to SK to work with them at one call🧐. Hopefully, in the future we can expect a better exploration of the African pop, not only with BTS but with others kpop groups as well. It would be an amazing take on a genre from a continent people tend to overlook and bring them a new light that could even help with the perspective people tend to have of Africa in general.
Sammy I agree with you, DNA was just not it for me. Like Sofie said, they’re getting a lot more pop and mainstream and as an OG BTS stan, their last three title tracks have been meh in comparison to their past title tracks. I am just grateful that we get some amazing b-side tracks but I really need their next comeback to give us a taste of the old BTS sound.

i hope i don't come off as argumentative because i'm really just curious as to what sets apart the last 3 title tracks to you from bts' past tracks? Like you say they're more pop/mainstream but before DNA there was still Not Today, Save Me, Fire, Dope and so on that could be considered the same right? I totally get if the songs aren't your taste because Idol definitely wasn't one of my favorites but I get really confused when people say the songs are more "mainstream"
@@nickismith8611 this is what i never understood about that argument. they’ve always released tracks in the pop genre. the famous bst has that same type sound. the argument almost makes it seem as tho they’d rather not bts explore more in music and they’d rather them release the same sound as if they can’t go listen to the old music
In my opinion I don't agree that they should have added more African culture or style in it. The song itself is a mix of a lot of cultures but the main team is Korean culture. There is the guara guara dance which is a key point but all the other movements are derived from traditional korean dance. The background, the tiger and bunny in a moon are all korean cultural references. Ulsoo chuta, jiyanjan chuta and all this expressions words are korean cultural words. So the amount of other cultures mixed in it was just enough not too much not too less. Also, this was a song to show the Korean culture too and of course themselves. Recommend you to watch DKDKTV's idol explain video it goes in depth about the cultural references, the song and MV in detail. Like that you will understand that it's more about embracing their own culture than promoting another culture.
I think people are misinterpreting our point. Both Steff and I are Nigerian, the guara guara is an african dance, specifically south african We had to cut out a lot of our comments cuz we didnt want hate, but the point we were trying to make for example is if i'm gonna include a salsa dance in my choreo or mv i'm gonna make sure I get a latin salsa teacher to teach me so i really embrace and pull off the dance well. BTS's guara guara was hella stiff and we felt if they had gotten an African choreographer to help them with it, it would've looked a lot better and natural. We totally understand the whole point of this song is to promote their own korean culture and self-love and we respect and really enjoyed the comeback. My Family is from Africa to and i know that Bts has some Korean tradtion in this MV and they wanted to tell the people we gonna stay Korean. But since they love the African Culture they did this South African beat. Guys they have a really not enough time to contact people.

Also, as an African and a huge lover of Gqom, that Gwara Gwara is so disheartening but I love how they mixed the traditional Korean sound with a South African sound. It has been said that Bang PD has been interested in Gqom for years now so this is a great combination.

I need yall to know that the Waka Waka song Shakira did was a Cameroonian song that she took and remade. I was kinda pissed that there wasn't more acknowledgement of that fact,and she didn't involve people from our country when remaking it.

NAH. Tear is the best album they EVER made musically. Fake love,paradise,love maze, the truth untold, outro tear, etc. that’s why it sold 1.8M albums
I haven't loved them since Wings either and it kills me. The ladies really bring that point home for me. I was never ok with the whole going mainstream but they have needed to do what they need to do going forward.
