They really did this monster justice since it's last and only appearance in 3U. But we have to salute the one Subspecies that walked so Lucent can run. RIP Green Nargacuga, you will be missed 🙏
Silverwind did take some lessons from Frontier by using wind slashes for its attacks, but its a very different take which made it unique. I honestly hoped they'd make an Apex Narga to have Silverwind's ability in base Rise!
Lucent is my 3rd favourite monster, and I am so happy I can fight him again after so much time, and he is stunningly beautiful. Narga has been done so dirty in the past few games, he was nerfed in gen, was the only flagship to not have any variation in iceborne, and had no apex in rise. This is a redemption for narga, not only is this the best nargacuga, but he is also pretty fucking difficult if you don't have experience with him. I have a friend that is a pretty fresh hunter, and he is very good with the gameplay since he is a fan of the souls series, but narga almost triple carted him twice, he was extremely stressed in the fight since he never hunted lucent and didn't know what to expect. If you have hundreds and hundreds of narga hunts like me, it's normal that you didn't struggle as much, but trust me, if you don't know this monster like the palm of your hand, you will have a bad time
Honestly the fact that we didn't get an Apex Narga that could perform multiple air slashes like the exotic is still one of the most disappointing things in base Rise. Zinogre got the best treatment yet Narga got nothing when it came to Apexes which showed Ichinose's bias at the time. The fact that we even got Lucent to begin with is a miracle!
I agree this is a great combo of mainline and frontier not to flashy but still offering a difficult fight, one thing I would like to see from frontier is the extreme blights, that would bring such a sense of danger back Into the series Also I've been enjoying the redesigns from twitter of frontier monsters as most of them all you need to do is sort out body proportions and colour pallet, and think a little about ecology and boom you got a great monster
Afflicted monsters don't bring the sense of danger? That said, I think the biggest loss of danger is being allowed to restock in camp. Without that, you'd have to really be careful just like in old MH

Considering how they remade Espinas in Sunbreak without breaking into Frontier's extremities, along with how they incorporated Lucent with Frontier Narga move I'm pretty confident that Capcom can bring other Frontier monsters into Sunbreak and adjust them to make them balance for mainline!
If they can fix that aspect then all the better since it does take away what the invisibility was meant to be about. Back in 3U we had to throw dung bombs at it just to keep track

I really like Lucent Nargacuga, but I wish he could appear on expeditions instead of being quest exclusive. Because it's not fair that Gold Rathian and Sliver Rathalos could appear on expeditions expect for him, but hopefully Capcom will let him appear on expeditions in the next free title update 💙😁
The thing that makes that hard is because if Lucent is fought during the day it would literally not be able to go invisible so the tower doesn’t have a day and night cycle while the other maps do It would be really weird fighting Lucent with him just literally unable to go invisible
They'd need a permanent night cycle (which they can do) for Lucent to roam other locales. That said, they'd need to treat the atmosphere similar to Elder Dragons back in World where it takes on a certain atmosphere based on whichever dragon is around. If Lucent made it to other locales they'd need a large full moon and a blue tint around the locale to indicate its presence which is a lot of work for one monster if they do it across all locales. If they can do it though, that would be awesome!
Frontier is not the only exclusive Japanese Monster Hunter game. Where’s Explore? That game has the Accel Axe and a lot of things you don’t know there’s a channel all about Explore called Monster Hunter Explore Spotlight. Plus MHO did translation Frontier monsters and mechanics first.
I never said it was the only JP game, I said I played all of them INCLUDING Frontier. I know what Explore is all about. I could easily spot Fiercewater Narga's lingering tailspikes from a mile away
*cough* *cough* I still prefer Flashpoint Nargacuga (what I like to call Blinking Narga). My biggest gripe with Narga as a whole is how he's seemingly the weakest flagship in the series, and that Lucent should've just been base Narga from the beginning imo.
With what Blinking Narga is capable of back in Frontier, I don't think mainline players are ready for it yet. One day they might but today is not that day 🤣
@@ChronoPinoyX I mean I don't think he's that bad. As he is, wirebug movements can probably easily keep up. The big reason I'd say they were tough back then was the one shots in true slays. Now, Blinking would fit just fine as an endgame threat, like a frostfang Barioth scenario by dropping with a Black Dragon. He's basically just high elder level tough in this case, as he should be.
i didnt know about exotic species till now. but please bring those back. id love to go out to hunt a monster as normal. then all of a sudden it gets angry, has a noticable difference in appearance, and get some new tricks. that would throw me off do hard and i would love every second of it
It'd be great if Capcom did Exotics the same way they did Variants before: They keep the same names and logos as normal monsters but you only see the difference when you actually start fighting them. Technically we had a pseudo-Exotic Monster back in World which was The Greatest Jagras since we didn't know what it was capable of and how it looked until we fought it! Lets hope they do this again in future!
Completely understandable! I would love to get Blinking Narga in a mainline game but I don't think people are ready for it hence why I consider Lucent to be the perfect balance!
The whole thing about espinas is that it has a Drowsy phase and how even a white sharpness weapon can bounce off, capcom took that away from Frontier players and players that are about to discover what the real epsinas is about. I would've prefer if they gave the lucent nargacuga like a G Rank Version that's as extreme as the frontier blinking narga. Something that mainline can experience even once.

Green Nargacuga is more of a Rare Species now compared to Lucent. Lets hope it blesses us one day and returns to the series!
if they ever wish to bring back green narga they would have to majorly change him up to make him more unique from the others

I feel like the lucent nargacuga is a nargacuga turning into a blinking nargacuga

He isnt difficult tbh his fight was pretty underwhelming
Just wish that the lock on disappears when he goes invisible in the next patch cause it's less threatening because of that.
I believe you have to manually enable that reticle, but I fully agree with you. It sorta takes the piss out of Lucent and Chameleos both

On the contrary I think the best Nargacuga variant species belongs to the Frontier Blinking Nargacuga, Lucent is great in its own way.
