- Today, I will take you on a journey to a traditional Tibetan farmhouse, where you’ll get to spend a day with the local farmers and enjoy a delicious lunch with them.
On my journey toward Everest Base Camp, I had the opportunity to visit a charming farmhouse near the Karola Glacier. There, I was welcomed by friendly locals who invited me into their homes and showed me how they cook their meals using traditional methods.
This rural community lives a resilient and resourceful lifestyle, deeply connected to the natural environment. With stunning views of the Nyenchen Kangsar Glacier, this experience was a heartwarming encounter.
Just sit back, relax, and enjoy this unique journey to a Tibetan farmhouse on the way to Everest Base Camp!

I am Jamyang, and I have been working as a tour guide with Tibet Vista Tour for 15 years. In 2020, during the Covid-19 global pandemic, I lost my job of being a tour guide, with the support of the company, I immersed myself in filming videos and documenting the culture of Tibet. Wonderful
when it rains in Dharamshala ,
I always think about Tibet .
I can see our family’s tibetan house,
there are always a lot of happy laughs in it ,
behind the house is a snow mountain ,
before the house is a clear river .
I left my home and came to India since many years ago ,
when I climbed over that snow mountain I was young ,
but can I climb the same snow mountain back to Tibet at now ?
can I find the same way leading me to my home ?
can I still recognize my home after so many years of separation?
when it rains in Dharamshala ,
I always heard a sound mixed in the raindrops ,
it seems so remote but still clear enough to listen .
suddenly I understand it ,
it’s the sound from Tibet calling me go home .
......
I stand up with a walking stick in my hand,
open the door and walk into the rain,
although I can’t see anything clearly through thick rain ,
as long as I follow that sound I definitely can go home ,
I keep walking .
I fell in the mud but try to stand up ,
keep walking .
I walk more and more slowly,
can't walk anymore,
only my soul keep moving forward with that sound .
the rain stops ,
that sound disappeared ,
a rainbow appears in the sky ,
one side of the rainbow is Dharamshala ,
the other side of the rainbow is Tibet ,
I stand muddy under the rainbow with the walking stick ,
don’t know where to go .

this place is just so beautiful. I was glad to see running water and vegetables too. Is it possible to get only vegetarian food if we visit Tibet ? we dont eat any kind of meat or animal fat. butter from milk or yogurt is fine but not the fat from the flesh of any animal. we would love to try local cuisine as long as it is vegetarian.
there are tons of vegetarian restaurants in Tibet ,since many locals are strict vegetarians because of their religion .
